Because I'd I had to pay for it, I'd be demanding my money back! First of all, the author does not know the difference between a Square knot, and a Granny knot. She demonstrates this lack in one of the early photos of her first big project...Of the 23 "square" knots pictured, only 5 are actually square knots, the rest are Granny's. You do not have to be an Eagle Scout to know the difference. Several of the projects have nothing to do with Macrame.... One is leather work, another is a wooden bath mat! Several times she mentions "found the best price here" but it's not a link, nor is there any other clue... There are abbreviations used in several of the project directions...but no glossary of what those abbreviations are FOR. Don't waste your money...even if it IS free!
This was originally borrowed to get an idea of what macrame was all about. While there were a couple of interesting designs, overall this book was severely lacking. It was clear that some portions weren’t edited at all, the formatting was incredibly inconsistent, and there were projects included that had NOTHING to do with macrame. A bath mat made entirely of wood? A cord attached to a picture frame? Not. Macrame. I gave it two stars because i at least learned a few techniques. Some twice even, since the book was clearly not edited. Don’t waste your time. There are better books, YouTube videos, blogposts, etc where you can find the same (and better) information.
The "author" of the book has copy and pasted the text and photos in this book from multiple blogs without crediting anyone. The photo of the author also appears on a dentist's website and a prescription glasses advertisement. Stay far far away from this mess.
This books is full of projects for everyone, no matter your preference. Lots of images to go along with the directions. Easy to understand, even for beginners.
