Shifter's Homecoming is number ten in the One True Mate series. I wish I could say that book ten was more straightforward for me to read than the last book, but it isn't. I was just as confused as ever! But this is what I think happened...

The Meadow/Dream World

Trent is stuck in the dream meadow/world for a bit after Smokey, the cat, Trent's echo, led him to the meadow. Trent encounters the catamount and her mate as well as his future mate. Trent has done something foolish in the dream world because his mate does not want to be bothered with him. Trent has many questions, but Smokey has gone quiet, and no answers are given to Trent. Trent's going to have to figure things out for himself and find his mate on his own. Trent's lack of experience as a man won't stop him from claiming his mate.

Trent Burbank has been a non-shifting wolf his entire life when suddenly, after visiting the dream meadow, Trent can shift to man for the first time. Like any average person who hasn't seen their face, Trent can't wait to see his and discovers it, and his body is very handsome, and he likes what he sees. Trent hopes his mate will like what she sees as well. Trent reunites with Troy and meets Troy's mate Reed.

The Present

Dr. Rowan Atenboro (faints at the sight of blood) is clueless as to who and what is heading her way, although she can feel her destiny is about to happen. Rowan remembers her mother's stories about the people who shift into wolves and low and behold; one turns out to be her mate. Rowan is instantly attracted to Trent and finds herself in a make-out session without even knowing his name! Fortunately or unfortunately, the pair are interrupted by none other than Khain's lackey's presence at Rowan's lab/apartment, which brings Troy and Reed into the fold. Trent and Troy assess the threat and prepare to remove it.

Overall Impressions

The storyline sounds simple enough, but it is anything but simple. The story is a convoluted, twisted tale about poison, the neutralizer to the poison, and OTM's big bad that never appears very long, Khain, wreaking havoc in Serenity, again! There's only one casualty that won't make it to OTM11 despite the supposed imminent danger that is always present.

I'm not blown away with Rowan and didn't feel any chemistry between her and Trent. As with all the other shifters, Trent and Rowan will move into VF and join the rest of the pack where everybody knows everybody's business. Troy is a complete child (I don't remember him being as childish in his story when he mates Reed, but maybe I've just forgotten).

My brain can finally rest. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

The couple: Trent and Rowan

Romance trope: shifter
Series: One True Mate
Length: 354 pages

Plot: Trent always knew that he would have to sacrifice his life to save others and that time has finally come. But it doesn't go quite as he thought it would. Graeme was correct in that Trent is a sort of time traveler, and the newly-shifting wolfen finds himself in a different reality, unable to connect with his wolf and charged with finding the woman with a vaccine. What he discovers is far more than a vaccine, but he needs just a little more help to see everything through.

Commentary: Trent was definitely not as fun as Troy, but I did find it interesting that Rowan existed and was working on the poison/vaccine problem the whole time and hardly anyone knew. It seems that she was the solution to all their problems all along. Science for the win! And real-world's Rowan was much better than alternative-world's Rowan.

Previous book in the series: Shifter's Dream

Trent is not as liked as some of the other characters but still a great story.

I love the characters and they way Lisa instills the humour and banter cracks me up.

I love this series and the books just keep getting better and better. Lisa's imagination knows no bound.

Most people seamed to complain about Crew and Harlan's stories, that they were hard to follow and confusing. I have to say I did not have a problem with those, but this one had me so mixed up I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

The first half of the book is complete confusion for me, mostly because I was expecting something totally different. I wanted the story that we saw from Canon and Timber's view in books 8 and 9. That was what my brain was ready for and wanting, but that is not in any way what we were given. And we never see any of that side of the story either. I was also a bit sad that since he was in the world of Crew's alter self, we did not get to see Mac, I would have wanted that as well. Most likely on a re-read I will be able to grasp the story line a bit better now that the newness and surprise has worn off.

As for the second half of the story, it feels like a completely different story. This is written more like the rest of the series with a more linear progression and we finally get Rowen's POV. Though other than her being his destined mate, this was missing the 'romance' aspect of the story. There was no wooing, it went from they've never met to "oh yeah, that's my mate, whatever".

I did like having a bit more from Troy and Reed. Their story also felt a bit incomplete, so it was nice to get a bit more from them.

Questions on continuity: How was it Conry was able to hold Kendra for the scene without her wanting to kill him? When did they "make-up"?

Narration: I will never say this narrator is my fave. His voice is not one that makes it so I can't listen to the stories but he is also one I would not seek out to hear more from. Though at this point it would be strange for anyone else to narrate the books. Another issue I have is continuity of pronunciations of words. Some of the words in this series are made up for the purpose of the story and that is fine, but I find that from one book to another he pronounces then differently, which then makes the story line harder to follow. This far into the story I'm able to figure it out, but it is still frustrating. And honestly I don't generally care if you mispronounce it, just mispronounce it the same way every time.

In the end notes it is stated that there are 13 books planned and Canon's book is next and we already know Sebastian is last. So Timber's is book 14. I was kinda hoping Conry would get a book, and maybe even Remington (though I don't know if he is mated or not). I am curious to get a felon story.

Dragging and hard to keep with

I will be honest. I thought it was boring and went too long. By the time Rowan showed up more than halfway through the book, I was already over it.

I think I’m over this series. I liked it when I read it years ago but I’m not into it now.

I just don’t love the whole “we met now we’re in love” thing. I’d love to see some actually chemistry and relationship growth. The romance in this specific book was not good. They didn’t do any bonding at all other than physical.

I wish I had read the previous books first

I enjoyed this book but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books first. There was a lot of the back story and supporting characters that I was missing.

Coming Home!!!

The story started off with Trent Burbank, a Wolf shifter who'd never changed into his human form for 31 years. He went after Beast aka one of Jagger's inner animals who'd attacked Harlan. His housecat Smokey followed him and was his companion throughout his quest. But after some time he send Smokey back home and headed on another mission alone, one that led him straight to his one true mate, Rowan.

Rowan Antenboro was a scientist who was searching for a solution regarding the poison in the reservoir that was killing people. She knew she could Trent, she just didn't understand how important she was to him. I realy enjoyed the consistency between this book and the previous ones. Loved the bond between the Burbank brothers, their teammates and their better halves.

It was a treat to catch up with everyone, meet new additions to the growing pack and for Trent to finally get his HEA. Looking forward to what comes next in this incredible series ;).

SHIFTER'S HOMECOMING is the tenth installment in Lisa Ladew's ONE TRUE MATE series. What was intriguing, fun and a great read. A job fabulously done by Lisa Ladew. Two thumbs up!

Why are the books getting longer? Had the first half not been filled with a lot of nonsense then I would have given 4 stars because the second half was better.
"You are a dream traveler, like the One True Mate Dahlia is a traveler"
I guess we're just ignoring that Crew was also a traveler?

So it's been 5 years and nothing new is out. I feel like I just wasted so much time because nothing has been settled other than finally being rid of Rex. Can Grey go next pls

What was the point of Shay having babies?
Where's the "purple " door other than the one Troy found?
Did they forget about Amaranth?
Why don't Conri and Sage get a book?
Have they forgotten about Bruin and Willow?
How are his prophecies no longer coming or relevant?
Why would an angel befriend a horrible wolf like Grey?
If Mrs. White has powers then why couldn't she help her own granddaughter?
How is Graeme not everyone's first choice for protection?
Why does Rogue dislike Reed?
Why is Dahlia so upset about not being pregnant yet? The one true mates were literally created to continue the species. She should realize it's just not the right time.

Trent’s story definitely had to be next after Troy’s, but it has an unexpected twist at the start, so I won’t go into any story detail since I don’t want to give anything away. This is an intense and compelling tale, which will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. There’s the usual Khain intrigue, plenty of drama and strong emotions, and lots of steamy passion. You can’t help but become involved in the story. The characters are so engaging, and the storyline is well-developed, effortlessly pulling you in from the beginning, keeping you easily invested throughout, and leaving you begging for more at the end.

One of the best parts of each story is that the characters are well-integrated into the whole series, and the underlying storyline captures and continues to hold your interest and heart with each book. You will find the outcome of each tale to be well worth the journey. I highly recommend this book and series! I can’t wait to see what’s in store as Canyon’s story is next!

A few twists are revealed in a PNR series that focuses on plot

I do NOT consider these to be stand-alone reads, as they contain reoccurring characters, overlapping / consecutive timelines and overarching themes. i highly recommend reading in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, semi-steamy intimate scenes and violence with themes of good vs evil, murder, torture, betrayal, mental and physical abuse, assault, etc.

⛔️ If you have not read the previous stories in the series, the following may contain spoilers.

There are quite a few grammatical issues (mainly typos, missing and inserted extra words), but there seem to more than the previous story. I am trying to mention this for readers such as myself that visualize the story as reading since errors interrupt the flow.

The world building in the beginning of the story is primarily I with the alternate world previously visited by Dahlia and Crew. This is where we first meet Rowan, Trent’s mate. While I didn’t find the scenes involving the alternate world, Rhen’s Meadow, etc. as chaotic, there are a couple that still need some refinement to be clearer for the reader imo.

I normally try to provide a high-level overview of how the story begins, but I don’t want to provide too many spoilers, so I am going to skip it this time.

I do want to include that there are several bits of information given that was only hinted at in previous stories. A couple of the items came seemingly out of nowhere, but are important to this story and I can only assume future additions.

If you like stories that focuses on action, dialogue, and the storyline / plot more than the heavy intimate scenes, then I highly recommend this series.

One True Mate 10

Of course, I just love Trent and Troy. Those two boys are awesome. A couple ups and downs in this book. It took 30 percent of the book to meet the MFC and then we didn't really meet her until 50 percent. I would have liked to have met her a lot sooner. Not sure why the first 30 percent of the book needed to be so long but I liked the MMC’s thinking,

“He could not spend much time thinking about the fuckery of angels and goddesses or it would piss him off.”

Ten books in and it was completely understandable why he felt this way. And this,

“What is the point of all of this… all of these convolutions? All these mysteries? All this bullshit?”

All questions appropriate for RL too. I like his upset with the bigger forces at work. He's truly a WTF to all of them.

A moment that moved me.

““I want to savor this,” he told her.

She stopped when he said that. She stopped straining for him and really looked at him, and she saw something new in his expression she hadn’t quite understood before.

Love. Burgeoning love for her and her alone. For him, none of this was about destiny or the poison or anything else.

For him, this was about her.”

So many of these stories are about fated love and the question of choice comes up. That he tunes out all the competing forces and just focuses on her, is super sweet. There was something really intense and grounded about his love for her. Well written.

And Troy and Reed are a delight.

Lisa Ladies Has Another Wonderful Book In This Series OVER 18 READING

Having just finished reading the first and second four book sets and loving them I quickly started this one. Now the twin who spent the first thirty-five years of their lives unable to shift to their human forms being always stuck as wolves.. In books #9 & #10 belong to one each as fate sends them each on a different journey that if they went together they would fail. Troy was finally changed to human form with the help of the young but had to learn everything including how to talk with words and walk on two feet not four but learned fast and left for his journey. Trent went on his own journey with him traveling to an alternate world after dying, losing his wolf not being able to reach his crew for help though something (the guardians) has kinda helped in small ways to let him know if he does what he is supposed to all will be well. He will also discover who his mate is even though the twins never thought they could have mates or families of their own since they had never learned to shift. I hope there will be many more in this series as it is so good. I have read all ten without looking at another book which is rare for me usually by the fourth I will switch and read another type of story then go back if there are more to the series but not this time.

10 on the Richter Scale

Lisa Ladew's One True Mate series is one of the best paranormal worlds created. The consistency, detail and imagination is spectacular. The hero in Book 10 is Trent Burbank. A wolf shifter who, in his 31 years, has never shifted into a man. On his hunt to find a fellow shifter he gets detoured by otherworldly creatures where he ends up in another world, on a new, but vague mission. He learns to shift into a man but then finds all kinds of other frustrating and confusing (to him) factors, like finding the woman who seems to be his One True Mate on this parallel world, Rowan. His dilemma grows as he finds his mission frustrating and deadly. But Trent does not give up easily and soon his real world comes to his rescue. Although his family (especially his loveable brother Troy) and friends are thrilled at his dramatic return he immediately returns to completing his unfulfilled mythical quest in his own world.

Lisa Ladew is a marvel as her exposition of the story clearly takes the reader with Trent and Rowan for an exciting, sexy and hair-raising adventure. This is a brilliant, rewarding and captivating story, perfectly aligned with the first 9 books of the series. If you haven't, you should read them all.

4.5 stars, I love Trent!! I will say this book was hard to follow, I took a page from Trent's play book and just went with the flow assuming things would become clear at some point. Trent is the ultimate soldier he accepts his mission even though he doesn't understand. He's thrown into an alternate universe and meet his mate Rowan, except she's not his. I love how instantly committed to her even though she isn't really is (the whole alternate universe thing). A bit confusing at times, this book really takes off once he returns to his world. Unlike his twin, he adapts seamlessly to shifting and being in human form despite not doing so for 30 plus years. Watching him explore literally and figuratively his relationship with Rowan is humorous. Of course there's also plenty of sexy time, he has years to make up for and absolutely loves having his mate. This book felt like the penultimate in the series but based on the author's note there are at least 3 more books. While I love series, like Reed (Troy's mate and Trent's twin) I can't keep up with all the couples and the mates' powers. It would help to have a quick synopsis at the beginning of the next books. Regardless I'm in it for the long haul so bring it.

" I love Rowan and Trent characters.. To Ms. Lisa Ladew think you for being your wonderful stories into our lives.. I hope you don't mind me using a highlight from your stories..💙💖💙 ENJOY THE READ!!!💖💙💖💙😘

"Trent had so many things he wanted to try, so many pleasures that had been denied him for so long, and eventually he would experience them all. For now, though, he would only make sweet, tender love to his mate. He would pour out his heart to her through his touch. He would make her understand just how perfect she was, and just how lucky he was. Some door somewhere opened and Troy barged into the room, heading straight for the kitchen. “Trent, do you have any whipped cream?” he yelled to the house in general. Trent ignored him. He found a blanket on the back of the couch and pulled it over himself and his mate. Rowan giggled underneath him. “Got it,” Troy yelled, then barged right back out the door. “We’ll get a lock for that door,” Trent growled to his mate. “Maybe just for the bedroom,” she whispered back to him. “I like Troy.” After a moment she quietly added, “And I love his brother.” Trent captured his mate’s lips in a kiss. Love. A Mate. Sex. A new home and a new life as a man. The chance to have young. Happiness had finally found him."

So good and so worth the wait. After Troy finally shifted in the last story I have been very patiently waiting for Trent's, I personally love the complicated mix of reality to dream mix, trying to work out what's happening and figure out the solutions. The worry about his wolf and Smokey, the frustration and the pain. I could completely empathise with him. There is a lot going on in this plot, lots suspense and excitement and its easy to get sucked in and held enthralled throughout. I must admit I didn't want to read it to fast, I wanted to completely soak it up and enjoy the ride so I did force myself to drag it out. The consistency as always between this and previous books is astounding, my admiration to the author for keeping it all straight, cant be easy with so many characters, prophecies and elements, it blew me away. I have only read one other paranormal series to rival this and if asked I couldn't choose between them, I marvel at the way the authors minds work and conjure up these amazing stories to keep me and other readers entertained, I know they often doubt themselves but honestly I don't know if its possible to do any better than they do already. Fantastic story.

I will have to say, Lisa did an amazing job with Trent’s story. At first I had to reread parts because I was a little confused but then it clicked. The confusion could have been lack of focus since there is a lot going on right now. All I can say is WOW. Trent’s story was so worth the lllooonnnggg wait.
Troy’s complexity started when he was born and unable to shift. He accepted the fact that he was unable to shift, but he also knew that he was different even though his brother Troy was unable to shift until much later in life. That’s is until his life is turned upside down with a mission he must win. Trent and Troy continue to have a strong bond.
Rowen, Trent’s one true mate, is a scientist who is needed to find a solution for the poison in the reservoir. She’s smart, beautiful, and know exactly what Trent needs even if she doesn’t fully understand her role in his life.
Shifter’s Homecoming is the perfect addition to the One True Mate Series. Even though sone questions still remain, these will probably get resolved in future. This is another Must Read from Lisa Ladew.

Trent and Rowan

Trent went looking for Jagger while Jagger was in his beast mode, to get him to come back home and tell him that everything was all right. However, Trent followed him into a tunnel and he's beast ran by him which started a rock slide which fell on teen's wolf and it was killing him. So Trent ended up in the meadow. Smokey is t
Trent's echo (a cat) and he knew that it meant that he may die, because the meadow reminded him that he was a dream traveler. Trent and his echo were about to go on a mission. But would it be in his dream world (Trinity) or in his real world of Serenity?

I can't say anything else because that would be giving a lot away. This is one of my favorite books in this series. It's pack jamed full of everything a book should have. Action, love, confusion, happiness, the boogie man, and hope. Good going Lisa, I need to hear more about these couples in the future. WOW!

Trent❤❤

Like all the other books in the series of I can rate them over 5 stars I would.
I fell in love with t bbg is series and Trent from the first book and dear lord when i started reading I thought for a moment no Trent is not going to have a happy ending he's going to die i was on edge throughout the whole thing praying he makes it in his quest. I love his and Troy's close bond that got through different worlds. Trent as a wolf was amazing , Trent as a man was even more . Loved his and his mate's story and enjoyed seeing more of Troy and his antics. I really don't want this series to finish and I'm so looking forward to seeing more of these characters. I feel like there's still more things we need to understand about the Angel and Rhen and the mysterious Miss white. And need things to unravel about Khain and why he's trying to destroy shifters and when he does how's that going to affect the foxen and those who follow him wouldn't they get affected too?

A definite must read series

It's been a while since I've read this series (obviously! Lol!!), but I still love it as much as I did before. I was a bit lost when I initially started reading this book, but I was able to figure everything out fairly quickly. I absolutely loved that both of the non-shifting wolves are now able to do so. My heart always broke for them, especially when all of the others were finding their One.
This was an intriguing story with many unexpected twists that will hook you from beginning to end. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

I have to say that I freaking loved the author notes at the end of the book. Even though they were from a few years ago, it was hilarious. Yes, I get that it wouldn't have been quite as funny at the time that it was written. I really enjoy reading this authors work, and hope to see more stories soon.

Love, Love, Love This Series

Shifter's Homecoming is book 10 of Lisa Ladew 's One True Mate series. This is Trent's book. I must start by saying I Love this series. Each book draws you in and keeps you on edge waiting and wanting to see what's next. Trent and Troy have been two of my ask time favorite characters for years now. To finally see them as men and not just non shifting wolves has been everything and more than I imagined. Book 10 is full of mystery, action, heartache, surprises, loyalty and love. Rowan, Trent's mate is perfect for him. We also get to know Reed, Troy's mate better. Lisa did an amazing job with the Trent and Troy's stories. Thank you Lisa for taking the time you needed to give the characters exactly what they needed and deserved. I can't wait to see what's next.

Trent

We finally gets trents story.he was fine in wolf form in previous books so this story goes back a little to show you what's really going on.we have had time travel before but this one felt messy.but you could still follow, but I wondered if she was going to have the power to shift.he called her she-wolf.then I wondered if she would be more Angel with useable wings.(guess she still could be) I was new to this author but lucky for me the first 10 books was out for me to read back to back (on unlimited books) I am a big reader and try to read books that all the series is out, sadly I have to wait for more now as did not realise there will be more.the storyline for the series is wonderful and new and each book storyline (that are all linked) are also good.I felt some gone on a little and don't stay focus on the main thing but all in all a good read.

Omg!

Lisa Ladew, I absolutely loved this story, this is one of your best. The brother's are back together where they belong. I think you making there cabins together like that was ingenious love, love, love it.
For all those out there looking for a good read you have to read this book and if you're just hearing about, OTM ( One True Mate ) then I suggest that you start with book one so you are not lost even though these are stand alone books it's still better to know the other OTM's story to go along with your knowledge. I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I do. 😍🧚‍♀️

Well..............

My first thought is I really did enjoy this book. It's kind of cool how he never shifted before but T still knew how to function because he did them in his dream life and his brother had to pretty much learn how to do everything. My next thought is these books are spaced way to far apart to keep up to even put the pieces together but thats just me. My last thought is R's power are pretty cool considering she doesn't like blood 🤣. I say this with so much love L please have a clearer picture of what's going on in the next book cause I'm still trying to catch up.

Was waiting for Trent's story from the moment he joined the show in the first book.

This was different in a great way. Like Evie's timey-wimey story was a trip. This was close to Crew & Dahlia's too. All thought provoking about dream travelers (something I believe actually happens to me -- I sometimes have very vivid regular life same-but-different & wake up exhausted & hurting, like I over-exercised). Anyway, I was so excited to get Trent's story, I started it two days ago & stayed up until 4:40 a.m. finishing it up. I've devoured the whole series so far...now all I need are the REST of them. Oh & (SPOILER!!) I laughed out loud about Rex!
