Absolutely superb. I thought Surrender the Wind was brilliant but this goes one step further. A love story full of intrigue, with twists and turns. Two spies who would not surrender to the other, no quarter asked and none given. I loved this couple. Again, Elizabeth St Michel, has filled the novel with research and such detail that you were caught up in the action. A well deserved 5 star, would have given it more if I could. A well deserved winner of the Rone Award 2020, Now waiting for the 3rd book in the series.

Surrender to Honor (Surrender Series Book 2)

It seems I've waited forever for this book and I ended up reading it too fast. It always happens with any book written by Elizabeth St. Michel. Each page is beautifully written with a hero and heroine worthy of being in this book. They drew me into their world, through the twists and turns, the romance and the suspense, until they reached their hard earned HEA, leaving me happy and content. Looking forward to book 3. JudyE

Never Underestimate a Woman With A Cause

Well, this story will truly charm you! A very strong willed lady of the South involved up to her ears in the intrigue of spying during the War Between the States. ESM has paired her with an incredible man of strength in character and wisdom all of it needed to deal with the good and the bad that is, The Saint.

Surrender to Honor

I loved it. I've been unable to concentrate on anything I was supposed to be doing. I was so excited when the book came out I had to read it. It was so worth it. It's tightly plotted and the suspense had me guessing. Amazing

IWonderful story! I didn't want it to end!

Surrender to Honor was a great read! I enjoy series stories. This story complements the first book. So many aspects to the civil war that you don't always think about.

This was, plainly, the worst book I have ever read. It was so sexual, detailed so explicitly, it made me almost throw up numerous times, even when I skimmed through it. This book was such a let down. I’m a major civil war and history nerd, and I was deeply disappointed to the highest degree after reading this. Lucas irritated the ever living crap out of me, especially after he forced Rachel to marry him in the church. Gosh, I didn’t care too much for Rachel as a character, but I honestly felt bad for her in the moment. The worst part—the ending. I just skipped to it because I didn’t want to waste anymore time and energy reading this awful book. I skipped to just after Rachel took a bullet for Lucas, and was being treated in a hospital. Earlier in the story, Rachel had briefly explained to Lucas that her father had connections to very important people. I did not see coming that the person he apparently was friends with and had close connections with WAS FREAKING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess in a way, I should have, because there was so many things in this book that didn’t make sense, or was added just because the author probably wanted to cross off boxes.
I was in so much shock by both the Lincoln and the forced wedding thing that I just started laughing. It wasn’t even funny, I literally just started laughing in pure disbelief of what I had just read. The book ended after that with Rachel and Lucas finding out they were expecting a baby. I had never facepalmed so hard in my life when Rachel asked how it was even possible.
Uh, ma’am, you literally had seggs numerous times in a row!!! I know they did not have much knowledge about sex ed back then but are you fr rn?🤦🏽‍♀️

I hate judging books by their covers, or their pages, but this book was next level bad. I regret spending $20 bucks I paid on it, especially since I ended up just throwing the book away in the end because I didn’t want to look at it on my bookshelf.

I’m glad many enjoyed it, but I was just not one of them. Those were my own personal thoughts. If you’re teen like myself when I read this, I do not recommend. I honestly advise you not to, for your own sanity. Any young or older adults, if you’re not a fan of explicit materiel, I wouldn’t recommend, but I’ll leave that up to you to decide. My only hope by leaving this review, it’ll help someone who’s looking for a non sugar-coding, entirely honest review about what this book truly entailed. I wish when I found this book, and searched every single review to see if it was good, story, writing and appropriate-wise, there had been ANY sort of trigger warning or ANY reviews that talked about the negative parts about this book. And since there isn’t, as far as I know by now (I did read this book about three-ish years ago, and haven’t checked any recent reviews since), I wrote one myself to hopefully save someone the headache, and to save their eyes and their braincells. Ohh, and I also hope it helped you save your money. You’re welcome.

A woman's place

What a remarkable story. I especially appreciated the long awaited focus on women spies in the the Civil War. The clash between the hero and the heroine was magnificently done. Riveting story line within a memorable series.

The second book in the Surrender series, SURRENDER TO HONOR, starts out with suspense, action, and intrigue right out of the gate. The first pages provide a hook that keeps you reading for hours. It's difficult to put down and, before you know it, you are part of the story. It's a real page-turner. The writer's words are so descriptive and all encompassing; it will give you chills and apprehension along with the main characters.

Rachael Pierce is a very intelligent and strong-willed woman of her time during the Civil War. She meets up with Lucas O'Rourke and a battle of wits and wills ensue. She has met her match for sure. He's not easily fooled and they are like "fire and dynamite."

Their travels take them through parts of the South which is fraught with friendly and unfriendly territories. Action between them is exciting and spurs you on to see how they handle the next battle of wills and adventures on to their destination. The war rages on and skirmishes are around every corner. You think you may have things figured out, but don't count on it! You will be kept guessing until the end.

Without giving anything away, things are tied up in a "saintly" way. I feel this is one of Elizabeth St. Michel's best!

Handsome, heroic, honourable Colonel Lucas Rourke has the responsibility of a huge spy network, but someone has betrayed him, and now if he doesn't talk, he will be killed by a cruel and vindictive sadist.
Almost at death's door, he is rescued by an auburn haired beauty, Rachel Pierce. Rachel plays the innocent Southern belle, but really she is extremely cunning, intelligent and inventive.
These two clash from start to finish, but they are drawn to each other and as plots abound and murder ensues, their passion and love for each othe ignites.
From the very first page to the very last, Elizabeth St. Michel takes you on an adventure of a lifetime. Elizabeth is a master with not only words, but humour, emotion and poignancy. Her descriptive writing brings this era and her book filled with wonderful characters to life.
I absolutely loved it!
