"It's a great movie with great depth"-Hollywood North 9.5/10 rating

"A brilliant film. A must see!" BBC

TIGER tells the incredible true story of flyweight boxing champion Pardeep Singh Nagra who battled bigotry, bureaucracy, prejudice as well as his own self-doubt and demons to stay true to his Sikh faith and religion.

A talented Asian-American sportsman, Nagra realizes his tempestuous nature and misdirected anger needs a focal point and he finds it in the squared circle. Blessed with the psychology and physique of a natural born fighter, he excels in a sport that becomes an obsession to him.

But while he can defeat the opponents in the ring, those outside it prove to be the biggest challenge of all.

Battling the prejudice of society and his opponents, Nagra comes up against boxing commissions who demand he shave his beard-an essential tenet of his faith-leaving the fighter with no option but to fight for his beliefs and the right to compete on his ability alone.

His legacy forever tied to his biggest battles, one in the courtroom and the other in the ring, the 'Punjab Tiger' must overcome institutional prejudice, corruption and the ugly racism of those who demand he sacrifice his religion and faith in order to be accepted.

Tiger is an inspirational story of determination, spirituality and the spirit of perseverance.

Tiger (The Official Movie Novelization) by Saurav Dutt is a great boxing biography based on Pradeep Singh Nagra. The book is a novelization of the movie Tiger. It shows the struggle of a Sikh-American boxer who has to fight for his rights before following his passion of boxing. The story is set in the USA.

According to (American Boxing Club) ABC rules, Nagra cannot fight with his beard and turban. He challenges that proposition and runs around the courts to prove that a sport should not have problem with his religion or faith.

The novel reveals a lot about racism and other ways of discrimination. People mock him and challenge him to fight but before that he has to downgrade his faith. When he refuses to do that and fights in the court, he shots into fame. The world calls him ‘Punjab Tiger’. He may not be appreciated for the ring wins but certainly for his rights. He changes the way people look at Punjabi or Sikhs through beard and turban.

I have not seen the movie, but all the way I found it quite fascinating. As soon as I finished the book, I saw trailer on YouTube. It is a great story in both formats. Inspiring and motivating, Nagra's story shows that fighting for one's right is not an easy job.

With a mix of action and drama, I relished this novel like anything. I read it in just 3 hours on Kindle. I would pay anything to watch the movie if I got it somewhere. Since the book was short, so I will not get into minute details. I leave it for you. It is an explosively entertaining novelization of a movie.

Tiger is based on an American-Sikh young boxer named Pradeep Singh Nagra. He is a sort of a stubborn but tough guy, wherever he goes invites trouble. First in the soccer match and then one day in a boxing club. Well, after basic introduction. The story becomes serious with its tone and implications. In simple words, Tiger is the story of an aspirant boxer on a foreign soil.

Nagra is targeted as Muslim, Bin Laden, terrorist, people call his turban a rag and wherever he goes people makes him a soft target. The story offers a sense of humanitarian compassion when Nagra is dragged from one court to another. But what is the problem? The ABC – a sort of sports body of boxing in the USA – doesn’t allow him to box until he shaves his beard and takes his turban off. And that is totally unacceptable to Nagra.

Nagra gets help of a few people from his circle. They challenge the rules of ABC, finally they win. Nagra gets in the ring. The story is not about sports glory or sportsperson biography; rather it is about how one can fight for his rights, even on foreign soil. An amazing story that sheds light on internal sports insights, prejudice, disparagement, etc. The story is straight but a lot to learn from it. I liked the story and after one point of time found it unputdownable.

No matter what the movie was. I considered this as a wonderful novel on boxing, sports, rights, racism and so on. Pradeep Singh Nagra lives in the USA with his uncle. He takes up boxing as a sport and career and frequents the Wakefield club for practice and all. Right since the first day, there, he gets into hostility with Doyle, a fellow boxer. Things turn ugly between them. But the bigger picture in the story is racism and internal discrimination in sports. People do not look at him with proper grin; they call him terrorist, an outsider, etc. And above all, there is restriction imposed on him to box. If he has to box, he needs to remove his turban and shave his beard, which is totally opposite his faith. A lot of drama unfolds as in and out he fights his case with the ABC and courts. Pick up the book to know what fate Mr. Nagra meets. And why is he called the Punjab Tiger? Is sports glory above all or human rights matter? An absolutely dramatic story with mix of emotions and action and thrill!

Tiger is a beautiful book that the author got from the movie itself. The story is back dropped against the unreceptive culture of the USA. The protagonist is Pradeep Singh Nagra, being an American-Sikh with palpable confidence and robust strength, he chooses to box for the Wakefield Boxing Club with the support of his coach Donovan. However, the white boxers and others tease him and his turban and beard. A ghastly tale of racism and white prejudice unfolds and it perturbs the sportsmanship of the young boxer.
The American Boxing Club (ABC) does not allow him to box until he shaves and removes his turban, due to health reasons. He cannot lose his faith but wants to continue as a boxer. The coach and his daughter fight for him in the media; they are dragged from one court to another. At one point of time, it becomes the story of winning rights than the glory in the rings.

A riveting novel on Pradeep Singh Nagra’s struggle with American Boxing Club. They banned him for boxing but he fights against prejudice and discrimination and keeps his dream alive. Based on the Tiger movie, even the book turned out great one.

It is a tale of determination that inspires millions of people to fight for their rights. Saurav described a lot of fight scenes deftly, keeping the narration lean and to the point. Other than a great story, the novel also reveals the intricate nature of boxing sports. If someone keen on learning boxing, can pick up this novel to see what it takes to be boxer. It is a perfect novelization of the movie. Great job Saurav!

A brilliant novelization of the movie! It is a story of Nagra who is a Sikh American. He gets into boxing with one club and takes his boxing career to higher stages but there is resistance from all sides. ABC doesn’t allow him to take up boxing championships until he shaves his beard and takes off turban. Racism runs higher in the novel; in fact the story is staged against it. Faith, fighting for rights, and sports glory are some aspects that run deeper in the novel. All in all, it is a good book by Saurav Dutt. Laced with action and drama, the story comes forward as a rich source of imagination to all.

It’s an interesting story to observe as how one man fights against the world that seems to have set its foundation on racism and prejudice. It is an inspiring story of a boxer who did not flinch or changed his faith to get the glory in sports. With a forward from Parminder Singh Nagra, the book with all its brilliance and intensity does not forget to impress its readers. Truly an inspiring story! Putting a movie into words is a mammoth task but it seems like that Saurav Dutt has done it seamlessly.

After Mohummad Ali, this is one of the finest boxing stories I read and watched. An incredible story, packed with melancholia of a rising star. Nagra’s character was well-sketched; he fights for faith and sports. Truly an inspirational story. the book was short but its influence is way larger than a common mind can apprehend. Go for it, great story.
