Rate this book
Sri 'Vayustuti' a great sanskrit poem, authored by Trivikrama Panditacharya, is the first recorded biography of Acharya Madhwa, who gave the dualistic interpretation of the Vedanta and is the last among the triumvirate Acharyas who gave distinct interpretations of Vedanta. The other two Acharyas being Shankara and Ramanuja. Trivikrama Panditacharya was an adversary turned disciple of Shri Madhwacharya 700 years ago, the proponent of "Tatvavada" Vedic darshana. Vayustuti is a great work of poetry singing the glorious avataras of Vayu, as Hanuma, Bhimasena, and Madhwacharya. It also upholds the supremacy of Shri Hari, the lord of the universe. It contains fourty one divine verses, each of which is a beauty in rhythm, syntax and harmony. These holy verses were composed by Trivikrama Panditacharya, in the presence of Acharya Madhwa, when he had the providence of seeing Acharya Madhwa worship Lord Hari, in his three avataras of Hanuma, Bhima and Madhwa. Acharya Madhwa added two more verses to Vayustuti through 'Nakha Stuti', praising the finger nails of Lord Narasimha and set his seal of approval to Vayustuti. Sri Purushottamacharya Raichur a scion of the family of 'Sri Satyabodha Swami', a pontiff of the Uttaradi Mutt, has translated the holy Vayustuti into English for the benefit of devotees who can not understand Sanskrit. Sri Purushottamacharya himself was a great scholar of Sanskrit, Vedic literature and Bhagavata. He has also enriched the holy hymn, with notes, to help the devotees in understanding the deeper meaning of the verses. Vayustuti is extremely popular among the devotees and is recited by them as part of the their daily worship. It is believed that reciting these holy verses will rid people of their misery, fear and bring them material and spiritual benefits.
