Gone Wild

Rate this book
You might say I ran away, but you'd be wrong.

I put my life on the line in a foreign country to fight America's enemies. You know what happened when I got home? Was there a hero's welcome waiting for me? No. I became an internet joke, a viral meme. So, you go ahead and call it 'running away'. I call it self preservation.

I turned my back on the nonstop internet trolling we call society to live alone in the Alaskan wilderness. I swore I'd never give anyone another chance, let alone someone like her. She lives her life for her followers. She's a woman who would rather record her life than live it. She's exactly what's wrong with this world.

We're stuck here because of a winter squall, but that snow whipping around outside is nothing compared to the storm brewing between us. Just like that snow, our touch burns up our bodies and we can't tell if it's cold or hot. Hate or love. All I know is I can never get enough. All I know is I need more.

I loved this book. I didn’t read the original story so I came into it with fresh eyes and it was amazing. Sawyer and Elsie each had their own problems that they were dealing with it in their own way. They crossed paths when Elsie was running away from her problem and they were stranded in a snowstorm. The longer they were together, they closer they got and the attraction and chemistry between them was so hot. It burned up my Kindle. Loved, loved this story.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sawyer moves to Alaska to get away from the internet bullies he experiences with coming back from Afghanistan. Elise makes her living on social media and loves the limelight but she isn’t happy. The end up being trapped together in a winter squall and soon sparks are flying. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. These opposites attract characters have great chemistry and an entertaining story. I liked it.

4 1/2 stars! Hunky ex-soldier turned mountain man and current social media darling

This is story has a strong storyline and well-defined characters, what made the story for me was the quandary created when the mountain man meets basically one of the queen of social media. For me to give it 5 stars would have required Eddie Cleveland to explore more of this dichotomy.

There are a couple of elements that readers who are sensitive or have a trigger should be aware of, such as adult language, steamy intimate scenes, cheating by the “fiancé”, close call while lost in the woods, etc.

Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:

It is about a former soldier, Sawyer, that has turned his back on modern society after he left the military to prove his love to his girlfriend of a couple years. Sawyer was able to get home a couple of weeks earlier than anticipated and a live morning news crew was with him when he returned home to film him surprising her with a proposal.

Unfortunately the surprise was on him when he finds out that she is 5 months pregnant with twins (and he has been gone for 6 months) and she has a new man. His anger, grief, etc. went viral and there were a lot of disrespectful comments and name calling against him. Sawyer decides to move to Alaska and start over.

Elsie is a social media darling with 57m (give or take) followers. She is known for her bubble butt and is constantly updating her followers on what is going on with her life. Sometimes this requires longer than one would think and multiple shots to get something of interest. For example, if she posts a picture and it doesn’t immediately get so many thousands of instant likes, then she will delete it and take another to post.

Elsie is in Alaska to celebrate her engagement to Ben, a rich poker player, a couple of friends that are body builders, and her best friend and foster sister. They are drinking expensive champagne, she is posting pictures and admiring her 18 carat ring, and having fun in the hot tub. After the couple turns in, her sister leaves to go get more firewood and Ben leaves a few minutes later to help.

Elsie finishes off the champagne, realizes it has been a while since her sister and fiancé left, so she decides to get out of the hot tub and check on them. As she gets closer to where they should be, Elsie hears some noises that remind her of chipmunks. As she rounds the corner, she realizes it is her sister getting it on with her fiancé.

Obviously upset, Elsie goes into the chalet, grabs her boots and fur coat, before running out and taking off through the woods. She runs until she can’t any more and passes out in the woods. Fortunately for her, Sawyer left his cabin so he could journey into town for supplies and stumbles upon her, unresponsive and mostly frozen, but still alive.

I am going to stop here so I don’t accidentally provide a spoiler.

Elsie is a social media darling (for posting pics of her butt). She's having an engagement party and catches her fiance cheating on her with her foster sister. She's drunk, upset, wearing a wet bikini, and runs out into the woods (in the snow). She is found by Sawyer, who lives off the grid after having been humiliated through social media. A snowstorm comes and they are trapped together in a cabin for a few days.

It's a very quick read, and not much meat to it. No real angst, no getting in the feels really. It's fairly simple, insta-love (seriously, I have no idea how they fell in love). They had sex more than they talked.

If you are looking for a quick and simple read for some entertainment, this might be it. If you're looking for something to hit you in the feels, this isn't it.

I liked Saved By the Woodsman, but this updated version is so much better. In Gone Wild, Sawyer's story better developed and meshes well with Elsie's.
Even though there's new content, it's still an amazing EC read. The love is still there, the heat, the pain, the healing. It's your signature Eddie Cleveland book, it just got a nice facelift. One I'm not mad at, at all.

Finding a beautiful woman freezing to death in the middle of a snowstorm is far from an ordinary occurrence for the reclusive Sawyer. After facing humiliation and the negative attention of a social media tornado, he has withdrawn from the wider world to live a simple life alone in the Alaskan wilderness. He's been living by himself for years, rarely seeing or speaking to other people.

Trapped with the beautiful young social media star in a cabin during a blizzard, he is forced to relive the pain in his past while at the same time feeling a growing attraction to the wildly attractive and interesting little starlet.

Each will have to bend a bit and let go of their prejudices if they hope to at least be on civil terms during their enforced seclusion. As they both begin to look beyond first impressions, each sees wonderful qualities in the other. Will they each find a balm to soothe their individual heartbreaks?

I loved Sawyer's strength, competence and self-possession. Having dealt with heartache and the pain of a very public scandal, he is a bit gruff and unapproachable at times, but is a good man at heart. Despite her outwardly shallow lifestyle, there is so much more to our little social media darling than just her cute butt and willingness to document her daily life for her followers. I just would have liked Ashley to be a bit more realistic in her view of the world. It seems as though her fiancée and friends are truly shallow users and she is either too naïve or is just plain unwilling to see it. Regardless, meeting Sawyer makes her a better person and forces her to take a hard look at her life.

The chemistry between these characters is intense and woven throughout the story are the very relevant themes of the importance of social media in daily life as well as mistreatment of individuals at the hands of internet trolls.

Four stars for this military romance.

This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Elsie Young and Sawyer Clifton. Sawyer was on his last tour in Afghanistan when he just got this bad feeling. Though he comes through the mission just find he comes home to find that his girl has hooked up and gotten pregnant by another man. His problem was he was having his homecoming proposal televised on the morning new station. He became an instant internet laughing stock and he couldn't take it so he packs up all his stuff and heads for Alaska. Elsie is in Alaska at a resort celebrating her engagement when she finds her foster sister and fiance screwing behind the wood shed. She does the only thing she can think of in her drunken stupor run out into the snowy woods to get away from them. This is how these two meet with her in a snow bank and him needing supplies before the big storm comes in. Will these two survive the storm or will then end up killing one another with all of their past baggage?

This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have hooked from the first word to the very end. You will take an emotional roller-coaster with these characters you won't soon get off of. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

SOUL-STIRRING - FIERY, PASSIONATE READ

“Gone Wild” is a revised edition of chivalrous Sawyer’s journey to true love. New vivid scene descriptions enhance the realism in this captivating story. A molten-hot soul-stirring read that kept me turning pages eager to learn the outcome of this romantic tale.

Sawyer, a brawny sultry woodsman lives a tranquil life deep in the Alaskan woods. Humiliated by social media bullying, he bid society farewell. He is an honorable man, aces cooking and loathes individuals associated with social networking sites. Elsie an Instagram model has countless fans leading a life of fame. A dismal past has her believing she can only find happiness in the limelight. Beneath her glossy carefree persona is a woman who aches for unconditional love. Stuck in a deteriorating cabin during a raging snowstorm these two clash like Titans. As fiery desires of the heart deepen, they face many challenges before reaching their happy forever.

A well-written creative read that fuses reality and fantasy. Elsie and Sawyer’s chemistry is genuine and their devotion for each other is rock solid. Heartrending backstories help readers understand the character’s personas. The author does a fabulous job showing how social media impacts life on both sides of the coin. I found this to be an entertaining read.

Elsie has become an internet sensation à la Mrs. West. While in Alaska on one cold night Elsie learns of a betrayal of the highest order and stumbles out into the storm to escape her betrayers. She is unprepared for the harsh conditions, however, and is suffering hypothermia when she is discovered by mountain man Sawyer. Sawyer lives full-time in Alaska, after having suffered a betrayal of his own, and was on his way to town for supplies when he discovers Elsie. He takes her to a cabin back along his route to warm her up. They become stranded in this desolate cabin by the storm. Sawyer then discovers that (he thinks) Elsie is everything he hates about modern society and part of the reason why he has chosen to live all alone in the wilderness. Can they survive both the storm and each other?

I know this is an expanded version of Saved by the Woodsman but I had somehow missed reading that version of the story so I am not comparing this to the original version. This story seems typical when it starts out but as I kept reading I felt that both Sawyer and Elsie (especially Elsie) had many more layers and depth and their stories had much more emotional gravitas than is typical. There is also a message about the dangers of social media “fame” that I think is very important, especially in this day and age. All in all, this is a great story by Mr. Cleveland that should not be missed.

I had previously read this book before the revisions and title change and I enjoyed it. Now after the changes and a reread I think it is an even better book. The additional added content really provides an opportunity to delve much deeper into all things Sawyer and this truly enriches the overall story and helps you firmly connect with the character. I felt that this book was not only a entertaining read but an important one. Sure, it delivers a swoon worthy romance but it also has a couple of important messages woven through it. For one, it shines a light on our heroes in uniform and their struggles and the challenges they can face when their service is over. This is so incredibly vital and I feel that this author does an amazing job of creating thought provoking and eye-opening content for readers that do not have first or even second hand knowledge of the difficulties these service people endure. The book also does an admirable job of showing the double-edged sword that is social media and the many roles it can take in our lives. A fun, spark filled storyline and lovable characters with amazing chemistry make Sawyer and Elsie's book a should not be missed read! This is my frank, freely posted review.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is an updated version of Saved by the Woodsman. To say i loved this book would be an understatement. Sawyer's journey was so emotional and i could fully understand why he wanted to leave life behind and move off the grid in Alaska. Sawyer was a soldier who's life exploded when he left the military to be with his girlfriend and get married, only to find out she was cheating and his reaction was caught on tape, going viral. Elsie is an internet influencer who is celebrating her engagement to Ben at a resort in Alaska when she catches him cheating. Elsie is a little drunk and flees into the wilderness. Sawyer finds her and brings her to an abandoned cabin to save her life and wait out the storm. Elsie is shallow and only concerned with getting likes and having some kind of acceptance after her bad childhood, but it leaves her shallow. During their stay at the cabin, both Sawyer and Elsie take a look at the way they were living and it changes them. I really loved Sawyer and Elsie together, i think they were good for each other and could understand their pasts. Another great story from Eddie.

Gone Wild was previously titled Saved by the Woodsman, but has been expanded. Sawyer has escaped into Alaska to forget his past. Elsie has ran into the wild Alaska to forget about her ex’s betrayal. A winter storm has brought them together, their initial impressions of one another leads to strife, but could they form a connection that will withstand real life?

This book was really interesting to me, and completely caught me off guard. I think I was expecting one thing, but was pleasantly surprised by this book! There’s an emotional depth in both Sawyer and Elsie that captured my heart, and I couldn’t help but cheer for their connection! Physically, they fit. First impressions, they definitely did not, but I loved getting to know both character deeper. Elsie’s past, her needs... I loved that she ended up showing Sawyer her true self, while trying to combat her internet addiction. Sawyer had his own battles to overcome, but I loved his protectiveness and his desire to keep Elsie safe and secure. I really enjoyed reading this romance between this unlikely couple!

I love this remade version!! Sawyer has served his country proudly and was ecstatic to return home to his girlfriend for a surprise proposal...but the surprise was one him. After being made the but of every social media joke her retreated to the mountains to live, away from the pain. Elsie overcomes a horrible childhood by being an Instagram influencer. She is having her engagement party in a hot tub at a resort with her pushy fiance, friends and her step sister. She knows her life is fake, but she never wants to go back to what she was. Her fake world crumbles when she finds her fiance screwing her step sister. Drunk and angry she takes off into the cold night with only her wet bikini, fur coat and boots. On one his infrequent trips into town Sawyer finds a half frozen Elsie in the snow and decides he has no choice but to save her. Snowed in for days they end up breaking down the walls they have each put up and soon realize the passion brewing can't be ignored. I love their stories and the change they take on each other....so good!

Sawyer is a military man who gave his heart to one woman. When she crushed it on national tv his world collapsed. He leaves everything behind an moves to Alaska. He is living a tranquil, off the grid, secluded life, far from the social media bullying.
Elsie is an Instagram darling. She's engaged to a man who pushes her to post constantly and increase her followers. Her phone is never out of her hand. When he does the unthinkable she runs away, right into a blizzard.
When Sawyer and Elsie meet neither can believe the other lives as they do. Their attraction is immediate but she needs to get over his gruffness and he needs to see past the Instagram girl.
The blizzard brings them together in a cabin and the heat is off the charts.
When the weather clears will she go back to her "fake" friends or stay with the one person who has been completely honest with her?
Enjoyed the book. The story flowed well and the characters were very likeable.

I already read this story when it was called Saved by the Woodsman and I loved it.
So when I was told it was being re-released with more on Sawyer’s back story, I was excited to read it and I was not disappointed.
I really enjoyed the connection Sawyer and Elsie had right from the start, their chemistry was undeniable.
Even though Elsie seemed like she was a rich spoiled brat but after spending time with someone who turned his back on society and lives off the land she has changed her perspective on life.
Unfortunately Elsie’s boyfriend turns out to be an even bigger idiot once she is rescued and she realizes she doesn’t want that life anymore but has she left it too late with Sawyer?
It’s great to finally understand why Sawyer cut everyone off and now isolates himself from the world.
There were some fun, silly and serious times while trying to wait out the storm. What better way to keep warm than sharing some sexy steamy moments ;)

I really enjoyed reading this splendid, entertaining romance & I found the story-line and plot intriguing with some unexpected situations. The characters are well-developed & interesting with different sides to their personalities, at times they tend quite confrontational with realistic emotional feelings and/or expectations but ultimately complement each other.
There is: a young woman (Elsie) celebrating her engagement discovers her despicable fiancé (Ben) cheating on her with her foster-sister (Kate)& flees into the wilderness & is discovered by an ex-soldier & mountain man (Sawyer) who left society, his cheating ex-girlfriend (Farrah), twists & turns, drama, memories, deceit, betrayal, humiliation, emotional turmoil, discovery, confusion, verbal conflict, attractions, misunderstandings, regrets, rescued, confrontations, accusations, rejection, some violence, declarations, love, contentment, some steam & a well-deserved happy conclusion.

This was A great story. Sawyer was a military man, and is getting out to be with his girlfriend and start a family. He ends up being humiliated on live tv and then on the internet. He decides to leave and live off the grid in Alaska. Elsie is a social media darling. She is addicted to social media and loves the attention she gets from her “friends”. Elsie has always been told that she not good enough, not pretty enough, etc. and has low self-esteem and lets people walk all over her. When something happens, she runs into the woods and collapses. Thank goodness that Sawyer was in the area. He saves her from freezing, but they both end up saving each other in another way. What will happen when Elsie is found? Can she live a life away from everything and everyone? This will give you some feel good feelings.

A romantic story that also exposes the shady side of today's obsession with social media. Sawyer becomes the laughing stock of social media when a proposal goes horribly wrong. Elsie's life revolves around the number of "likes" she gets when she posts pics of herself doing whatever in her life. Finding out her fiancé is cheating on her is something even her social media followers cant help her cope with. When she comes upon her fiancé cheating on her with her foster sister, she blindly runs out into the Alaskan wilderness. When Sawyer comes across her lying in the snow, a series of events that will change them both is put into motion and all you can do is hold on for the ride. I enjoyed this book and hope you will take my advice and purchase a copy.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

Finding peace

Sawyer gets out of the military and decides to propose to his girlfriend on national tv. Instead gets surprised with her pregnant with another man’s baby. He become an internet sensation. He unplugs and head for the woods. He only encounters people four times a year when he gets supplies. One trip he encounters a woman not dressed right for the blizzard moving in. He just wants to get her back to her people, but has to wait for the storm to past. Can he survive when he finds out what she does for money? Can he show her that she can do better with her life? Can they fight their attraction for one another?

Come watch two people who view social media completely different from each other also fall for each other. Feel the heat of passion they stop trying to ignore. Take a roller coaster ride of emotions as they figure out what they really want and need.

Heartwarming: Love Military Romance.

I had received this book as an ARC for my honest Review. Well done Eddie with this revised story line previously "Saved by the Woodsman", Gone Wild brings you further into Sawyer's character. When Sawyer and Elsie meet it takes awhile for them to warm up to each other and find out that they have several things in common. Sawyer's heartbreak which leads him to live a secluded life in Alaska and Elsie thinks she can only exist through her social media followers along with her own heartbreak. When these two meet sparks begin to fly, will they be able to trust one another and let things fall where the may and help each other heal? Strong willed characters, great story, a must read. One that I could not put down as it had me from beginning to end.

Saving each other - Sawyer served his country and people just have no respect. He was down and instead of leaving him alone, social media turned on him. His depression led him to Alaska. Fast forward years later, in a luxurious resort in Alaska, Elsie, her fiance Ben, foster sister, and friends in the hot tub were just behaving shallowly. It’s their engagement party. Good thing the author didn’t decide to dwell on showing how pathetic they are. Although I don’t like books where the female character has to be saved, I couldn’t help but like Sawyer. I think his wounded but strong personality made it less irritating for me. Elsie did save him too. A nice ending scene complemented the story. Wow just wow

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review, but in reality this is Eddie and if you have read any of his work you would know it is going to be great! In this revamp of Saved by the Woodsman, we get more in-depth on Sawyer. It broke my heart the pain he grows through but in reality a lot of military men and women face this. To take him and his internet pain and mix him with a woman who feels she can't survive without her internet fans is interesting to say the least. But page by page these two come to find out there is more to life then hiding or playing a role on the Instagram. Definitely a story that will hit you with all the emotions!

A wonderful read that kept me glued to the pages and cheering on the main characters. After being publicly humiliated when his tour is over and he comes home to find the love of his life pregnant with another man’s baby Sawyer retreats to the mountains in Alaska to live off the grid. After Elsie finds her fiancé with her foster sister she takes off into the woods in her distraught state and ends up passing out in the snow. Sawyer finds her and takes her back to a cabin to wait out a storm coming in. Will the love that starts blooming between them be strong enough when the storm ends and the real world comes calling?

I received this book as an arc and am voluntarily leaving a review.

🌌Opposites attract and keep each other toasty warm😉

❄🔥🏔 I found this an enjoyable romance with heat (and a lot of ice, thanks to the Alaska blizzard setting!) and a pretty basic plot. Girl with no life outside social media, meets guy who has good reason to be camera and media shy in dramatic, life and death circumstances. It's an easy, fairly quick read with a positive ending. Sawyer, the military veteran, was my favorite of the two and I was happy that he found peace from the humiliation he suffered in his previous relationship.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

A frigid walk through the Alaskan Wilderness just got an emotional, hot and heady facelift!
Sawyer - lost to the darkness of death, and the wrath of public shame the retired Soldier finds himself thawing out a half-naked women, with an online persona that doesn't match her offline one and a mountain of past life demons still hanging around.
Elsie is everything he " dislikes " about the world, yet being stuck with her has its perks!
I loved the editions to Sawyer and Elsie's story, making them both more relatable, heartwarming, and sensual.
Even better the second time around- Mr. Clelevalnd bares his skills for all to see with this latest read!

Gone Wild is a great story about a man who gave his life for others but instead of being thanked for it he’s ridiculed. My heart broke for him as he struggled to deal with what happened.
At first I didn’t really care for Elsie because she seemed shallow and phony but as the story goes on we’re given insight into why she acts that way. Once the layers are pulled back it’s easy to see that Elsie is actually a slightly broken but truly beautiful person.
I loved seeing the two overcome their differences and find happiness they didn’t believe possible.
Their story is a wonderful one about love, acceptance and healing.

Sawyer and Elsie's story was two strangers surviving an Alaskan blizzard. Sawyer went into seclusion in Alaska after his humiliation in the media when he got out of the service. At first I found social media butterfly Elsie to be a bit unlikeable and a whiner as Sawyer seemed to do all of the work for their survival. As they are forced to work together to survive, things began to change. Although they were as different as night and day, they found out things about themselves and each other that brought them together in a HEA. **I was gifted a copy of "Gone Wild" and leave my honest opinion based on my reading. 4.5 Stars!**
