This is a cute beginning readers book illustrated with clever CGI and photograph collages. In this story, the "Wonder Pets" team tidy up a vacant lot and help a tree sapling to grow. The Pets and the story illustrate humane values like teamwork, caring for others, and eco-awareness. They repeat a positive refrain throughout the story, of the Wonder Pets' commitment to helping all living things.
My only concern with this book is that two of the Wonder Pets, the duckling and the turtle, are depicted as living in substandard cages which would not be healthy for real-life members of their species.
The overall positive message and definite kid appeal of the Nickelodeon brand make this one a winner, and you'll want to have it on hand for your humane/environmental education unit.
