Evergreen Academy was supposed to be my fresh start...and Somerset University my second chance.
All I wanted was normal. Normal classes. Normal professors. Normal sorority.
I wanted the Somerset Sallys to be like every other Greek house.
I wanted the pretty, fun, sweet sisters to be genuine. I wanted the smile of their enigmatic leader not to conceal a secret.
And I wanted the story they told me to be true.
I should have known that was too much to ask.
Ezra
Somerset University was the first step.
I’d make excellent grades, better connections, and take over the Media Maven’s empire.
Joining a fraternity wasn’t part of the plan. Neither was stumbling into a disturbing plot, witnessing a kidnapping, and having the world think I’m delusional.
The Somerset Sams are not what they seem, and when they struck, they brought me to my knees.
But I am not what I appear to be either. Beneath the charming persona is the man who’ll protect the woman he loves at all costs.
For Valentina Moon, I will be what I have to be.
Ruthless.
Ruthless is a reverse harem college romance and a continuation of the Evergreen Academy series. This is book one in the series and features language, dark themes, and sexual scenes. If you're cool with that, dive in!
Ruby Vincent is a published author with many novels under her belt but now she's taking a fun foray into contemporary romance. She loves saucy heroines, bold alpha males, and weaving a tale where both get their happy ever after.
WHAT?!?!? How did I not know this was happening? AND it's from Valentina and EZRA'S POV!! I'm so freaking excited!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I loved seeing Ezra, Ryder, Maverick and Jackson living with Val and Adam. Building a true family. Ezra is waaay hotter with Val when they are alone! It was adorable when Ezra would sit down toddler Adam and talk about his day. 💗
This one focuses on Ezra and the FMC as they join fraternity and sorority houses where students go missing. Of course they get caught up in it so... anyway I love this more than the high school series. Things are more settled sorta. But so much is happening too.
oh my. this was amazing. I cried lol. Also that ending?! I screamed.
I didn’t expected to be even better than the evergreen academy series but woah. the rush and secrets were there and at full force.
Seeing the guys interact with adam as his parents was so sweet, my heart melted a few times.
thoughts 1. reading from ezra’s pov made me love him even more. 2. the humor was top tier. I laughed really hard. 3. I cried for my girl Valentina. She deserves the world. Poor baby. 4. The guys defending her? Amazing. We love protective boyfriends. 5. No more mannequin Ezra. That’s for sure. 6. The end? Wicked. For sure.
I read the series before this when this RH met up at Evergree and loved it! Now that our five-some (Valentina, Ezra, Maverick, Jaxson, and Ryder)has graduated and moved in together at Somerset University, the action, steamy moments, love and friendship are only getting better. Val’s 4year old son Adam has become a son to all the men. Val's best friend is right there in the thick of things, pledging to the same sorority, the Sally's. Their counterparts, the Sam's have an equally elite fraternity for the guys and Ezra has pledged to it. They say there's no hazing, but there's just something that's not quite right going on in Greek Row. Hopefully, they can figure it all out before the clues disappear.
Val and her boys are back after high school and the trials they faced at Evergreen and I couldn’t be more excited! This book features Ezra (one of my personal favorites) and it’s just as good as Evergreen. This series does focus more on Val and one of her guys at a time so we get more time with them and that’s what makes it so special. Baby Adam isn’t a baby anymore and it’s so fun to see this age, since we met him as a baby and then later as a teen in Breakbattle!
WARNING: HOLD OUT ON READING THIS UNTIL THE SERIES IS FINISHED OCT '21. The cliffhanger on #3 Mercy is too much and will make you angry to have to wait.
Loved this book was so excited to see the series was continuing and we were getting the college years for these characters.
I was excited to get a more in-depth look into all of vals individual relationships with each of the guys. The previous 4 books in the evergreen series were all narrated from vals point of view. So it is nice to finally get to see inside the guys heads a bit more and see exactly how they feel about their very uncommon relationship. I also enjoyed seeing how the families and outside friends handled there unique predicament.
Starting with Ezra for the first book of the series was a good idea, out of all the guys he gets the least attention and I was curious to learn more about this character. I really enjoyed learning about his brother and father since we had only really been introduced to his mother in the previous books.
I think having the main mystery of this series be about the sketch behavior in a sorority and fraternity was a great idea and very on theme with the previous series secret society.
The only part of this book I didn’t like was how short it was, there is a few parts that seemed rushed such as all of the Sons Of Slaughter plot line and the resulting shooting.
I personally would be interested in reading more about how this relationship works on a more mundane day to day basis. There is always some crazy mystery happening which I love but this is such a unique relationship dynamic that seeing some of the more normal interactions like the 5 of them going to parties is actually really interesting to read.
I can’t wait to read the other 3 guys books I’m specifically looking forward to Mavericks and Ryders books because they are the Quietest of the guys. I am hoping at the end of this there will be a large epilogue that gives a view into their lives later in life. More so than what can be seen in the battle break series. I want to know more about their shared children and what Sofia is up too.
I didn't know I needed this book until I started reading it. After getting over my book hangover at the end of the Evergreen Academy series, I didn't expect to find out more about Vals life (other than what we gleam in Breakbattle Academy series). But OMG I'm so glad Ruby Vincent has given us this series! This is an excellent continuation on from the last series with as much drama, laughter and love. I thought having it focus only on Vals and Ezras POV would mean we miss out on the other guys but Ruby has written it really well so there is still plenty of scenes with the other guys in it.
In this book Val and Ezra have just started Somerset University and are making new friends and rushing for respective sororities - The Somserset Sallys and Sams. But of course all is not as it appears in these illustrious sororities and Val and Ezra end up in the wrong place and the wrong time (on a number of occasions) leading them to discovering secrets they were never meant to discover and we come to realise that these sororities and the 'loyalty' their members have to each other, runs much deeper than it initially appears. I love the mystery element of these books and they are always full of plot twists so you can never work out what exactly is going on - it is never as straight forward as you first think.
Of course Vals boys are always there to back her up when she needs them, but I love the fact that Val stands on her own two feet, protects her boys in return and doesn't go running to them over every little problem. I also love the relationship the guys have going with Adam - they have fallen into the father role so easily, which I imagine cannot be easy at such a young age and with all of them going through changes (starting uni/work).
Loved the ending of this book and just cannot wait to see how the story continues in the next book, plus getting insight into Jaxson will be amazing!!!
All Valentina wants is a typical college experience, so Sophia and her pledge to a fraternity on campus. Things are very average at first until they get twisted. Ezra also pledges to a brotherhood of the fraternity they did in the hope to be close to Valentina and stumbles upon conversations and actions he just can't explain. With all that in mind, he ends up leaving, but the darkness doesn't stop there. It is really weaved thru this story from beginning to the end.
The author did a fantastic job bringing us an exciting twisted adventure romance. This book couldn't get any more suspenseful from one thing to the next. It will have you spellbound. Of course, starting with The Everest Academy Series is a great idea to get to know the characters better as they are carried thru the story. Valentina and her Knights now her boys are experiencing their first year of college, but of course, it can't go all as to plan. But this book is definitely dark and twisted. This exciting adventure with so many unexpected turns that I'm even surprised our beloved characters survive. This book isn't dark because how the boys treat Valentina not that kind of romance. But more in the trouble, they must get over and the actions they take to defend each other and their family.
Wish I read it right after I read the evergreen series. Lost some of its effect on me since it was so long since I read the first series.
Harem is already together in this book. So you miss all the of getting together stories. And I think that’s what I was really missing from the story, personally.
Lots of drama. A bit unrealistic. But still kept me reading. I was wrong about the twists and turns the story took many times. So it kept me guessing.
I would recommend them. But only as a continuation right after reading evergreen.
I was all into Evergreen Academy, but by the fourth book I was a little bored. It was an anticlimactic ending to it all. So it took me a bit to decide if I wanted to give the same characters a try in the college series. But so far I have no complaints! Book one has kept me captivated and that cliff hanger has me starting book two even though I have to be up early for work...
one of my new favorite series. I hope that it doesn't end with college, I hope Ruby Vincent finds a way to continue these characters beyond college years. I have a feeling something is up with the sororities, and can't quite put my finger on it yet, but I'm sure we will find out as the series goes on. Oh, if you haven't read the other series yet, I recommend it. You don't NEED to before this one, but you may miss out on a couple of hints to their high school years.
I loved having the guys' POV in addition to Val's in this one. Their dynamics, along with Val's, were great, and I enjoyed how they all took up parenting Adam together. The university stuff was interesting, though there wasn't much of it. However, all the sorority and fraternity drama felt like unnecessary bullshit just to add drama, and it's getting boring. I honestly skimmed through most of that stuff.
This book was amazing! I loved ever second of it while I was reading it. There were twists and turns I wasnt expecting, and it just got better as I read. I definitely recommend this book for the readers who have read the series before. That series would be the Evergeen Academy series. Cant wait until the next book in the series comes out!
I actually came back to book one to leave this review. I found this set of books (still waiting on the last one) full of twists and turns that i didn't fully expect. The story is really well written and it sucked me in; even more than the evergreen series. I look forward to the final instalment.
I loved getting to read more about these characters in thier collage years. More drama , secrets, and twists in this book and I am left with so many questions but can't wait to dive I to the next book to get answers. This story is getting intense and I can't wait to see where this author takes us on this journey.
Okay, so I thought that Valentina, her guys and Sofia would go to college and be happy. Not so much... Yet more sinister goings on within sororities and fraternities, alongside the cartel, prevents any such happiness occurring. With a shooting, kidnappings and the cliffhanger that saw our protagonist driven off the road, I cannot wait for book two.
I’m typing this review as I read Ruthless, and yeah—I treat these characters like real people. Good book, I enjoyed it. The story kept me turning pages, though I definitely had a few “what are you doing?!” moments with the characters. The drama was on point, but I wish some of the decisions made more sense. Still, I’m excited to see how the story wraps up.
A very good continuation from the high school series to the college one. I just don't understand why after going through what she has that she would ever contemplate joining a fraternity, but she does and of course they are shady as hell.
I cannot wait for the next book. I recommend reading the evergreen academy series first but this spin off won’t disappoint. It follows them to college and when I say it I mean it all. Full of hot, hot sex, hot guys and mysteries. What more could you want?
Ezra is holy hot and ruthless to the when it came to protecting the love of his life.. This this book with it's twists and plots was fun to read and kept the suspense churning.
This book follows the main characters from the Evergreen Academy series. Val is starting college and still dating all four guys. Her and Sofia want the normal college experience so they decide to join a sorority. The only problem is, there is nothing normal about their experiences.
I love the characters and the trouble they find themselves in. This story is mainly about Ezra and Val, and I’m glad we get a close-up of their relationship. I can't wait to see who the next book will be about.
I love reading about them growing older and how their relationships grow stronger. And sweet Adam. He’s the cutest. This is a great series with all the same mystery but with a different spin.
I love the characters and I’m so happy to have more of them. However, this romance novel took forever to get going. I also don’t like that Ezra was lying to Valentina … it made me feel like he didn’t love her as much as I thought he did.
DNF. I couldn’t bear it anymore. Without the school plot with the aces keeping me going there wasn’t anything else I particularly cared about to continue reading. Definitely the weakest RH book series I have read in terms of dynamics.
Wait...I'm confused....in the final evergreen book unmasked, all the boys ended up with Valentina so why are they only have one POV for the boys at a time? They are all still together, right?
