Daddy Bear #5

Letting Go

Rate this book
Immaturity, Jealousy, Envy, Insecurity can Carter and Frank survive them all?

When Carter and Frank met, it was the attraction that pulled them together in a heated desire for one another.

All Carter has ever wanted is the Daddy he craves to love and care for him. But will his immaturity be the downfall of this relationship or can Frank deal with his tears and tantrums?

Frank’s life was complicated, when they met, still confused by his feelings for his Ex and dealing with his mum’s deteriorating health. Carter’s immaturity has always been difficult to handle however now Carter is around full-time.

Following the incident at Carter’s flat, Frank made the rash decision to ask him to move into his house, into his life. But did he think about how that would change things between them?

As life’s complications enter their world, will they learn to share life together?

Will this Daddy & Boy make it from that first heated attraction to a long-term relationship?

This book is part of a series although you do not need to read the entire series. I would recommend reading Daddy Bear 4 before reading this one so you understand the events in this book.

B. J. Smyth writes spicy, emotional MM romance filled with possessive older men, jealous lovers, and the kind of heartache that hurts so good. His stories explore age gaps, and broken boys who just need the right man to put them back together.

He’s obsessed with writing characters who fall hard, fight dirty, and love fiercely — often with a little drama, a lot of spice, and just the right amount of angst. Whether it's a hot daddy, a manipulative ex, or a jealous flatmate causing trouble, B. J. delivers romance that’s raw, real, and impossible to put down.

When he's not writing, he's probably plotting the next book over coffee, binge-watching queer dramas, or getting inspired by TikTok thirst traps.

If you're here for the spice, the feels, and the messy men who fall hard and fast — you’re in the right place.

Ah, this final installment had so much emotional moments. I loved that!

After being attacked Carter will stay with Frank. Brandon isn’t the friend Carter thought he was. So packing his stuff happens on a day Brandon is not there.
Brandon saw his chance to pick at Carter and told him about something Frank did.
Dear dear Carter, insecure as he is, jealousy starts to swirl in his mind.
And it’s even getting worse when Frank his ex is in the picture.
In his fury Carter is ugly and Frank reaches his limits.

I always wonder if they stayed together after all. I wasn’t sure of Frank.
I loved all Carter’s heavy emotions, driving Frank crazy. With all the commotion Frank knows how he really feels.
Their chemistry is good, their sex life great. Carter finally found his Daddy.
Sexy little story, more emotional than the previous ones and I love me some emotions.
Always written with a friendly touch. I loved this series, five short stories all about Carter and is his Daddy Bear Frank. I was happy how it ended!

So we come to the end of this series with ‘Letting Go’ and it’s with a smile on my face that we leave both Frank & Carter, although I’m going to miss them and will constantly ask going forward when will I see them again!
From the start we knew about the sexual chemistry these two characters had...it burned bright but what happens beyond that once the everyday routine takes hold...does it still burn bright or is is dulled by the little nuances that are discovered further on down the line?
This final story had a lot of drama within the pages, it left me hurrying to turn the page just so I could see what would happen next. It was sweet in places, angsty in others and a time or two had me shouting, no pleeeaaasssse don’t- all signs that I look for in a read- it kept me entertained from the first page and left me satisfied by the last. Frank & Carter have a lot to overcome here from their age gap to whether or not they can move past their differences, and not to mention the other characters such as Brandon! Don’t get me started on that one 😱
It’s a well written story, structured well, the flow of the story uninterrupted, and why not over detailed or wordy, left me able to clearly pictures the scenes like a film in my head- which is definitely a very good thing!!!
So if you’ve read the other 4 instalments then grab this quick- if you’ve not read about these guys yet- what are you waiting for?
Thank you B.J. Smyth for sharing Frank and Carter with us- for letting us follow their journey and I’m excited about what’s to come in the future.

I'm sorry to see this series end.

I've really enjoyed this hot and sexy series by B.J. Smyth. Each story is short; just right for reading before bed. 😊

Carter has always been insecure about his relationship with Frank and in this story he nearly lets it destroy his relationship with Frank. Thankfully, Frank understands Carter's insecurities and everything works out in the end.

I've read other "daddy" books but Carter and Frank have been really special to me. I'm so happy for them to finally get their HEA.

This one is in duo POV. This book almost got a 1 star rating but the ending saved it a bit. Before the ending there was not a single character that didn't get to me and I was even thinking break up already. Brandon is an ass. I don't know why Carter would of lived with him for as long as he has. Carter is so incredibly whiney, needy, insecure and jealous. I couldn't take it. Although I don't agree with any of Carters actions it was kind of sneaky what Frank did so he doesn't get a free pass in my mind. All these people are so dysfunctional. I'm glad it worked out but like I said I wasn't really invested in them anymore. I'm glad it's over and I probably wouldn't recommend this series.

Frank and Carter are leaving together, but now is Carter insecurities and doubts that put their relationship in jeopardy. As Frank is coming to terms and closure with Charles his ex so he can have the future that he wants with Carter, Cater start feeling doubts that what put in his head by Brandon knowing that it will eat Carter. This is the last book on the series and it shows how real love conquer all.

Well, this one was a sad one, after 4 episodes of fun and sex. Carter's insecurities cause jealously to rear its ugly head while Frank is trying to deal with his injured ex, and Frank has had enough, he blows his top. It looks like it's all over and so Carter runs away. I liked this series, it's a simple easy read, quite enjoyable.

Oh my god the drama. After six months Carter still becomes increasingly jealous and is still insecure along with Frank's unwillingness to be open to him, mostly not realising he is doing it.

I found myself wanting to smack some sense in to either and have Carter grow up a bit more.

The two made their own drama and didn't need the shock factor from Carter's attack. It would have been better that Frank offered to move in together without the pressing circumstances.

Brandon of course is a proper tool as I knew all along because damn.

I had a few issues with the writing through the series, mainly the use of boy, as in boy looks, boy body. Instead of young or cherubic for example, whenever Carter's appearance was brought up.

It's an entertaining series, and short enough to finish in one sitting.

After being attacked in his own apartment Carter moves in with Frank. While Carter's packing up his belongings Brandon sees his chance to cause trouble between Carter & Frank. Carter's insecurities have a major flare up when he sees Frank with his ex Charles. Without giving him chance to explain Carter leaves. Can Frank see past his immaturity and finally get Carter to let go of his past and see how much he really loves him.
Really great series with plenty of heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sad to see this series finish but it ends with a great closure. Looking forward to Brandon's series.

A very entertaining read as usual for this author. This is a nice end to the story arc (or is it? ha, ha).The story seemingly arrives at a Happily Ever After ending, but not without some rough patches along the way. I have enjoyed everything I have read by this author and you will too. If you are looking for a quick read with a nice story, give this a try.

This book contuines on from book 4 after Carter's attack at the flat with Brandon. Moving in with Frank seemed the next thing to do.  Secrets told, ex-boyfriends troubles and more but have ta read it. A fast moving short story to the series. A great ending.

Great closure to this series. It is sad to see this wrap up but glad to see that the author will be starting a series for Brandon who really needs a happy ending in the future.
