Rate this book
Stone Parker is elated to be removed from another required AFOSI (Air Force Office Investigations) banquet. There had been an event at a Titan II nuclear missile site at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. The Wing Commander needs an investigation, and he needs it now. The Commander, General Dwight D. Mears, has already conducted a preliminary investigation and he is convinced that the missile has been sabotaged. All he needs is for an AFOSI team, to verify his conclusions. However, Stone Parker never rubber stamps any investigation, and when he refuses to rubber stamp this one as sabotage, things unravel quickly. A struggle of wills ensues and Stone finds himself fighting to save the career and future of a young officer. As Parker's investigation unfolds, he discovers that there is an organization within the Air Force and across the military that demands that the young officer become the scapegoat. They need their plan to succeed and they are willing to subvert, sabotage and kill anyone who might divulge the widespread existence and power of the group.
