Goodbyes we don’t expect

Rate this book
"If you're reading this, you are still breathing: there is a reason for that."

In this book of poetry, anonymous Author 'Faraway' takes the reader on a journey through the pain of goodbyes, how relationships breathe their final breaths, and the fallout that comes when love comes to an end.
‘Goodbyes We Don't Expect' is a book of poems on loss and feeling lost afterwards - searching for happiness, meaning, and peace in our lives. It's about going through the pain. It's about suffering for a while and understanding that suffering is necessary. It's about healing, overcoming, and coming to terms with our pain. And by the end of it, the reader will come to see that there is a reason for us to be here, even after some of the greatest losses and hardest times of our lives.

Goodbyes We Don't Expect' is for anyone going through heartache, anyone in need of inspiration and healing, or anyone who has a love for modern poetry.

You speak my heart!
l really love this book because it so honest and deep..the reality in the state of heartbreak in it..the conflict between the longing ..the pain..the loneliness..the heart ..the hope..the feeling of losing yourself and the will to move on..the suffering of disappointment ..the state of confusion about what is right ..what had happen ..and did it really matter and the need for a closure and moving on..i felt it ..
here is some of the the words that i really love:

"What hurts the most about
feeling this way about you is,
I never thought I’d ever have
to feel this way about you.
- I never saw it coming"

"I miss falling asleep
knowing I belonged
somewhere.
- somewhere was with you"

"What messes me up the most is
how you left when we still had
so many reasons to stay."

"I can’t put into words
just how it feels when the
person you love tells you
you’ll find someone
who loves you.
- some kind of sinking"

"In late nights, I
torture myself with
these questions I
know will never
have answers.
- like why you left"

"You end some things the
same way you began them:
all by yourself."

"I’ve seen dreams so big
slip through the smallest
cracks between my fingers.
I’ve seen love die quietly
on a Tuesday night at 8pm,
and the world didn’t even
stop to say it’s sorry.
You end some things the
same way you began them:
all by yourself. "

"It’s at times like this where
I stop and think, “if I don’t deal
with the pain now, someday, it’ll
come back to haunt me.” And so
I bury myself in it - rage war against
running away and choose to stay,
choosing to feel it all.
- blood in the bathwater"

"leaving what needs to be left"

"Somewhere along the way,
I decided that losing you wouldn’t
be the end of me, and that was the
single most important decision
I’d ever made in my life."

"Pay close attention,
because more than anything,
what will tell you the most about
someone is the way they make
you feel when you’re wrong
about something."

"What I’ve learned from us is,
if you be yourself from the first hello,
you’ll never have to wonder if you’re
loved for who you truly are."

"Happiness is when
dreaming about other lives
wherein things worked out
differently is no longer
something you do.
- happier here"

"Looking back,
I don’t think it was love:
I was just obsessed with
solving problems, and
you had a lot of them.
- soul custodian"

"Remember this: even
if the world around you
is hopeless, that doesn’t
mean you have to feel
hopeless, too."

I think my enjoyment of this poetry collection was hindered by the fact that I am not currently going through a break up? The poems are quite bleak during the first half, which I think fits right in if you're suffering from a broken heart, and then there's room for a little hope for the future towards the end. I liked the short poems the best, but most of the poems felt a little to similar to hold my attention all the way through.

I actually really liked this book the most out of all the works I've read so far by this author. It's just... the typos got to me. Also a poem was repeated. Sigh.

What I love most about the author is that their work is available on their website on a sliding scale price... so check that out if you want to ♡

The quotes were really something else. I was going through a harsh break up and the quotes in this book really made it easier for me to move on; this book basically got me through a break up. The quotes opened my eyes and changed my perspective on my heartbreak.
