It uses your DNA against you.
It knows no mercy, and feels no pain.

As the old world burns, only one truth remains.

IT. FOUND. US.

It’s the middle of the night. The city’s in total blackout. As the last cell tower fails, Lucy gets a desperate warning.

“Worse is coming.”

In less than twenty four hours, mass looting will begin. Panic will quickly follow. Then violence. Technology has failed across the globe, and a disastrous chain reaction has begun. But as the people of San Francisco sleep, they have no idea what’s coming. Lucy must seize her chance to get ahead.

As the last bytes of data vanish into the ether, the old world will vanish. In its wake, billions of citizens will be stranded in defunct cities, unable to communicate, or coordinate. For the first time in millennia, our species will be truly vulnerable.

That’s when the pandemic hits.

They called it D4. It’s not an enemy you can fight. It’s a process. We’ve never seen anything like it. And it’s just the beginning…

Ummmmm.

It is hard to write a review for a boxed set, but I will try.

I started the book and was enjoying the read, except I never really liked Lucy, the main character. The story was interesting but began to drag along after the train and I started to lose interest.

I never really “got back into the book”. It just seemed to goon and on and on, with nothing interesting happening, just a repetitive storyline.

The fact That I could not care less about Lucy had a lot to do with that.

I found the constant evil people and the constant capture and escape, the constant just in the nick of time to be irritating rather than engaging.

I would give it 2 stars but anyone who can write a story that long deserves some kudos for hanging in there

I wont read any more, nor am I interested in the free post script offered at the end of the book

Something completely new to sink your teeth into

I downloaded the first book on a whim when it was free. Months later, with nothing else to do mid Covid lockdown I picked it at random from my stash of unread books and settled down to read.
Perhaps one of my best decisions and I quickly purchased the box set.

This is nothing like anything I've ever read before. I found the first book when searching for pandemic novels and it delivered on that front. I personally found it wholey believable that if the world were faced with this kind of situation, then this would be the kind of outcome to expect.
As I got further through the first book though I had a growing fear that it was going to turn into a zombie apocalypse type novel as the market is so saturated with those that I want nothing to do with them.
But oh how wrong I was.
I won't spoil anything but the following 4 books are something completely new, an idea like nothing I've ever read or even heard of. The descriptions of the events and the things bring them clearly to your mind's eye and I lost myself very quickly in them, devouring all 5 books in two short days.

My only issue, if I had to pick one thing, would be that I felt like I wanted more from the epilogue. While it ended well and didn't fizzle out like I almost expected, it did feel like it ended rather abruptly, although it felt like a natural conclusion too. I just felt like I was left wanting more though. I'd quite happily read a sequel (or 5) on how the world dealt with the issue a few years after the main events of the books.
Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and the author will pen a sequel one day.

This is definitely a series I recommend though if you fancy something a bit different to anything you might have read before.

Kathy f just finished

I enjoyed it very much even if it kind of cracked me out a little in this time and at this pandemic that is going on. I liked the fact that the writing didn't get boreing or slow ,it was often that I read late into the night.
As a new or struggling writer give yourself a pay on the back. Well done.

Poor spelling and punctuation

Very poor or a complete lack of proofreading made this book impossible to finish. If you are going to write books you should have at least a moderate command of the English language. I found this a complete waste of my time and effort which is unfortunate.

A Different kind of Pandemic

I enjoyed the books, they were well written with an unusual story and interesting characters, I did find some of it a bit repetitive but kept reading till the end. There's also a nifty wee postscript at the end, if you sign up for it. I wouldn't mind reading more books by this author.

Wow, Marcus Martin has quite the imagination and he puts it to paper well. His story is well written with realistic characters and lots of action. Getting the box set and being able to read the whole story at once is great.

Interesting view of an apocalyptic event.

Different take on end off world events. We aren't just talking zombies but DNA changes creating a very different world. Fun read, recommended for those who enjoy differed probabilities.
