Life is tough for Alena Vetrov, and with an ailing grandmother and unemployed mother to support, she turns to easy money in an international mail-order bride service.
Only she gets more than she bargained for.

A very tantalizing warm up that includes murder, intrigue, and a gold-digging mail-order bride. Alena may be in for much more than she bargained for when, unbeknownst to her, her "fiance" Peter is replaced by Chen. Things are just getting warm - or rather hot - when part 1 ends.
I followed along with the audiobook. Jonathan Waters has a wonderful voice. Soothing yet controlling. Yum!
Would not have gotten this book if I had known it was just a couple of chapters. Very disappointed. I was ok, but nothing to make me want to pay for another book
Well written, full of lies, murder, abuse, BDSM, revenge and twists. May not be for some, does have some triggers. Chen is a very dark soul and hears about his friend being shot. He goes to the hospital to see Peter and fine out what happened. Peter asks him to take care of his "swan". He tries to sees him the next day but finds out that he has died. Alena is a Russian bride and met Peter on line and they plan to marry. Chen thinks she has something to do with Peter's death and decides to pose as him. He meets her and wow, they have lots of dark scenes between them. He tries to get her to tell him about herself but she has secrets. He decides to teach her all about BDSM and his likes. After their fake wedding, she has a change of heart and runs. He does find her and wants to teach her another hard lesson. Lots of action to keep you turning the pages. Would recommend to some.

This is an interesting start to a series, ended on a cliffhanger. A murder mystery is unfolding, and the beginning of something else is starting. Alena is a Russian girl who is going into a marriage thru a matchmaker agency, she thinks she is marrying Peter, but is she?
Marginally well written first part of a series, but just not my cup of tea. Character development is minimal. I did like the murder mystery part, but disliked the drama. I am glad that I got this for free from BookFunnel, otherwise I would have been disappointed in paying so much for such a short chapter. The writing was not good enough for me to pay for the following chapters. YMMV
This is the story of Alena and Chen both have secrets. Chen is looking for his friend's killer and pretends to be someone else. Will he find out and will he find out what Alena is hiding? Their story ends in a cliffhanger.

This is a short explosive beginning to what promises to be a good romance in time. A Russian goldigger and a Chinese Gang billionaire pretending to be his friend to find out how is friend got beaten up and then died.
This book was not too good. I was intrigued before I started but I feel like the book never really fully started. That’s probably because it’s so short and the first episode but the book did not really leave me wanting to read the next episode.
What a hard choice Alena has to make. A short-term financial windfall or a chance to find lasting love. You could feel the emotional dilemma Alena was experiencing.
