And Then There Was #2

And Then There Was Us

Rate this book
I’d needed a job and found myself applying at Lyrics, an intimate jazz bar in the heart of the city. My goal was simple—earn enough money so my ailing father didn’t have to worry about anything.

What hadn’t been in my plans was instantly being attracted to Bishop, my new boss and the resident bartender.

The attraction was insane, and the chemistry was off the charts between us. And the obsession he threw my way should have frightened me, but instead, it made me want him even more.

He was protective, making me feel as if I were the only woman in the world for him. And after a heated night of passionate abandon, I realized he ruined me for all other men. It was the single most incredible experience of my life.

He said—vowed—he’d never let me go, that I was meant to be his… that it was meant to be between us.

And when I all but snuck out of his bed while he still slept, doing the Walk of Shame, I worried things could never work between us.

What I knew for certain was the one-night stand I just had with my boss was something I wanted to experience over and over again.

Because I realized I’d already fallen in love with Bishop.

But life was full of conflict, and mine especially was chaos. Sometimes that was too much for anyone to take on, even for a man who said I was meant to be his.

“I’ve already fallen in love with her, and now I have to make her mine.”

Once again, Jenika nails this interracial romance! It helps that the heroine is named after me. Best gift ever! Sensitivity reading this book was such a pleasure for me. You know why? It’s because JS gets it right. She writes diversity with such ease, and perfection. She nails the important parts that describe this black heroine.

“Her hair was thick and curly, and so dark it reminded me of onyx. Her eyes were big, soulful, and a rich brown that was reminiscent of mahogany. Her dark skin was smooth, flawless, and her lips were pouty and red, drawing my eyes to them over and over again. I thought back to her body when I’d first seen her standing there. Despite the jacket and slacks she wore, I could tell she was curvy, feminine in all the ways that turned me on.”

If I could give an award for the perfect example of letting folks know that this heroine, Korrie, is black in the most natural way, Jenika Snow would get that award.

This book had amazing instalust that quickly tuned into love in the best possible way. And the steam, oh my Lort. H-O-T🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

I love that Jenika isn’t stingy with the epilogues too. Gimme all the epilogues. Love Bishop & Korrie’s story.♥️♥️♥️

And Then There Was Us by Jenika Snow delivers swoony happily ever after in a little neat package. Sometimes size really doesn't matter because this novella was so effectively sinful and sweet.

This is an interracial romance between Bishop, owner of the jazz bar Lyrics and Korrie, the newest bartender. She is in a difficult position mentally ( as her father is extremely sick) and financially ( for her father's medical expense). She feels an instant sense of security with Bishop who is a real knight in shining armour. And he cannot keep her away from his thoughts.

This was a fast paced insta love story and usually I don't feel for instalove. But the author managed to capture all the nuances of a great love story in this short story. Korrie's sweet and sassy personality shines through her selfless love for her father and how she handles herself at a bar. Bishop will make you feel all hot and bothered and at the same time he is a perfect gentleman who wants to just take care of Korrie. They have insane chemistry and this story was just way too hot with a beautiful happily ever after.

If you are in mood of a fast read with lots of feel and steam, And Then There Was Us by Jenika Snow is your next read!

And Then There Was Us is a sweet and sexy, easy read guaranteed to make you equally melt and smile! Both Bishop and Korrie are instantly swept up into love at first sight but with her being the new waitress at his bar they dance around each other the first week or so. In that time they get to know each other a bit, allowing their connection to spark and then build to inferno levels.

Bishop is a delicious combination of gentleman meets possessive alpha. Even though he’s beyond ready to claim her for his own from the start he still let’s Korrie decide for herself how far it’s gonna go. Bringing so much sweetness to his character that his growling and jealousy are simply adorable. Korrie is genuine and steadfast, a character you can easily relate to. She stays true to her main goals and doesn’t let her feelings cloud her vision.

Jenika did a great job at setting the scenery through her words, making it easy to jump right into Bishop and Korrie’s whirlwind meeting. I didn’t feel like it was so rushed that the feelings weren’t even viable, the connection between the characters is solid, but you still get all the heady adrenaline of instalove.

Book 2 in the And There Was series and it was so good. Korrie and Bishop were such a great couple. The chemistry and attraction between them was intense from the first minute that they met when she was at Lyrics for a job. Loved their romance. Their story was well written and drew you in from page one. I fell in love with them and was envious of her and her love for Bishop. I wish I could find a Bishop of my own.

The connection between Bishop and Korrie in And Then There Was Us is hot, hot, hot! I loved watching these two fall in love and find the person they are meant to be with. Jenika Snow does a very good job writing likable, believable characters who feel like real people.

Korrie takes a job at Lyrics the jazz club that Bishop owns. Their attraction is pretty much instantaneous. But he's her boss and that's just messed up, right? She's really a sweet character - kind, loving and working two jobs to help with her father's medical bills.

Bishop is a hottie - and he wants Korrie. Employee or not, she will be his and he won't give her up. I love how sure he was about his feelings for her. Sigh-worthy!

Fun, steamy book that is a really good read.

Gah, I love Jenika Snow so much! This is a steamy insta love interracial story, that give us all the loving feels.

Bishop is the owner of a jazzy club. Korrie is his newest waitress. Korrie has a lot on her plate, with finances and taking care of her ailing father. Bishop fell hook line and sinker for Korrie, which brought out all his alpha protective qualities. Korrie tries to ignore her feelings because he’s her boss, but Bishop won’t let her go without a fight.

Bishop and Korrie are everything and this story is hot hot hot! This book was so good and I’m so glad Bishop, received his HEA.

This was such a good book. Bishop and Korrie were perfect for each other. You could tell by the way they were at their first meeting. I loved the sizzle between them and the love she had for her Dad. I like stories where the parent isn't always a bad person and is loved by a main character. As always, Ms. Snow brings Bishop and Korrie to life in a great way and I hope we get more in this series. I'm honestly loving these!!!

5 Stars!

Jenika Snow is back with the second book in the And Then There Was series and what a romance this was y'all. I adore Jenika and all her words, this new release no different (loved the first one too!).

Korrie and Bishop lead us in this latest standalone, And Then There Was Us and I didn't put this beauty or them down for a single second Steamy. Sweet. Swoony to the max. All of the feels. Just wait until you meet this two and get all caught up in and with them.

Seriously if you haven't read this baby then you are totally missing out. Typical Jenika style with a new flair that you can't help but let captivate and consume you.

I definitely recommend this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Korrie & Bishop. Korrie needed a job to not only make more money but also to make it to take care of her father. So when she found out they needed a waitress at a bar called Lyrics she was really hoping they would give her a shot at that position. See both she and her father are huge jazz fans and this is the place to be to listen to good jazz. When she goes in for an interview though she is blown away by her interviewer Bishop. She can't believe how handsome he is but is sure he doesn't feel the same about her. From the moment Bishop lays eyes on Korrie he knows he will need to make sure no one else can have her. He knows it is wrong to feel this way about an employee let alone a newly hired employee. There is a part of him that does not care and knows she is meant to be his forever. Will these two be able to find that way to the HEA they want or will this just be another missed opportunity for one of them?

This is another amazing hit by this author. This is one of those books that this author puts out that will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. You will want to ignore everything until you read those two words "the end". I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

And the There Was Us....Bishop and Korrie
by CathyHannah

Lyrics is an intimate Jazz Bar in the heart of the city owned by Bishop. Bishop is the boss and the bartender. Korrie has applied for a job as a waitress because she needed another job to help her take care of a father's medical bills. His prescriptions were high because he had an autoimmune disease. Korrie Abernathy walked to the Bar for her interview because the bar was not far from where her and her father lived. Her father and her were close because her mother had died when she was 12 and her father took care of her and worked until he got sick and could not work. Bishop lost his mother when he was in high school. Actually three days before he turned 19 years old she passed. His father was not in the picture and it was him and his mother since as long as he knew. He named the bar after his mother, Lyric, because that was her name and because she loved Jazz and always talked of them getting a bar together. I think this was an entertaining story with wonderful characters. There was not a lot of drama, but the drama that was in this story was of a family nature. I like this story because it showed that love has no color. When you find someone you love it doesn't matter what race or ethnicity they are you just love. I would read another one of her stories because it was not too long and it was well written. I loved the way she handled a BWWM romance.

I absolutely loved reading Bishop and Korrie`s romance! As with all of Jennika Snow`s stories... it`s so incredibly well written and well developed... her writting style just makes you FEEL all the emotions going through the characters! Bishop and Korrie have such a sweet, yet passionate romance... you can´t help but fall in love with them. They were instantly attracted to each other from the moment they saw each other... their connection was instant and powerful. Both of them are such strong and independent individuals... but together they are amazing. Bishop`s obsession with Korrie is borderline possessive... but in the best way possible! Of course, their chemistry is off the charts... and incredibly hot. A great story that I just couldn´t put down until the end .. with no unecessary angst or drama... just passion and love.

Swoon worthy romance at its very best
This author is able to set the scene so perfectly in her books that I often find myself swept up in the story and watching it play out in my mind. With this book she gave us the instant connection that she is so good at and then put life and its roadblocks in the way. But it would not be one of these author’s fantastic books if she didn’t figure out a way for this couple to come together and be what they were always meant to be. This book is a shining star in this author’s library and I am looking forward to wherever her imagination sends me to next.

Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, and shenanigans the good kind that makes you keep turning the pages till last page has been turned. Sexy …sexy Bishop is the owner of Lyrics and Korrie applied there as a waitress to help pay for her father’s medical bills. One look at Korrie is all it took, and he knew she had the job prior to coming in for the second interview. These two the chemistry is electric and touches them both instantly and she brings out all his Alpha protectiveness and they both try to ignore what is going on due to being boss and employee, but will they give in to what is right in front of them and will Bishop finally get his HEA?

Give me all the insta love. I love it, I crave it. Sometimes I need a quickie when I’m stuck in a rut - and Jenika never disappoints. In this Alexa Rileyesque story the beautifully described Korrie is in need of a job to help take care of her father. Little does she know she’ll get that and then some. I love how’s she’s described. I could picture her because she looks like someone like me. And I love Bishop and his possessive, it’s not too over the top. This story ticked all my boxes and I loved the cover.

I have been a big fan of Jenika’s for a couple of years now and this newest story of hers just makes me sigh and fangirl a little more. I am not a huge fan of instalove romances these days but the way Jenika wrote this, it didn’t feel like one. The way this story flowed, it felt natural and meant to be. I loved how strong, passionate and kind Korrie was and Bishop was her perfect match. The chemistry and steam between these two had me fanning myself and contemplating turning on the A/C - it was pure fire. The plot flowed so smoothly and I adored the epilogues that Jenika added in, making me sigh like a lovesick teenager when I reached the end. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to see what this talented author writes next.

Korrie needs a good paying job so she can take care of her sick father, and the only place that calls her for an interview is a jazz bar. The moment she walks in, the sparks are flying between her & the owner Bishop, but even more endearing is the fact that the world stopped when Bishop came face to face with her, and that's something we don't always get to experience in romance. Yeah And Then There Was Us was very instalove, but there are just times when I need something easy that brings the thunder to forget about all of life's little problems so I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. Plus, I really wanted a Bishop of my own & I'm quite happily single with no wish to change that. Anyway, do yourselves a solid by hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

rtc maybe but I wanted to point out that this line “I was a slave to my desires—to this man and all the emotions he brought out in me.” was unnecessary and not something I think a Black character would say. Be more mindful when writing characters of color, in this case Black, if you are white. I had otherwise no problem with this book!

Korrie and Bishop meet as she interviews at his bar, and you can tell it was insta-lust. They didn’t act on it right away. But once they do, boy oh boy, the bed sheets were on fire!

Great story about love, not only a couple-type of love, but a love that a daughter has for her father. Korrie and Bishop lost their mothers at a young age, so they were also looking for someone to make a family with.

The epilogues certainly tie things together and I love how this author does this for us. It’s awesome to see what happens a few months, a year or more in the future.

Short & sweet story. I really recommend you read book "And then there was her" which is just as addictive.

Bishop YES we learn more about him. He has a good head on his shoulders and he treats everyone far. I love that even thou he owns the bar, he works behind the bar and serves drinks. Lyrics his bar's name 😥 the meaning behind it was so beautiful and it just show how big Bishop's heart is.

Korrie is such a amazing, kind hearted and she looks forward not back. Her dad is full of wisdom and I am so happy his health improves.

Korrie & Bishop are just swoon. Oh Adele & Oliver pop up which made me even happier. Both couples I love & I hope we see more of them♥

Korrie decides to put the rest of her college classes on hold too get a job. Because of her fathers health, his medical bills have been adding up. Korrie gets hired at a bar in town called Lyrics. The owner, Bishop, is good when he sees Korrie for the first time and watches her as she works. The feelings are mutual and they don't wait long to show each other. This is a great read of a couple who have an instant attraction to each other that turns into love . There is no need to go slow because they have already made up their minds to be with each other. This is book #2 of the "And then there was" series.

This book brings us BIshop and Korrie. Bishop owns a bar called "Lyrics." Korrie is in need of a job as her father is ill and she wants to help him out. She interviews for a job at Lyrics. Bishop is shocked, as one look at Korrie and he is done. She's it for him. Of course, he hires her and she is so grateful to him. Korrie is also smitten with Bishop, but her father comes first. Korrie had alot on her plate and it was so nice to see Bishop step up and be there for her. This was a quick read but so good. I highly recommend it.

Korrie is needing a job to help her father pay for medical bills and prescriptions as things are getting expensive. She's only had one call back and that is for the amazing Jazz club Lyrics. Bishop is the owner of Lyrics and it's his soul deep down. When he meets Korrie for the first time you can feel it through the book they both are hit with instant chemistry and lust. These two are trying to fight their attraction, but at the same time not. This is a short story about love, lust, trust, and finding that one person whom you didn't realize was your soulmate.

This was like a boss/employee romance and I love those, but it was also more than just that! Both characters were wrote well and the storyline was great and kept you reading! I liked how they met and you could feel their chemistry in every word you read. The story was paced well and there was a slow build up and the heat exploded on the pages! This story and its previous one are worth reading, and then re reading!

This was a really sweet book. Korrie and Bishop were great together. I loved the connection and the chemistry between these two. These two are drawn together as soon as they see each other but Korrie tries to fight her feelings because Bishop is her boss. Bishop is completely swoon-worthy in this book; he is willing to go Korrie's pace in their relationship but he won't let her go through life without him. I thought that this was an awesome book and I would recommend it and Ms. Jenika as an awesome author.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Bishop and Korrie’s story. Bishop is the owner of a jazz bad “Lyrics” and Korrie is hired as the new bartender. The sparks fly between these two as they dance around each other, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. This is a well written flawless story which has engaging and relatable characters, and is a fast paced, instant love romance, which is sweet, entertaining, and steamy. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

And Then There Was Us (And Then There Was, 2) by Jenika Snow. This story captivated me from the very beginning, and I was hooked all the way until the end. The authors’ writing style is so passionate; you feel the characters as you read the story. Great contemporary romance with mild drama, plenty of heat, emotional pull and attraction between main characters that sucks you in. I would recommend to others. Hotness overload!

Talk about HOTNESS overload! For being a quick read, Bishop and Kerri’s story hits all the spot with emotions galore that made it a wonderful read. Their chemistry sizzles from the first meeting and only explodes as emotions come alive. I loved the development of their intense heat level to make a HEA that sings to your soul. I need more of this series that doesn’t disappoint and leaves a lasting impression!

Deliciously delightful was what this incredible read was. Steamy sweetness flows across the pages as Korrie and Bishop's story unfolds. This duo's attraction is elemental and their chemistry electric! The sparks and sizzle really do fly and the emotions are deep and intense. I thought both characters were exceptionally easy to love. Korrie was smart, strong and spunky. I so admired what she was trying to do for her Dad and I could truly relate to it. As for Bishop he somehow managed to the perfect blend of swoon worthy, good guy and have your temperature on the rise temptation. I adored it! I am posting a unsolicited, unbiased review.
