Shh, There’s a Beast in the Imperial Palace

Rate this book
Just before his death, Chi Jun one-sidedly broke up with Gu Yanzheng. His claws came out as he screamed, “You old tree, get lost! I am fed up with you!”

Then Chi Jun’s two paws held down the zombie emperor and… they perished together.

Once he woke up again, Chi Jun discovered that as a person with the beast transformation and metal ability, he became a little lion of the imperial palace. The tree in the courtyard next to the imperial palace was extremely familiar.

The little lion struggled over the wall and secretly marked beneath the tree. Then the major general, who was away on an expedition, looked at his feet and fell into thought…

This novel was a crazy thing. Half the time I wasn't sure what was going on and the other half I was laughing my head off. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that I had read a spin-off of this book last year and that's why I was so familiar with the style. All in all, I had tons of fun, it didn't make a lot of sense, but I have no regrets.

Cute little fluff story with an established relationship just trying to figure out how to be together again. It's light on any real substance and the ending is abrupt but I genuinely enjoyed both of the main characters and the robot housekeeper trying so hard to become a fifth member of the family. He's my favorite.
Pros:
the fight me!MC
Doting!gong
Old Iron's just trying his best to not get overwritten and dreams of being one of the family
Poor Song Bohao being eternally compared to the ML like he has any chance of winning that
the bad guys get satisfyingly punished
A tree and a lion is one of the weirder things cnovels have tried to get me to ship but it made my wife send me a series of incredulous emojis telling her about it so it's great

Cons:
the kid is only there to sell meng and be a plot device
no seriously the ending is so abrupt that it's a bit like slamming into a wall
describing it, it seems like this story should have plenty of substance but if you look at it too closely it's like Swiss cheese, big gaping holes of what could've been

Cute and fluffy. Same author as "Number 1 Lazy Merchant of the Beast World", which is why I had to read this one immediately after discovering that fact. Maybe a bit too similar in terms of the story beats, so I'd recommend NOT reading them back to back. Read a few other things in between and spread out the fluff.

A bit disappointed that the pair from Lazy Merchant have a 2 second cameo at the end but don't actually appear properly. Even just a scene or two would have been nice, let them meet each other.

Extremely short read- about 2/3 or even half a day. However, the plot is still pretty good and it was quite enjoyable. Still, it does lose to its predecessor (NOLMBW) which has quite similar tropes/ background.

kinda sweet and fluffy but could have more. I feel that it kinda ended abruptly... And I wish I could have read more about like everything. or maybe friendly relationships with ML and MC of NOLMBW.

Good one-time read

About the same as its prequel, but worse and more boring....
I truly can't recommend it.
