Quarantine #2

Isolation

Rate this book
This is Book 2 of a three-part SERIES and NOT a standalone.

Milo:
“There is nothing worse in this life than being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back. This is what I am when I am around her. Her hero when she accepts me. Her biggest nightmare when she rejects me. I have come to that conclusion. I can’t fight it. I can’t explain it to her because I could never explain it to myself either.”

Raven:
“The truth is, I have always been slow to react. I don’t lash out because I need time to analyze things at my own speed. People perceive that as me being logical and mature; wise beyond my age. I am not. I am indecisive and emotional. I just don’t show it. I have flaws. Lots of them. Like every human being, I am allowed to have them. I don’t want to cover them up as anything else.”

WARNINGS: This is a DARK romance, that contains triggers such as dubious consent, non-consent, virus outbreak, mental health issues, and suicide. Some readers might find offensive. This is only a work of fiction intended for a mature, 18+ audience only. The author does not condone the behavior depicted.

'I am her hero when she accepts me. I am her worst nightmare when she rejects me. I have stopped trying to explain that to her a long time ago.'

This book picks up from where the prologue left that's four years after the past. Milo's past and present versions are different. Raven is his trigger to turn into a psychopath (girls, I absolutely love the psycho side of him!). We understand and absorb Milo's crazy side in this book.

'He did me wrong. By textbook definition, by societal definition, and by the standards of the law, Milo is the villain. He belongs behind bars. He did unforgivable things. He can’t possibly be pinning me as the villain. I look away from him to deflect the contradictory image.'

When Raven texts Milo's brother rebelling his "orders" to not talk to his brother he takes her phone and throws it out the window and then fucks her in the bathroom. In a way Milo's possessiveness grew on me but sometimes his caveman antics makes me want to yell a frustated scream. Milo and Raven finally have a 'talk' after which they try to work their 'relationship' but again in the end Milo manipulates and turns the table towards him.

It's so hot reading about an obsessive hero in the book but if there is one in real life I would have panic attack! I have read a lot of obsessive heroes but this one felt different because both the hero and heroine are normal people with normal shits not mafia or any criminal. For a beginner this author gave an awesome start. I love how she rotated the quarantine period with a dark story especially a dark friends-to-lovers romance This series is worth a read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Crazy that Milo actually managed to con this girl into a a somewhat functioning, bordering on healthy relationship after all 👏🏽 that 👏🏽

description

What a freakin coup. It's cute that they're all happy in this relationship like she had any other choice and he didn't cut off every possible avenue out of it 💀 It's wild how subgenres really matter in romance. I don't know if I'd blink an eye at this behavior in a mafia romance, but since they're just two regular people I'm like damn this is pretty toxic....

description

ie. Milo being so horny he has to have sex with Raven even though she's unconscious, busted up w bruises and a concussion because she just fell down a flight of stairs

Her body is an addiction. Loving her is an addiction. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of room to be a good person.

every time Milo says his obsession with her has increased I'm like bro hOWWWWWW. but this man stays surprising me until finally I just realized when it comes to the bounds of his obsession—

description

“We are past all the labels—soulless, monster, sociopath. Yawn.”

Was Milo way hotter in this book or was it just me? I didn't like his character in the last book because I couldn't get a grasp on him, I couldn't merge both sides of him into one cohesive character so I didn't really understand him or his motivations. But in this book? He leaned into the cold, unfazed sociopath vibe and it was doing wonders for him.

description

At the same though, if I was Raven and someone kept insisting they knew my desires and feelings better than me, all I would be having is murder fantasies. He'd wake up to me standing over his sleeping form with a knife in my hand, bc that shit would drive me insane. All our conversations would just be me going

Whenever she'd start talking about how she doesn't want him to feel guilt or be a burden on him for demons that he inflicted on her I'd just be yelling

Knock that man to his knees, I want his blood spilled across the floor as he grovels. I was just not having it with those types of thoughts. I loved prologue Raven, her telling him to read the 'fucking' fine print was sending me. And her unleashing at the end was everything

He has even cost me my fucking sanity, and he doesn’t even know it.

I'm pretty pleased with the ending. I'm glad Mia did what she did cause I'm ready to air this mf'er OUT

2.5 stars 💫

im giving this a lower rating than book 1 even though I technically liked it more BECAUSE THIS WAS A WASTE OF MY FUCKING TIME

IM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW.

spoilers below

the whole damn book was raven and milo meeting after she left him at the end of book 1. it’s years later and milo (ofc) rapes her in the beginning of the book bc he’s an idiot that can’t express his feelings with WORDS.

for example, when milo’s family (including his brother, reid, who’s been in love with raven since they were kids) catch raven and milo post-sex, raven falls down the stairs. which, this was hilarious. girl is naked except for a bed sheet and starts chasing after reid and trips BAHAHAH

well, while concussed, bruised up, with an injured leg and high on pain meds, milo rapes her 😭

“Milo, no. We can’t,” I groan.
“We can,” he moans. “You want me. All I did was kiss you, and you reached for me.”

whatever the non-con is the only reason i care about this story. but after, milo changes. he doesn’t force himself on raven and he starts communicating with her. raven begins acknowledging her feelings for milo and it’s kinda beautiful to see it grow.

until…MIA’S ANNOYING BITCH ASS GETS IN THE FUCKING WAY. milo’s little sister is like that itch that doesn’t go away. no matter how much you scratch it, it comes back like the little annoying shit it is

well, mia overhears raven and milo talking about milo raping her. mia confronts raven about what she heard. raven tries to tell her to forget it and she misunderstood. really, raven thought mia would have two braincells, but alas...she does not!

MIA TELLS REID, WHO IN TURN, CALLS RAVEN AND TELLS HER SOMETHING THAT LEADS TO HER LEAVING MILO WITH THIS NOTE—

You lied.

WHY COULDNT MIA MIND HER OWN BUSINESS. this book was 2 steps forward and one million steps back. like what was the point of all this if raven just leaves at the end…AGAIN

what does raven think she’s accomplishing by leaving milo, i don’t understand. i just know this whole "you lied" shit is going to be some sort of miscommunication and/or reid lying about some shit milo didn't do. i mean, reid has hated milo for "taking" raven from him...she doesn't think he'd lie to get what he wants???

SHE LITERALLY TOLD MILO SHE LOVED HIM THAT SAME NIGHT 🤡 all the sudden what?? he can’t be forgiven for “lying”?? HE LITERALLY RAPED YOU AND YOU STILL LOVE HIM

honorable mentions:

➵this bulimia joke = not necessary and gross

“I’ll start my diet tomorrow. It’s called the two-finger diet,” I fake gag with two fingers in my mouth. “Double the taste, zero the calories.”

➵pet names like: baby, angel, sweetheart? EW. being called someone’s personal Xanax is sooo hot. would have been even hotter if he called her his alprazolam 🤪🤪😒😒

➵don’t like that the girl you’re in love with is messaging your brother? toss her phone out the window

Milo walks over to the window with my phone in hand, opens the window so I feel the chill of winter and nonchalantly throws my phone out of it.

what about her former lovers in France? nah just fly there and put them into the hospital 😍

I went to Paris multiple times over the years to beat up the men she had slept with.

whatever, i'm annoyed af. the writing seemed better but the lack of contractions is still irking me. also, COVID was mentioned twice in the first chapter and never again...wasn't this supposed to be a covid story?

Isolation is written in Raven and Milos POV in the present, and oh man, what a story. I swore I wouldn't read anything COVID related until I picked up book one. Such a good lie, I told myself.

Milo is still a freaking crazy ass, and his obsession with Raven has not let up. On the one hand, Milo needs Psychiatric help, and on the other hand, I was secretly rooting for Raven to forgive him for his horrific acts and fall back in love with him.

Let’s not forget Reid. There is a bonus book in his POV that is written in the past up until the ending of Book one. So much he knew and didn’t come forward. I was shocked, to be honest.

What a cliffhanger at the end. Now I have to sit here and patiently wait for book three—kudos to catch my attention to her series.

The ending of this book is giving me indigestion.
Jesus.
Mia what have you done!?

I wanted Raven to find herself and fight for herself. I’m so proud of her journey.
Reading this was hard. Milo did an unforgiving act and watching him help her heal was healing itself. So ready to dive into the second book!

spoilers. This started out great, but by 40% I wanted to dnf it. In book 2, our bat shit crazy hero acts like a gentleman, our h is dealing with the trauma of all the dub/non-con sex from book 1. I missed their intensity honestly, so I was mostly bored reading this book. I would rate book 2, 2 Stars, but this authors writing is too good, thus I'm giving it a 3 stars. Book 2, came with a free book, book 1.5, written in Reid’s PoV. I would highly suggest you not reading that until you finish the trilogy if you’re not into love triangles. I loved the bonus book, I found it enlightening but also heartbreaking to read the angst from Reid’s POV, cuz we know what will happen.

Milo (25) is now a wealthy CEO, and he's taking care of everyone (as usual).
The leeches - his family (mom, dad, sis, bro) and Raven, and her fucking mom and dad - all live in his house and he's taking care of all of their bills.

This poor guy can't get a break. He's spent his entire childhood taking care of his depressed mom, younger sibs, and Raven, and now he's taking care of the adults too. SO it's no wonder that he has no time to sleep, works all the time, and is unhappy. When Raven moves in too (because Milo is everyone's welfare check), he tries to woo her back by acting like a boring PC-Romance Hero (so no more Crazy Obsessed caveman- we only see the lunatic in his inner dialog), and this dating process is slow (no sex) because she's dealing with a few rape victim symthoms - shakes when he's near, self-harms and she beats the crap out of him - even drawing his blood (in book 3, I suppose we can expect to see the trauma of this domestic abuse?).

All of which just made the story fucking drag mostly. The book had no plot, the plot was of her dealing with the trauma, thats it! I get that this is realistic- what a real rape victim goes through, but I dont want to spend an entire book on this issue. It's boring.

And about Reid - why I read book 2 in the first place, he's not even in this book! SIGH.

At the end of book 2, on Amazon Unlimted, there was a free, short book called - Desolate, which is part 1.5 for this series, and it had Reid's PoV. That book was worth 5 stars, ended up being better than book 2, and cleared up a lot of questions I had.)

I doubt I will read book 3. I loved book 1 because Milo is bat shit crazy obsessed caveman, and the author killed that character. At the end of book 2 here, Milo is a different man. He's thinking about letting the h go because he loves her too much... lol in Book 1, Milo would NEVER consider that, he wouldve dragged her ass (even with her trauma) to his closet and locked her away forever. THIS craziness is what made book 1 fun to read.

no cheating or OW
They separated for 4 years when the book 1 started. During that time, the H was celibate , while the heroine had a string of lovers.
I loved that the heroine didn’t love the hero in the beginning while he did.
Loved that the h had lovers for once, and the hero remained faithful! Huge kudos to the author for thinking outside the box!

What a whirlwind. This takes you through the emotional aftermath of book 1 in an ultra forced proximity setting.

The drama🔥…. sheesh!
(it’s good, fun drama for the plot)

-H is legal guardian, 23 yrs old, bff older brother
-h 17, looks to pls authority figures, vulnerable

* H dominates h in emotional & physical relationship
* h shortly thereafter turns 18
* dubcon/noncon ensues when h pulls back saying she doesn’t want to be w/ him

———•THOUGHTS•———
Ok in all honestly, I ate up book 1 and leaned heavily on the fact that it’s not real (i.e., letting my morals suspend for a few themes in this).

This book is heavy on the emotional development & healing of MCs (who r also kinda toxic). As u can expect, there’s many-a-conversations between MCs about their thought processes in book 1. Specifically, h explaining the depth of trauma she experienced & H explaining his pov at the time.

Again, should be an easy 5 stars, and lacks the usual dubcon from book 1 (kinda! well…mostly).
I enjoyed it thoroughly but had a few issues:

1. story lulled in middle @ 50-60%
2. h had poor emotional development by end of story (unless this is just prepping for book 3)

-h thought she was a burden to H bc she
had physical trauma responses from what
he did to her
-all the sudden, h defending his actions that
from book 1 in which she spent 1/2 this book
trying to explain to him (& experiencing
trauma responses)

”I know he hates himself for hurting me.
He never fully viewed what happened between us as wrong, but none of that matters now. The only thing to matter is an outcome that’ll allow us to move forward with our relationship.”

3. some of the conversations MCs had ab past.

-H didn’t get the wrongness of his actions
(just that he affected h)
-MCs fr had max toxicity levels
-MCs never felt on equal footing when they
discussed past

🖤Looking forward to book 3! Curious to see how this plays out & hoping for a huge emotional maturity jump. And to clarify, H did change in this book but not enough for me.

Obsessive hero at its finest

At least we know one thing: Milo would never cheat on Raven 👏🏻 unlike so many “heroes” out there in “romancelandia” 😑

This starts off in the past, during the four years that Milo and Raven are separated- and the different ways Milo tries to communicate with her 😅. In those four years, Raven tries to move on in life. She went to Paris to get away from the toxicity being around Milo brought on. Plus, she needed to be on her own to see if she could move on.

And then the quarantine happened 😅…

And Milo finally has Raven back in his house 👀…

And he’s gonna take advantage of that 😉

Little does he know, Raven’s struggling through some mental health issues 😬, and they’re gonna have to navigate their way around them.

What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—how O B S E S S E D Milo is 😮‍💨. Get me an OTT JP OBSESSED Hero any day and you’ll find me a happy woman 👏🏻. No other woman will do for him. Raven is IT 👏🏻 and NO ONE’s gonna take her away from him 😅

—Milo was celibate 👏🏻 while Raven was not 😬. This is RARE to find in books and I’m always on the hunt for this!!! The reasoning, for this makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️. Milo was a hoooooar before Raven, so when he’s finally intimate with her, it feels different, it feels meaningful, it feels like the best thing he’s ever experienced and nothing will ever compare to it. So during the separation, he doesn’t need to try to find meaningless sex 🤷🏻‍♀️. He knows what that’s like, so he’s good 👏🏻. On the other hand, Raven has only ever experienced Milo. When she’s in Paris, she tries to see if there’s anything that could ever compare, hence her being with others. Of course, no one compares, and that’s when she stops. By the time she goes back home, she’s been celibate for years

—the tension 😮‍💨. These two can’t help but want each other, even if they’re trying not to 😉

—the 🔥. Oh LAWD 🥵. I love how Milo gives no Fs and doesn’t care what people think. Their first 🔥 scene takes place in the present when Raven comes back to town. After he realizes she has mental health issues, he tones it down, but it’s still 😮‍💨. Raven still can’t help but want it 😅

—the non con/dub con 👀. Milo doesn’t know the word no 😬 but he does it in such a sweet way 🫣 because he knows Raven’s body so well, so 😮‍💨 💦

—sommophilia 👀. Just because she’s asleep doesn’t mean things can’t happen 🥵

—the caretaker in Milo 🫶. He’s so protective , not only of Raven but his whole family ❤️

—the mental health aspect 🫶. This is tough but realistic ☹️. Even though Milo was the cause of a lot of it, he wants to fix it

—the OMD 😈. I luuuuurve it in my books 💅 and in this case, it’s Milo’s brother 😅

—Reid’s book ❤️. Not me feeling bad for the OM 😬. Sigh. And then he goes and messes up by being a bigger hooooar than Milo 😑 lol

—how supportive Milo is with Raven ❤️. Not only when it comes to her business but in general 🫶

—how unique their relationship is 😅. As in, he’s only ever done what he’s done to Raven to her 😬

What I didn’t like/wanted more of:
—this felt short ☹️ so I wanted it to be longer

—for Mia to butt out 🤣. Mia. Mind ya business 🤣 leave Milo and Raven alone 💀 don’t be telling on them 🤣

—for Raven to stop running 🤦🏻‍♀️. Girl. Stop with the miscommunication 😑 lol

—the mild owd that’s not really owd but maybe is for some people 😅. Alexa works with Milo and was intimate with him a long time ago, but they’re clearly nothing. Milo’s too obsessed with Raven to ever look at anyone. Raven does get mildly jealous knowing she works with him, but Alexa isn’t a bad person and isn’t trying to get with Milo… but I love how Milo’s ready to fire her for Raven lol

Overall, I loved this 😈

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd (in my eyes)
-n0ncon/dubcon
-mental health/anxiety/PTSD
-self-harm
-somnophilia
-OM- the H beats up a friend of the h’s. But he’s nice since he takes him to the hospital 😅. OM2 flirts with h and H gets pissed. OM3 (H’s brother) wants the h. The H gets extremely jealous of this. We find out in the bonus novella that OM3 has kissed the h twice
-OW- the h gets jealous that the H works closely with this ow, who he’s slept with before years ago
-separation- there’s a 4 year separation from book 1. The H has remained celibate while the h has explored sex with others. (I am SHOCKED! How often does this happen in books?👀)

Wow! This book by the end just broke my heart!

I desperately, desperately want their to be that parallel future Milo and Raven spoke about!

I’m still left not sure if that can happen for them!

Their messed up childhoods and parentless pasts have stemmed so much of their issues, I am in no way condoning what Milo did, but I love how this author explains their thoughts, feelings and rationalisations.

I 100% get why people may find this couple toxic and that she is better off with Reid, but I don’t feel that way, they are like ‘twins’ not life partners.

If Milo and Raven don’t get the right help they need I really don’t see how the third book can bring them together.

The first book my mind was f*ked, this book my heart broke, and I think the next book my heart will shatter, even if there are HEAs, for me if Milo and Raven can’t find their future together, any other ending will be bitter sweet!

A downgrade from the first one.

I don't want Milo reformed, or at least not so fast and sudden...

And for a hero who claims the heroine is his "addiction," he sure seemed fine living life without her for a whole 4 years...

Also, I felt like a lot of the plot points came out of nowhere; there was no leading up to Raven's mental and anxiety issues, and Reed seemed to have been taken out of the story abruptly because the author needed him to be...

The chemistry was also lacking between our two main a little compared to the first book.

I will still pick up the third book, but I'm definitely not in a hurry...

This story picks up where Quarantine left off. Milo and Raven are back in the same house with the rest of the family . This made for some interesting reading . We find out more about all of the family members and Milo seems to be a different man . This story tore my heart out and ended on a cliffhanger. I can not wait to read the next book . This writer is not afraid to let the reader feel what the characters are feeling . There is a ton of angst and it’s paced perfectly . I couldn’t put it down and I am ready to beg the author for the next part of this story !

HOLY FRICKING MOLY.
So - It did end a bit abruptly and there was about 20% left of the book

This story... phew....
Milo is an EXTREME alpha with SEVERE possessive tendencies.
He makes extreme alphas look mild in contrast. For real.
He won't live without her.

NOT.
Gonna.
Happen.

And being in his head, we know why. We understand. We empathize.
This story is quite a mind-fuck, really, and the dual POV makes it easy to understand both of them.

Oone has an epiphany or overcomes a mental hurdle but then the other one is losing it so you go from up to down to up again and in amongst all that is emotion, and lust, and panty-melting sex scenes and ANGST up the WAZOO!
But that said - it's believable.

You go up and down with both Raven and Milo and as soon as one has their shit together, the other one comes apart at the seams. It's like... GODDDDDD, you two! Please figure this out! I just wanna put them in a remote cabin together and take away EVERYTHING else so they can spend a winter figuring out all their shit.

And it's all their parents' fucking fault. Gahhhh, not only do I want Milo and Raven in a cabin alone to figure it out, while they're gone, leave the four parents in a pit together in the basement and deprive them for a few days of comforts while you make them read these books so they can see what they fucking did.
LOL.
Near the end of this story... finally .... Milo and Raven seem like they -for a beat - sync up with their sanity and the result is NOT good news. Because they both know it's just about impossible.
The bleakness is palpable.
As two momentarily sane people who see the writing on the wall and all the potential fall-out for themselves and their family... how can they possibly be together?
He has completely obliterated her life. And she is his lifeline. He deserves happiness. His descent into that obsession was absolutely natural and he remained a character you want to see get rewarded for his good deeds because they do outnumber the bad.
Fuck - I am rooting for them to find a way.
Can you tell by this long babbling monologue? LOL
The things these two have been through!
At the end of book 1 I was Team Milo. In the beginning of this book, I wasn't sure if there was any saving Milo. He had just totally and utterly snapped. He was cracked.
But then we saw him find his way back to some semblance of sanity. He has self-loathing and remorse and still.... he is not gonna give up on her.
At the end of this book, I have no freaking clue what'll happen.
I just know I can't read that alternate POV book because there's no way my heart can possibly take a third person's pain on.

LOL.
Drethi - When is book 3 coming?
Is is time yet?

4.5 stars. This book was a huge emotional roller coaster for me. I went from hating Milo to sympathizing with him back to hating him and then finally being heartbroken for him. I honestly don't have much to say because I'm still reeling with everything that happened in this book. When I reread it, which I eventually will, I'll leave a better review.

Absolute MINDFUCK!!!!!

There is love, heartbreak, lust, obsession, betrayal, the forbidden aspect with ANGST! SO TOXIC FOR EACHOTHER yet they can't STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. I thought Milo would calm his crazy ass down but nope he was more unhinged and crazy in the first half of this book. He was such an intense hero or may I say anti-hero? Obsessive hero at its finest! I’m crying! I’m screaming! I’m shaking!

Milo just does it for me because he is OTT jealous and possessive. Raven is Milo's. He is totally obsessed with her. He eats, breathes and sleeps Raven. He wants to consume her, spending all of his time with her. He needed her to feel alive, for his life to be worth living. When they were separated he felt dead inside and was just going through the motions.

‼️ PLEASE PLEASE CHECK THE FUCKING TRIGGERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DO NOT CRY LATER [no cheating, no OW drama (very very mild), hero is celibate during separation]‼️

Okay so i’m still recovering from all that I just read....I didn’t think this book was going to take the turn that it did. Emotionally that is. I really shouldn’t have read this on my period but this was fucking amazing like truly. At the beginning I was so impatient to know how this book was going to end like I wanted to know so so badly. So before it got into the really good stuff I sorta had to restrain myself that i didn’t just read spoilers or do something stupid like that. This will leave you heartbroken but I think it’s books like this that really stay with you which is a confirmation that it really was as good as you thought. I’m not going to spoil anything because I think the book is best read going in blind or half blind in my case but this is definitely worth a read or two or five.

Why lord?!

Why! I need the third book! I can’t wait I need the third book like Milo needs raven! I’m crying! I’m screaming! I’m shaking! This book is a ride! No this series is a ride and I’m begging for more! Punish me, make me cry more, but for the love of god give me the happy ending I deserve before I break apart and die! I told you I was going to rant and rave in my review! I can’t even. I seriously can’t. I want everyone but Milo and raven to die so they can live happily ever after without any judgement or people to interfere. I hate mia lol I absolutely hate Alexa and am glad she wasn’t a huge character, because I don’t trust that bitch! I hate reid for leaving and tearing raven apart. For his selfishness and ridiculous proposal of trying omg stay in your lane Reid! Raven is not yours I can’t even imagine it. It literally makes me gag! Ok I’m done! Buy this book! Read it! Rate it! Review it! Cry with me! #miloandraven4ever

Mild spoilers ahead.

Okay, this is a review for both this book, and the 1.5 at the end from Reid’s POV.

First of all, I can’t stand when authors have their MFC say sex or f*cking when it’s r*pe. I totally understand the trauma of not being able to say the word r*pe or acknowledge that it happened to you, but to use phrases that make it seem consensual sends a mixed message to the readers.

Raven not telling everyone that Milo is a lying r*pist makes zero since. She isn’t a child anymore. It’s unrealistic that she would continue to be assaulted in a house full of people, make these grand plans in her inner monologue to finally put a stop to it, but then always finding excuses to wait doesn’t make any sense. She had an an entire day before Tessa’s relapse and she spent it drinking and having fun.

The nightmares. Okay.
If Milo can hear her screams and nightmares when his room is farthest away from all of them, why can’t anyone else?!
It just doesn’t line up.

Reid:
His book. Ugh. I was really hoping for something amazing. There is all this talk about them being soulmates, attached with unhealthy codependency, being able to read each other’s minds and moods, but yet he never seemed to pick up on her distress? Her moods changing? How antisocial she became? Then, he abandoned her. Called her horrible names, ignored her years, and then his book only showed that he was just as psychotically obsessed with her as Milo, then he turned around and abandoned her a second time instead of talking to her. Asking her what happened. What was going on.

I honestly hope she drops both of them. They’re toxic as all get out and there is NOTHING redeeming about Milo at all. He’s just gross.

I need book 3 NOW!!!

I blew through the first two books and now having to wait for the third and final book is going to kill me! I need Raven and Milos happily ever after if I’m ever going to achieve my own!

I’m also having a hard time reconciling Ravens reactions to everything. After being inside Milos head I can’t seem to hate him or even want him to suffer. I want them to get over their shit and be happy and I want to read hundreds of pages experiencing their joy!!! Am I being unreasonable?

And lastly, I don’t understand the ending. Raven left because she found out Milo lied about setting them up to be discovered by their families? Or because Reid is on his way to hurt Milo? If so, why did she leave that note? He lied about what? I’m so confused. I’m still confused by which parents belong to which kid. Their names are too similar and I feel like all the dads are only referenced as uncle. And I’m easily confused - all the dates jumping around in the first book had me reeling and frustrated with my kindle.
Regardless I love this series. There’s something addicting to how hard Milo loves Raven. And I like her tough and reasonable mind set. Hopefully she’ll get even stronger. Damsels in distress are the worst buzzkill...

I am done with this series. This book was more boring than the first with much more spelling errors and I've never heard or read the phrase as being "dead drop gorgeous."

Spoilers as always so don't come whining to me if you choose to read them.

The whole book is basically Raven trying to form a relationship with Milo on her own terms and by the end of the book they are talking about marriage and babies. But apparently Mia has to start something yet again and Reid, who has been absent the entire book after seeing Milo and Raven together, either knows what milo did or was fed some lies, I don't know because I skimmed that part, but he's coming back and there's going to be so old school brawl I assume.

But this book wasn't dark. Stockholm syndrome maybe but not dark. I don't know where the isolation part comes in. I guess Reid was since he was nowhere to be seen.

This book feels like a psychology minor walked into a bar...

And wrote a book.
Not a realistic, descriptive, or plausible one.
But a book that's ridiculous, oddly detached, and darn near impossible to finish without lots and lots of skimming.
I was very very generous with my first review of this series- but I regret it immensely.
Everything about this and it's predecessor is awful.
The plot, the characters, their inner monologue, their dialogue, the vague descriptions of what's actually taking place (a mother has a "bad side effect of her medication" and then the story suddenly skips ahead) and everything in between.
No bueno.

OMGosh What now?

Milo or Reid? I don't know how this is going to get to HEA. Milo too forceful Reid too slow? (I would have tried both.) Love the series. Great read, author and story. Definitely a rollercoaster ride but I need to know how this ends. Guess when forced to choose, I wouldn't pick either, coz that's what I did, not wanting to hurt either man but hurt myself. Still don't know if I did the right thing? Please give us a HEA! Loved the series, recommend them. Great read. Can't wait. v

I'm obsessed with Drethi. Milo is amazing in everyway but has such a flaw in seeing what he's done. Its intoxicating.

I struggled to keep reading for a while due to personal circumstances but I was so angry at myself for taking a break because when I picked it back up I was right back there with Raven. Feeling every emotion and just so involved in the relationship.

Basically what I'm saying is keep reading as it just gets better and better.

I loved the bonus material at the end. I always loved Reid but yanno... Milo. I am really routing for Reid to get his own happy ending 🖤.

1000% recommend. Just pay attention to the trigger warnings. Book 3 already pre-ordered for March (does happy dance)

4 stars

Parts of this story I loved, other parts, like the transitions or immaturity level, frustrated the hell out of me. I'm starting to get some insight into the character's heads and the added novella at the end of the book from another character's point of view added another layer to the story. I don't think everything is as black and white as this book is trying to make me believe. I look forward to finding out in the conclusion.

WOW.

This book should be used in a group discussion in a book club. There is so much to say but I’m just gonna say that right now I really hate Mia. I really do. I’m just starting to enjoy the change of pace. Reid is MIA, the parents still suck and the ‘relationship’ is still crazy. I think therapy would be good for the entire family. With this cliffhanger, I know Milo is gonna flip out in book 3. Can’t wait.

Thank you for breaking my heart

I’m sure some readers have negative views of this novel for including the triggers that it does. But I just want to say that this author has handled the triggers SO well. They weren’t there for shock value. They weren’t glazed over. The characters weren’t “strong” to the point of unaffected by them. It was so real, so beautifully complicated, and so well done. Another round of applause for this one.
