Ok, up front, I'll tell you I'm biased here - I'm married to the author.

But that puts me in a unique position to tell you that, when you get Meaghan's book, or even if you don't get her book but follow her blog and other work regularly, you get the author as well! Meaghan pours everything she has into her writing, and working on the blog, and constantly interacting with all the people who write to her. There are many, many great books out there by many big names, similar to this one, but how many of them can you say that, if you have a question, you can write to the author herself and get a personal answer?

I wish it weren't the case. Meaghan is always working! But she loves coming up with new and interesting things for people to do, and she loves even more seeing the wonderful and creative things that others do yourselves. So I hope you buy the book and enjoy it, but even if you don't buy it, I hope you'll take the time to follow her work and get to know her a little. I guarantee she's worth the five stars!

Looks like an excellent primer & inspiration book for someone new to the 'baking-crafty' world. Written by blogger-extraordinaire Meghan Mountford, you can sample her work upfront on her blog The Decorated Cookie, or for a gathering of all types of things crafty and edible in the blogosphere on her site Craft Gossip-Edible Crafts. I'm looking forward to getting a copy of this when it comes out!

This book was ok. I expected more recipes, based on the information my library provided, but the book focuses more on creativity and design with a few basic recipes- which is fine, but it's not the kind of book I prefer. That being said, I did find a few interesting things in here, such as a simple candy clay, much like fondant or marzipan, which seems a little easier to make, handle, and just might taste better.

Enjoyed spending some time with this from the library. If you're into decorating & fondant, this would be 5-starts. I only gave it 2 because I'm more of a rustic presentation, function over form baker. But I appreciate her work!

Sugarlicious is a great photographic resource for cake/cookie decorating ideas. If you want recipes, there are a few, but I would use this more as a guide to make cute, detailed decorations.
