Meet our three bears of North America. Bears roam North America from the Canadian Arctic to the forests of the southeastern United States. Black, grizzly, and polar bears are thrilling to see in the wild and exciting to study. Black bears can be seen just a short distance from populated areas. Their numbers are stable and even increasing in some places. Unlike black bears, however, grizzly bears are a rare sight. Polar bears are not easy to see either, living in lands that are difficult to reach. Ron Hirschi and Tom Mangelsen have spent many hours observing bears in the wild. Together, they are the perfect guides into the secretive world of bears.

This is a book that tells about many different types of bears that can be found in the wild.

The title of this book made me curious about this book. I thought that it may have a play on the three little bears. I was disappointed that there was no reference to that story and instead was a rather uninteresting. The information was presented in a way that was bland. The text had facts in it but a list of facts does not make an exciting read. Although this book had many of the elements of non-fiction I would not recommended this book to be used in the classroom.

Very beautiful and informative book. Did you know that a grizzly bear can run as fast as a Kentucky Derby racehorse? Being from the great bluegrass state and watching a few derbies in my day that would tell me don't get to close to one of those babies. Did you know that each one of a polar bears' hairs is a miniature floatation device and that is why they swim like they can. Awesome photos. Great stuff for all you teddy bear lovers out there.

My son loves bears. So this was a an educational read about all things bears. We learned about different types of bears, where they live, and so many interesting facts about bears themselves. A great read for bear lovers.
