First and foremost, I feel cheated by the cover. I absolutely love the art on the cover so my minimum expectation of this manga was that I'd be able to appreciate the art. The main character is actually the one in the foreground and is conveniently facing the other way - his face is, for lack of more sophisticated words, stupid looking. And before you think I am being shallow, I'm not talking about beauty or good looks. Apart from the fact that I don't believe there is such a thing as an ugly face (after all, different people like different things, right?), in fact, it would have been refreshing to have a main character who doesn't fall into any particular norms. The problem is that this whole manga was beautifully drawn with detailed and expressive faces with the exception of the main character. He had a stylised face which I would normally associate with devious thoughts or someone deranged with ulterior motives. I couldn't take the main character seriously with his weird expression, in fact, I found him very creepy and unsettling. And no, it's not just the odd panel here and there, it's the way he is drawn throughout the book.



Now that I've spent a paragraph bashing the main character's face, let's turn to the actual story and see if it had any merit. Not only does the main character have this creepy expression, he acts accordingly too. He develops a crush on a handsome classmate (from what I gather purely because he is handsome), borderline stalks him, begs him for affection and doesn't stop hugging or kissing him even when the other tells him to stop. Although I don't know why our main character likes this classmate, as a reader I found the classmate to be the only likeable character. So in return, it is entirely beyond me why he likes this creep of a main character.

Both aesthetically and character dynamic wise, I saw nothing compelling about these two characters as a couple which is pretty much the downfall of any story where the main focus is the romance. I don't know what drove the author to give the main character such a weird face but it feels like such a waste given the otherwise beautiful art. I didn't enjoy this one and am just a wee bit extra bitter because of how the cover tricked me. Alas, this one is not staying on my bookshelf.

Actually, 3.5 I got pretty bored at first, but I tried giving it a chance, and I finally got the hang of it. It's cute and fluffy!! I like how the atmosphere is quite different here from other shounen ai that I read before. And the art is swoon-worthy too! (Felt like a long time since I used that word. Chuckles!) It's actually cute, but I felt sad for what happened to Katou in his past. That's just terrible. And I felt pity for Owada for all the kicks he accepted! Hahaha

Die Geschichte ist leider trotz der vielen Seiten relativ langweilig. Eine gewisse Idee lässt sich zwar erkennen, aber die ist wenig ausgearbeitet. Leider gibt es viel Hin und Her, was den Fortschritt der Geschichte behindert hat. Eine gewisse emotionale Entwicklung ist zwar zu sehen, aber die Gefühle der beiden zu einander kamen leider nicht so rüber, wie ich es mir bei einem Band mit nur eine Geschichte gewünscht hätte. Dazu muss ich sagen, dass beide Hauptcharaktere trotz ihrer Komplexe (Owada) bzw. Vergangenheit (Kato) recht eindimensional wirken.

Dass Owada von Kato und auch von anderen des Öfteren geschlagen wurde, wurde recht nachlässig gehandhabt.

Unfortunately, the story is relatively boring despite the many pages. A certain idea can be recognised, but it is hardly fleshed out. Unfortunately, there is a lot of back and forth, which hindered the progress of the story. A certain emotional development can be seen, but the feelings of the two towards each other unfortunately did not come across as I would have wished in a volume with only one story. In addition, I have to say that both main characters seem quite one-dimensional despite their hang-ups (Owada) and past (Kato).

The fact that Owada was often beaten by Kato and others was handled very carelessly.

i don't know why they fell in love, i don't know why everybody slapped and kicked everybody, i don't know how every single review of this failed to mention that there are indeed sex scenes in this (that's on my stupidity to be fair) and i don't know what i just read. but pretty cover goes brrrrrr

„Uns trennen Welten” ist einer dieser Mangas, nach denen ich wegen dem wunderschönen Cover greife und sie letztendlich auch kaufe. (Ich LIEBE dieses Cover!!) Die Story ist ganz süß aufgebaut und der Zeichenstil ist auch sehr hübsch.

Der zurückhaltende Owada gehört eher zu dem normaleren Fußvolk in der High School. Der gutaussehende Kato mit einer guten Menge Arroganz zählt dahingegen zur Elite. Beide treffen schließlich aufeinander und eine interessante Beziehung entsteht.

Leider muss ich zugeben, dass ich mir von dem Cover schon ein bisschen mehr erhofft habe.😭
Manchmal fand ich Owadas Direktheit/Nervosität zu unnatürlich. Dasselbe gilt auch für Kotas Art, in Situationen zu reagieren bzw. Entscheidungen zu treffen. Einige Szenen fand ich etwas unrealistisch, dass sie genau so geschehen würden, aber im Großen und Ganzen ein gelungener Manga!

El personaje principal es insoportable, y aunque el dibujo está bellamente hecho, la forma en cómo avanza la historia es un poco atropellada. Y nos deja huecos argumentales que podrían ser resueltos en un segundo volumen que no existe. Por ejemplo, ¿qué pasó con el papá pedófilo de Katou? ¿Katou no se va a enterar nunca lo de su padre?

La historia no avanza de manera muy natural, y la personalidad del personaje principal hizo que quisiera abandonar la historia prácticamente desde el capítulo uno.

Me gusto que demostrara que, incluso personas catalogadas “muy bellas” o “inalcanzables “, también son personas con incertidumbres, inseguridades, confundidos y dudosos de sus acciones. También son humanos que quieren hacer las cosas bien. Entretenida la trama.🌟
