Detective Josie Quinn #2

The Girl With No Name

Rate this book
When Detective Josie Quinn is called to a large house on the outskirts of the small town of Denton, she's horrified by the viciousness of the attack: smashed glass, splintered furniture and blood are spattered across the floor. The owner, a single mother, is fighting for her life, and her newborn baby is missing.

A beautiful young woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie's only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn't know who she is, where she's from or why she's so terrified . . . . Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?

As Josie digs deeper, a letter found hidden in the house convinces her the attack, the missing child, and the nameless woman are linked to a spate of killings across the county, and she is faced with a heartbreaking decision: Should she risk the life of one child to save many others? Or can Josie find another way to stop this killer before any more innocent lives are taken?

A character-driven mystery about a kidnapped baby, a missing police officer, and a town overrun with corruption.

This is book two in the Detective Josie Quinn series. While I didn’t love book one, The Vanishing Girls, due to some of the plotting issues, I really took to Josie’s character so I opted to read The Girl With No Name. Much like the Vanishing Girls, I had issues with the plot. However, Josie’s character makes this series worth it to read.

Upon investigating a case of a woman who was found severely beaten, Police Chief Josie Quinn discovers that the beaten woman had recently given birth and the newborn baby is missing. As Josie begins her investigation, she discovers that her fiance, Luke, has gone missing. Making matters even worse, she finds a strange woman sleeping in Luke’s house. At the same time, the tiny town of Denton, PA is riveted by the arrest and impending trial of a serial killer.

I would recommend reading The Vanishing Girls before reading this, especially because many of the characters who appear in book one are present in book two, including Misty, Trinity, Luke, and Noah.

There are a lot of moving parts in The Girl with No Name and there’s also a ton of twists-- this is where, at times, the plot gets a little messy. I also found some of the events that occur to be low on the believability scale. However, despite these issues, this is a fast-paced, entertaining read with a solid lead character. I liked the ending, and I am interested to see what’s next for Josie.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review.

I loved "Vanishing Girls" and could not wait to get my hands on "The Girl with no Name". The second book in the Josie Quinn series did not disappoint! I read most of the book in one day as I could not put it down! Seriously, I was hooked from page one. Reading this was like being on an emotional roller coaster ride! Josie Quinn gets put the wringer yet again in this book. I felt for Josie having to deal with all the issues in this book while still coping with the fallout of what occurred in Vanishing Girls. If you have not read, Vanishing Girls- please do- it's fantastic. This book does work well as a standalone novel but if you go read Vanishing Girls first, you will know most of the players and his/her backstory.

Interim Chief/Detective Josie Quinn called to the home of a mother who had been badly beaten when someone kidnapped her newborn baby. Fans of the first book will know the mother and think "Oh Crap!" as I did. What more can Josie go through? Apparently, a lot more. Josie goes to her fiance Luke's home, to find him missing, a lot of blood, and a woman fleeing the scene. The woman claims to have no memory or who she is, how she got there, why she is wearing Luke's clothing or where the blood came from.

It soon becomes apparent that his woman is connected to the missing baby boy and Josie's finance Luke. Who is this woman? Why is she terrified? Just what is the connection between the woman and the two-missing people? Who took the baby? Where is Luke? Who is the baby's father and why was the baby taken? The questions keep piling up and Josie and her partner, Noah, investigate all the leads and possible suspects. While investigating the disappearances, a letter from a fertility clinic is found which makes things even more interesting and complicated.

This book has a lot of twists and turns. I love that Regan can interweave the various plots and subplots into one and bring everything together. This was a fast read for me as I could not put this book down. This book is brilliantly paced, there is never a dull moment and I had to keep turning the pages to see what would be revealed next. Fans of mystery/suspense and police procedural(s) will really enjoy this book.

I really like the character of Josie. She is a strong woman who does not let her personal feelings affect her ability to do her job. She has integrity, determination and a strong work ethic. She perseveres even when she is an emotional mess inside. She always does the right thing even if it causes her stress and/or emotional pain. She is a woman with a not so happy past. Some of her past we know about, but there is a lot that I believe will be revealed as the story progresses.

Again, this book was well written, brilliantly paces, full of suspense and had me on the edge of my seat. I have become a HUGE Lisa Regan fan! I love her books. Regan's books are intelligent, brilliantly paced, full of actions and with characters that have depth react realistically to real life situations.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

One Heck of a Page Turner!

Josie Quinn is back and this time she’s in charge. When Detective Noah Frawley calls Chief Quinn to the scene of the crime where a woman has been found, beaten almost to death, her hours old newborn having been torn from her, Josie can’t imagine things getting any worse. Then, inevitably they do: Luke, her fiancé, goes missing. The evidence leads to a mystery woman who claims amnesia and just happens to have been found in Luke’s home, wearing his clothes.. This mystery woman was also at the crime scene when the battered woman gave birth. It simply can’t be a coincidence. As the investigation continues, Josie can't help but wonder how Luke ties into all of this - finding out the answers to that question terrifies her, though not as much as the idea of not finding him at all.

WIth time slipping away, and Luke and the newborn baby’s life hanging in the balance, Josie and Noah are in overdrive and neither can slow down for a second or all will be lost.

“The Girl With No Name” is a drama filled mystery with crazy twists and turns, some of which were a little out there and some of which kept me on my toes. It is one mystery/suspense whose pages I couldn’t swipe through fast enough to get to the end. This being the second book in the Josie Quinn Detective series, I am now fully invested and have high hopes for this series and for Josie. Lisa Regan sure knows how to write intriguing female characters as is evident by Josie Quinn and my personal favorite, Claire Fletcher (whose character and series I miss, and hope to see again one day soon).

This was a sister read with Brenda and Kaceey - all 3 of us liked this one a lot and we can’t wait to see what Ms. Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next. For the full Traveling Sister Group Review, please see Brenda and Norma’s Amazing Blog: https://twosisterslostinacoulee.com

Suspenseful, thrilling & unputdownable!

THE GIRL WITH NO NAME (Detective Josie Quinn #2) by LISA REGAN is a gripping, action-packed, and an entertaining read that immediately drew me in to the characters and storyline. This was an extremely fast-paced read that had me rapidly swiping those pages as fast as I could. Actually once I started reading this book I was fully invested in this story and read it in one day. I couldn’t put it down. When I wasn’t reading it I was thinking about it.

LISA REGAN delivers a character-driven story here with lots of twists and turns and extremely compelling characters. Josie Quinn is probably one of my favorite female detectives and I am totally invested in her character. Her character is probably the best part of this series as well as the supporting cast. It isn’t hard to get wrapped up in this book along with Josie and her team. I don’t think I was distracted once while I was reading this one.

This was a Traveling Friends Group Read and upon finishing this one I quickly read book #3 in this series and I must say that one was even better than this one and this one was one heck of a ride!

Norma’s Stats:
Cover: I love this cover! I am a country gal and anything that looks rustic or haunting is very appealing to me!
Title: Intriguing, suspenseful, and an extremely fitting representation to storyline.
Writing/Prose: Well-written, gripping, and proficient.
Plot: Twisty, action-packed, compelling, fast-paced, held my attention fully and highly entertaining.
Ending: The ending was pleasing and satisfying but just made me want more Josie so upon finishing this one went right into reading the next in the series, HER MOTHER’S GRAVE.
Overall: This series just keeps on getting better with each installment! Would recommend!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Lisa Regan for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review.

5 Stars With No Name 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the second book in the Josie Quinn series and I loved it... it was even better than the first! I might need to rethink my entire I’m not crazy about police procedural thing.... because the last few I have read I have loved so much! This book had me from the first page and did not let go until the very last.... it was the kind of book you didn’t want to put down, because you had to know what was going on... and I was never disappointed by any of the twists and turns or reveals.... and as I was playing amateur detective I actually kind of got something right this time! There is hope all... there is hope!🕵🏻‍♀️

Josie is a great character... and I liked getting to know even more about her in this book.... there are a few secrets still to be revealed, but that just keeps me wanting more..... The character who I enjoyed the most in this book was Noah... I thought his character growth from the previous book was remarkable and I love his relationship with Josie.... Lisa Regan if you’re reading this review, I’d really love to see a little love interest between the two of them, just saying.... The character I am looking most forward to getting to know better is Gretchen... I’m sure that girl has a story to tell.... and the character I was most disappointed in in this book was Luke... for obvious reasons....

Along with all these fabulous characters we had a compelling story.... as I mentioned above I solved a little of the crime as I played detective... but WOW did not see all that coming for sure! And what I love about this is yes there was a big twist and reveal.... but all the pieces fell into place and it was extremely realistic.... as I’m sure you can tell from my review I am more than ready for the next book in this series.... cannot wait to see the growth in the characters and what they are up to next....

Strongly recommend to fans of crime thrillers with fabulous characters....

*** thank you so much too Bookouture and Net Galley for a copy of this fabulous book ***

I grew to love Detective Josie Quinn even more in this story. In the first book to the series Vanishing Girls, it took me a while to warm up to Josie and really connected to her character. It was her relationships that won me over. I was happy to see Josie still connected to the relationships I became invested in and to see her dealing with some of the fallout of Vanishing Girl. This allowed me to see her as a more realistic character.

I was intrigued right from the start when Josie is called to a crime scene and realized the victim has a connection to her from Vanishing Girl. As Josie digs deeper she finds a connection to her fiance and the story became even more interesting for us as I tried to piece together the crime.

Lisa Regan took me down another intense heart-pounding fast-paced road again with twists and turn and an ending we didn’t see coming. I highly recommend both books to this series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for Josie Quinn!!

Josie, the interim sheriff is called to a scene of a possible home invasion. The female victim is now in the hospital with life threatening injuries. Compounding her troubles, her newborn baby is nowhere to be found.
Eventually, the investigative trail leads too close to home for Josie. Her problems nearly run parallel to that of this latest victim. Josies’ fiancé Luke is missing and an unknown woman is found in his home with no memory of who she is or why she was there.
As the case begins to unfold, deeply-held secrets may be uncovered that would change her life forever.

A lightning-fast read that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. I adore the detectives working with Josie! Noah is fast becoming a new favorite character for me. (Book crush!) Hoping his role will be even bigger in the next installment!

I’m quickly becoming a huge Lisa Regan fan. I enjoyed the first book in the series The Vanishing Girls but this one was just that much better! The third book in this series Her Mother’s Grave is to be released July 2018. I’m already standing in line! Keep them coming Lisa!

EXCERPT: . . . the man was careful to keep his face in profile to the cameras. Jane Doe stood frozen in place. After a brief, tense exchange, the man grabbed her upper arm - not gently - and pulled her toward the door. She looked up toward the ceiling, craning her neck, searching until she found the dead-eye of the camera. Then she looked directly at it and mouthed two words: 'Help me.'

ABOUT THIS BOOK: Detective Josie Quinn is horrified when she’s called to the house of a mother who had her newborn baby snatched from her arms.

A woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she is so terrified…

Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?

As Josie digs deeper, a letter about a mix-up at a fertility clinic links the nameless girl and the missing child to a spate of killings across the county. Josie is faced with an impossible decision: should she risk the life of one innocent child to save many others… or can she find another way?

MY THOUGHTS: This is the second book I have read by Lisa Regan, and the second in this series. There is a lot going on in The Girl With No Name, but Regan is skilled at weaving seemingly disparate threads into a solid and suspenseful story; the sort of writing that has you vowing to read 'just one more chapter', but has you sitting up late into the night until you finish the book.

Josie doesn't seem to have much luck with men. Her first husband was killed (see the first book in this series 'The Vanishing Girls'), but now she has Luke in her life and is busily planning their wedding. Only something is wrong. Luke is becoming more distant by the day, and then he disappears in mysterious circumstances that tie him to the case she is working on, the missing newborn baby and the Jane Doe who professes to have no memory. The Mayor is on her back, for multiple reasons, and there are a series of 'accidental' deaths that may not be accidental at all - a drowning, two hit and runs, a boating accident, a crushing, a fall from a balcony and one death by carbon monoxide poisoning.

While you could possibly read The Girl With No Name as a standalone, it would be better to read The Vanishing Girls first as it provides a great deal of personal background for the main characters.

I did have one issue with the feasibility of one of the occurrences in the story, hence the 4-star rating, rather than 5-stars. But in spite of this, The Girl With No Name was a fast paced, exciting read, and I wait with anticipation for the next book in this series.

THE GIRL WITH NO NAME is book 2 in a new crime series featuring Detective Josie Quinn by author Lisa Regan. Having enjoyed reading VANISHING GIRLS, book 1 in the series, I was anxious to continue to read more about Detective Josie Quinn and see where the journey takes me.

If you have not read, Vanishing Girls, I would suggest you do. This book does work well as a standalone novel but if you read Vanishing Girls first, you will gain more insight to the characters and their history.

Detective/Chief Josie Quinn goes on rollercoaster of a ride/journey in this story. This is a mystery with so many layers and multi-plots that the reader must pay attention and follow the clues closely.

Detective Josie Quinn is horrified when she’s called to the house of a mother who had her newborn baby snatched from her arms.

A woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she is so terrified…

There is also the disappearance of her fiancé Luke, and as Josie investigates further, a letter about a mix-up at a fertility clinic links the nameless girl and the missing child to a wave of killings across the county. Josie must try to find and save both.

This is a new crime thriller series that shows a promising future. I look forward to getting to know Josie better in the next book from this series.

Many thanks to Bookouture via Netgalley for my copy.

Chief of Police, Detective Josie Quinn’s day off relaxing with her fiancé was interrupted by a call to a house she was familiar with. But the horror she and her partner, Lieutenant Noah Fraley faced on arrival shocked them to the core. A young mother who had just given birth; a lot of blood; and no baby. Immediately an Amber Alert was issued for the newborn child. The lack of information to go on frustrated Josie and Noah but they started doing what they did best.

When a second abduction occurred, the young woman seen fleeing the scene was swiftly captured. But she declared she didn’t know who she was, why she was there, what had happened. But did Josie believe her? It seemed the girl with no name was the only link to the terrible things that were happening. Would they be able to break through the girl’s barriers before it was too late for both those missing?

The second in the Detective Josie Quinn series is exceptional! Gritty and fast-paced, The Girl With No Name by Lisa Regan tests everyone from Josie down to the sergeant on the reception desk. Twists galore, bodies mounting – the tension was rising at a rapid rate! An excellent thriller, The Girl With No Name ticks all the boxes. Lisa Regan is an author I’ll definitely continue to read. I loved the first in the series, now I can’t wait for the third! Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital copy to read and review.

The second book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and it was even better than the first.

The book hits the ground running when Josie is called to the house of a mother whose newborn baby has been taken. The race is on for Josie, Noah and the team to discover who has taken the baby and why. At the same time Josie's partner, Luke, also disappears and she finds herself working in some very difficult circumstances.

It is a great story with lots of different parts which all eventually come together. Each chapter leads in the next and it is hard to put the book down. The character development is very interesting. Luke gets rather a bad rap, but Noah turns into someone pretty special. I hope we see a lot more of him.

The book ended in the very best way with a major twist and lots of excitement. I am really looking forward to book three.

I received a free copy of The Girl With No Name (Detective Josie Quinn, #2) from NetGalley for my honest review.

I was thrilled to get a copy of this book as I absolutely loved the first book in the series, Vanishing Girls. I loved the characters, and found the book to be just as wonderful as the first book. I am not a person who normally gets into series books but am so pleased with these. Fantastic book, wonderful plot, great details and lots of excitement. Murder, extortion, kidnapping, oh my. I highly recommend this book series. It will not disappoint. Can't wait for the next book.

Police Chief Josie Quinn is called out to investigate an attack. Misty Derossi, the stripper who had an affair with Josie's late husband, has been severely beaten and left for dead. She was found in her home in grave condition. Her newborn son is missing. Josie believes whoever tried to kill Misty took the baby.

After a long day of searching for the missing child, Josie discovers that her fiancé, Luke, is also missing. There is a pool of blood in his kitchen where there is evidence of a struggle. As the search for Luke begins, Josie finds a woman fleeing the scene. This woman doesn't know her name or how she came to be at Luke's house. Josie needs to figure out if she knows anything about Luke's disappearance.

The second book in the Josie Quinn series kept me glued to the pages. This story had lots of twists and turns. I never knew what Josie and her team would find next. This is a fast-paced book with edge-of-your-seat suspense. I can't wait for the next book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Having loved Vanishing Girls I couldn’t wait to get started with The Girl with No Name and it didn’t disappoint. Lisa Regan has written another gripping, twist-filled read that I just couldn’t get enough of. If you are looking for a new series to get stuck into then I very much recommend this one.

Detective Josie Quinn goes on quite the journey in this story, and the reader is right there with her on this rollercoaster ride of a read. As with Vanishing Girls, the plot here is a true mystery with so many layers and different story arcs playing out that it’s hard to know where to start when discussing it. A baby is stolen from its mother right after being born (and returning readers will recognise who this mother is) and a woman fleeing the scene is then found with seemingly no knowledge of who she is or what led her to be in the area. Add into the mix the disappearance of her fiancé Luke, mysterious deaths across the country and a fertility clinic and we have one of the most enjoyable and twisty stories I have had the pleasure of reading recently.

I love Josie as a character and also the team that she has around her. I have a particular soft spot for her lieutenant, Noah, and really enjoy reading about this duo working together. Josie takes on these cases herself, despite being the chief and having a team to work for her, the cases being so close to home means that they consume her and give her that focus to get answers and results. She is one of the most fiercely determined characters I have read about and quite ruthless too. Despite her past always playing a part in her present, she has quite a good handle on things, also in spite of how close she is to these cases. The plot moves along at a fast pace and the reading experience is just so effortless because the writing is fantastic and draws you right into the story and I was absolutely gripped by what I was reading.

The story here is one of those where you think you’ve worked something out only for some huge development to come along and smack you in the face, and that happened multiple times in this story. I was impressed with the depth to the tale woven here and felt more emotion as I read because the majority of the characters involved were returning from Vanishing Girls. My opinion on characters from the first book changed completely as I read here, some I loved and some I loathed and others I was left disappointed by. Books that draw reactions like this from me are always a favourite of mine and show that the author has done a fantastic job. Lisa Regan is a real talent and I have enjoyed these first two Josie Quinn books a lot and cannot recommend them enough. If you like your crime fiction packed with twists, drama, fantastic characterisation and gripping storytelling then this is a series you need to be reading.

Detective Josie Quinn is back again with her team in a thrilling crime fiction. VANISHING GIRLS was first in this series and I highly recommend reading that one first, even though is easily a stand alone. The characters are outstanding and it gives the readers an understanding into their back stories.

Josie is called to a crime scene that leaves her reeling. A woman has given birth in her bathroom and then had the baby grabbed out of her arms. The woman just happens to have been the girlfriend of her then husband, another cop, who was killed.

The only lead she has is a nameless woman caught fleeing the house, wearing her finance's nightshirt. She says she has no memory of who she is, where she came from, and what she's doing here. On top of everything else, Luke, Josie's intended, is missing, as well.

Is this woman a killer ... or is she a victim? How does she know Luke, and why is she wearing his shirt? Josie has already survived one cheating husband ... is it happening again?

With bodies dropping like flies, Josie and her team begin a frantic race to find not only the baby, but Luke as well.

The author's writing of this mystery is brilliant. There are so many twists and turns with suspects galore. Interspersed between chapters are newspaper articles relating the death of a young person of some accident or another. There are more than one, and it's hard to understand what they have to do with the story ... but it does make sense the more you read.

I've read several books by this author and she has never disappointed me. I look forward to the next adventures of Josie Quinn and her team.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

YUP. I DID THIS WRONG

description

Ehem Goodreads reviewers - when you “note” that a book in a series can be read as a stand-alone, MAKE SURE OF THAT. Because after reading 10 reviews that said this can be read as a stand-alone, I READ IT AS A STAND-ALONE.

AND.
I.
SHOULDN’T.
HAVE.

Oh no, I’m not bitter at all. 🙃😅

But seriously, this book should be read as part of the intended series because I was mind-boggling confused 🤷🏻‍♀️

It was like walking into a room where everyone knows one another and you know no one and they purposefully avoid introductions. YEP. AWKWARD TURTLE.

description

Confusion aside, though, this here book tried too hard to have too many OMG moments.

WAY. TOO. HARD.

Allow me to break this down for you: you got two cops who are engaged, one gets kidnapped and the other is on the case to find him. Then there’s this newborn baby that’s being hot-potatoed 🥔👶🏼 between a shady casino dude and an even shadier philanthropist. Then you have this drama with a sperm bank and “evil DNA” 😈🧬Cop girl’s late husband is now a dad, but also he’s dead? And then, like, everyone else gets murdered. And then there’s a birthday party. SURPRISE 🥳

description

description

Those aren’t spoilers because, like, good luck figuring out how they all play well together in the same story. Just saying 💁🏻‍♀️

So yeah, ummm. Yeah. I dunno. 3 stars? Sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I mean. It was weird. Probs the most “say what” plot line I have read this year. So that counts for something.

Loving book 2. This is a story involving a baby, fertility and lies.

It gripped my attention from chapter one and mostly keep on going.
Intense just as any suspense should be.

You also have characters popping in from book one so be sure to read that one first, also, you will get to see some changes in Josie.

Really enjoyed the writing, the plot and the pacing of the plot.

Detective Josie Quinn - for the moment, Chief Josie Quinn - knew the person who lived in the home they'd been called to. The young woman had been beaten badly, plus had just given birth. Where was the baby? And who was the woman fleeing the scene? With the baby's mother in hospital and the woman who fled the scene vowing she doesn't remember who she is or anything leading up to what happened, Josie was bamboozled. But soon dead bodies were being discovered, all connected to one particular person. And Josie's fiance was missing, along with the baby. What was going on? Would they find the baby alive; find Luke alive? And how many others would die before Josie, Noah and Gretchen found the answers?

My second reading of The Girl With No Name, 2nd in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan, and I loved it just as much the second time around! As I read it first back in 2018, it it's not surprising I didn't remember details. But the characters are perfect and I'm looking forward to #3 next month. Highly recommended.

the setup…
Interim Police Chief Josie Quinn is called to a house where the young woman was viciously beaten and in serious condition. The address is familiar to her as well as the woman. But when it becomes clear that she had recently given birth, Josie and her team get in high gear to search for the missing baby boy. The investigation leads them to Luke Creighton, Josie’s fiancé, but they find another crime scene at his home…and a woman who can’t remember how she got there or her name.

the heart of the story…
Everything about the investigation is personal for Josie and she straddles the ethical lines as she continues to take lead. There are so many tentacles, some that reach the mayor’s office and a man of significant influence and power. Around every corner was another clue that magnified the mystery. All the while, I was wondering how Luke was involved and whether Josie should continue to trust him. Nothing was clear and the suspect list kept changing.

the narration…
The narrator continues to be a challenge despite her strong storytelling skills. Her mispronunciations of common words reflect her unfamiliarity with American versions of the language.

the bottom line…
This was a pretty tangled mystery that raised lots of questions beyond the missing baby and Luke. My theories panned out somewhat but not entirely with the stunning conclusion. I was just as worried as to whether Josie’s relationship with Luke would survive. I enjoyed the story despite my issues with the narration. Fortunately this gets resolved by the fourth book. 3.5 stars

3.5 stars on installment #2 of the Josie Quinn series

As chief of police, Josie finds herself right in the heart of criminal activity and this time it strikes close to home. This installment has some nice connections back to book #1 and some of those characters appear in this one. This one had quite a few plot twists and I had a bit of difficulty following all of the names and motivations. The villain reveal and motivation was quite the shocker to me.

I have been enjoying this series as a binge read and getting to know a new author. We learn a bit more about Josie in this one, but I'm anxious to get to book #3 that delves more into Josie's past.

The Girl With No Name seems to be the 2nd book in a series after Vanishing Girls by Lisa Regan. I did not read the first book and I was able to read this book just on its own. It’s a very fast paced crime story that has lots of twist and turns throughout with a baby disappearing, many persons pop up murdered and no one knows who did it. Thank you for this complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

While I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as the first in the series, it was an excellent read nonetheless! I loved seeing more of Josie Quinn, she really is a strong, kickass female and I’m all for it. Seeing her growth from book one to this one was quite interesting and a big part of why I enjoyed this read so much. My only minor complaint is that the story got a bit overwhelming. At one point there was just so much going on that I couldn’t keep track of what was happening. But other than that this is a truly excellent thriller and a definite must read!

3.5 I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first in the series. I think there were too many characters to keep up with in this one. It was still entertaining though. On to the next one.

review to come after holidays

The Girl With No Name (Detective Josie Quinn Book 2) is a fantastic read. I enjoyed this more than book one and that was great too! Lisa Regan is a great writer who I have recently discovered and have enjoyed everything of hers that I have read - this one is no exception.

Josie Quinn is enjoying a rare day off at home with her fiancé Luke when she gets called out to a home that she is familiar with. A woman has been attacked and her new born baby abducted. A woman is seen running from the house, but when Josie finds her she is unable to remember anything.

The race is now on to find the baby safe before anybody else is hurt. Josie and her team work tirelessly to solve this case. Who has taken the baby and why? And what are the connections to Josie?

The character of Josie is developed a lot more in this book. Her relationships with her family and team become stronger. This series is just getting better. Looking forward to the next book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

This is book 2 in the detective Josie Quinn series and the second of the traveling friends binge read.
The story is a little bit more unbelievable than the first but you are still gripped with the need to find out who, what, how and why.
So far this is a great detective series which I would recommend if you you want 'oh my god' moments thrown into a page tunning police thriller then this is it.

4.5* --> 5*

The Girl With No Name is the second instalment in the Detective Josie Quinn series and what a follow-up it is! If you’ve read the first one, then I’m sure you’ll remember Misty. She’s found brutally attacked in her own home and her newborn baby has gone missing. Josie needs to put aside any and all personal differences to focus on the task at hand. However, things will take a far more sinister turn and with the mayor breathing down her neck, Josie may need to ask for help from some unexpected sources.

Denton may be a small town but when things happen, they sure happen in style. From a woman broken and battered in hospital, to a girl who apparently can’t remember who she is, to a missing baby and business men wanting to build a casino … all these various threads kept me entertained from beginning to end. Meanwhile, we also get glimpses into the trial of the Interstate Killer and some newspaper articles that seem so incredibly random, you can’t but feel they play a part somehow. Not that I could figure it out and the author kept me guessing until the answer was almost spoon-fed to me.

This plot is insanely action-packed. Forget about a slow build-up as it’s all systems go from the first page. As Josie and her team chase down leads from one location to the next and the body pile starts mounting up, I felt there was barely any time to take a breather. Never mind the characters being tired, I was exhausted myself!

Josie is as fierce as ever and despite things getting her down, she’s determined not to give up. She may have accidentally gotten the role of Chief but she convinced me that it was right for her. For now, anyway. But for me, Lieutenant Noah Fraley completely steals the show. Sympathetic, level-headed and always there by Josie’s side, he’s most definitely someone you can count on. And even though I tend to have this thing against reporters, I even warmed to Trinity this time around.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Vanishing Girls, the first book in this series, but I feel this one is even better. I do so love it when a series goes from strength to strength. The Girl With No Name is utterly gripping, a true page-turner that had me completely absorbed. I can’t wait to see where Lisa Regan takes the team next.

This is the second Josie Quinn thriller by Lisa Regan who wrote the brilliant Claire Fletcher books. This series is more police procedural/thriller than Regan's other works.

Josie Quinn is the Chief of Police in Denton. She is called out to a scene where a woman, Misty Derossi had been brutally beaten. When she gets there she finds evidence that Misty had recently given birth but there is no sign of the baby. The search is on. Soon after, Josie arrives at Luke's place (her fiancé) to find a large puddle of blood on the floor but no sign of Luke. There is, however, an unknown woman there who claims she woke up at Luke's house with no memory of who she is or how she got there. Mysteriouser and mysteriouser. Now Josie has a missing baby, a missing fiancé and a woman who doesn't know who she is.

But keep reading because it gets even weirder. This was a very entertaining story with plenty of twists and surprises.

I'm completely in love with the Detective Josie Quinn series! I'm going to try to pace myself with these books but not sure if I can because I'm already itching to start the 3rd book.
