Clive Allen is one of the finest goalscorers of his generation but arguably his biggest battle has been to prove himself the best in his own family. His remarkable 49-goal haul for Tottenham in the 1986-87 season still stands as a club-record which earned him the rare dual honour of Professional Footballers Association Player of the Year and Football Writers Association Player of the Year in addition to the First Division Golden Boot. That stunning achievement is the apotheosis of a career which began at Queens Park Rangers before becoming English footballs first million-pound teenager when signing for Arsenal in 1980. Yet, in one of the most mysterious transfers of modern times, Clive was sold to Crystal Palace without playing a game and went on to represent eight more clubs including a year in France with Bordeaux before a brief stint as an NFL kicker for the London Monarchs.

Clive Allen record goal scorer for Tottenham in a season scoring 49 goals back in 1987 a year Tottenham played some fantastic football should have won a trophy but ended up empty handed. Clive explains in detail his ups and downs in football and his injury ravaged career, which prevented him from playing many more games. He played for seven London clubs in total, and also had a coaching role at Tottenham.
Also mentioned in the Book the falling out he had with his father Les Allen who was also a Spurs legend in their double season.
Easy and good read i would recommend for all Spurs fans.

A must for Spurs fans. I didn't realise how serious his injury was prior to his fantastic 1986-87 season was.

Also very fascinating how he signed and then left Woolwich within 30 days!

Brought back memories

Brought back memories of his wonder season 86/87. Also an interesting in sight to Harry’s reign. A real Tottenham man.
