Abby has just arrived in Los Angeles, ready to make a fresh start after her breakup. Her sister and her brother-in-law have their own ideas . . . and his name is Mark.
Laurie Baxter has degrees in both puppetry and screenwriting because let’s face it, majoring in English would have been no more useful and way less fun. She loves chocolate, ice cream, chocolate ice cream, dogs, New York City, old movies, modern architecture, all kinds of theater, and music from before she was born. Her eighth grade English teacher told her to become a writer, so she did.
Abby arrives in Los Angeles, looking for a fresh start after a tough breakup. Her sister and brother-in-law have plans to help her move on—and those plans include introducing her to Mark.
This is a short romance story, and it's interesting how a blind date can turn out. I liked how quite a lot happened during that short date. Considering it's a short story, there were plenty of details and some funny scenes included. Most of the time, I felt like I was missing a lot of backstory about what happened before this, and of course, I was curious about what would happen next.
I really enjoyed this short story. The hero and heroine were hilarious. I always hated blind dates, so this story is so relatable. I would love to read more of this author's works, especially if they are also cute and funny.
Such a cute, fun short story, I enjoyed it very much. Laurie Baxter is becoming one of my favourite rom-com writers. I love this series and I can't wait to read something longer by this author.
How to derail a not wanted blind date This is a good short story that describes the reactions of a couple who do not know each other and who are brought into a trap organized by the sister of one of them. It's humorous at first, more than romantic, as the two main characters do not want a blind meeting, and in addition they are 4 at the dinner. Abby's sister arranges an appointment for her, on Valentine's Day because she broke up a few months ago with her boyfriend. She did not look for anyone, but her sister trapped her by arranging a meal on Valentine's Day in a romantic restaurant with her, her brother-in-law and a friend of his brother-in-law. Abby and Mark find themselves stuck and uncomfortable in this atmosphere with the other couple who pushes them despite themselves. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is a short story that can be read in probably a half an hour or less. It is actually very funny, and the author actually writes comedy well. She has a good sense of how to portray those little absurd moments in life. The heroine’s sister and brother-in-law set her up on a blind date for Valentine's Day, nonetheless. Except for the very beginning and the very end, most of it reads like a movie; that is, it is mostly dialogue with a bit of thought and action thrown in. So it is not a story that's heavy into deep introspection, characterization, or big-move action. That said, I did enjoy this very humorous quick read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This a cute, romantic, hilarious contemporary love story. Two people who were tricked and bullied into a blind date decide to turn the table n their well meaning matchmakers. I really enjoyed this light hearted romantic book, especially with the surprising ending. The characters were well crafted with great personalities that brought you right into the book. the dialogue was great. This book was easy to read but hard to put down. I really liked the writing style of the author. I look forward to reading more of her work.

A new, super-cute addition to the "Cute Shorts" series! Yay! I'm always delighted when I learn that Laurie Baxter has published something new - I thoroughly enjoy her light-hearted stories, and "Blindsided" is no exception. One of Laurie Baxter's gifts is creating characters that I'd like to know and be friends with in real-life. Abby and Mark make a fun couple (albeit unwilling at first), so Trish and Jeff had the right idea (in general), even if the set-up was not necessarily the smoothest... ;)
I really liked the premise: Abby and Mark are set up on a surprise blind date and have to try to get through it. They come up with an inventive solution! The writing was very funny, and Mark and Abby were interesting characters. This is a great short when you need a few laughs.
Blindsided is a super fun, very short story. I really enjoyed it. The book's premise is that a happily married couple decide to set up her sister and his co-ball player at a romantic dinner on Valentine's Day. That's just wrong! the dialog is smart and this story is very entertaining.
Short and sweet hilarious rom-com. Abby and Mark are unwilling matched on valentines day by her sister and her brother-in-law. It's an easy read, with a good flow and entertaining characters.

Cute and short as advertised. When are good intentions and a blind date that is really perfect all wrong? When your older sister and her husband can't take no for an answer... Read this for a couple of giggles to find out what the blind date couple did to stop the matchmaking.
Clean romance that you can picture easily happening.
They get set upon a blind date that neither was expecting or wanted, but while deflecting attention away from them, they discover some things in common.
This is a very short story, but as always Laurie Baxter gets you involved with her characters. The story was fun and fast. I liked both the leads. My only criticism...I would like more...what happens next. =)
I really enjoyed this short story where two singles were dragged on a date by a couple who thinks they're perfect matchmakers. Oh how they'll taught not to do this anymore, lol.
I received an advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
