Great new author!

This is a sci-fi/adventure/thriller romance (with a little horror thrown in). The main character is a woman named Victoria who although well educated works in kind of a dead end part-time job while slowly ... very slowly ... finishes her education. But while working in her lab, duh, duh duuuuuuh!

The mystery and intrigue continues. So much action, magic, and long-ago prophecies. My goodness, all is well written and excitingly explained.

At the same time she is trying to deal with the intrigue Victoria finds she has had an admirer who introduces himself in a rather unusual way. They have instant chemistry. Jack and she click although their attitudes and decisions seem very different.

On top of the interesting story the descriptions are so well done:

"The ice behaved as if alive, growing thicker here, thinning there. Air pockets and deep crevasses lined with jagged glassy razors. The calm blue green color beckoned, promising a peacefulness that never came. Life in this place was defined by struggle."

I just loved it!
