Vera Cana has given her life to escape her abusive ex. She's earned her freedom and has the scars to prove it. Now, she's starting a new life. Purchasing a cottage in a lush forest, she's ready to live out her days in peace. The goddess has other plans.

If Vera thought by hiding out in her little cottage she could avoid any more packs and their alphas, she was wrong. When her new neighbor knocks on her door, the draw to him is magnetic, but the scars of her past are a barrier higher than the boundary fence between their properties. Dale's presence causes a heady mix of calm and excitement, which only adds to the potency of his patient, but determined personality. Vera is about to learn a lot about the way packs work, and she's going to discover how strong she can be.

Nothing takes more inner strength than learning how to trust someone with your heart.

A stand-alone paranormal romance.

Still giving this a five-star rating even though there were quite a few typos. They were easy to figure out and didn't take away from the story at all. Beautiful ending.
A must-read.

Kind of SPOILER (it's weird and possibly a trigger):

Dale owns a modeling agency. Part of it is for this thing called the something 'Underground' or 'Underground' something.. It's sexual pictures in human, beast, and wolf forms. But his own daughters do it and he's fine with it. It's just kind of weird, but I guess it's since they are Lycans, they see each other naked after shifting. Plus his daughters are adults of over a hundred years old, so...
(Dale loves them and his son with all his heart, though, and would never do anything bad to them. He a great father, and a great person overall.)

Warning: Abuse and rape triggers.
Also, lots of steamy scenes.

Dnf, i could not get past the lack of consistency of the main character: she is a victim of abuse and she just keeps pouring her toughts, her traumas and her past to complete strangers whenever they make the least effort to know her, whyyyy?? That is not how any victim would react, you would think that it just happens with one other character but NO, it happens with any living thing that shows up to her and ask "what up, why are you scared". It makes it seem like the abuse plot is just a means to an end, to put her in the place of the dove with the broken wing to be saved by this pack and to hell with any coherent conclusion you may have made of your previous run in with a pack. I just can't keep going when characters (even more if they have gone through traumatic experiences) act completely incoherently just for the sake of the plot.
