For every beginner who wanted to trade in a market, he or she must find a place to start. Elliott Waves was the place for many, including me, to start their journey. I find it certainly a good place to start as it is a fantastic scene to start with. As time moves on, however, you'll wonder if it is an illusion, one that disappoints, and as subjective as it is, depending on how and when you look at it, it changes the picture and tells a different story every time. Elliot Waves is a beauty in the eyes of the beholders.
The problem of Elliot Waves lies in the counts, where you start and where you would want it to end. It is a theory devised by Ralph Nelson Elliot, born in the late 19th century, an accountant by trade, claiming that he had deciphered the Nature's Law - The Secret of the Universe and found the enigma code in stock market. Based on collective human behavior, the stock price runs according to a five-wave principle and so a trend is formed with these five waves. Knowing where you are in the trend, of course, is a huge edge in the stock market to make money because then, you would know where to buy low and sell high.
Enters the book "Elliot Waves Made Simple" by Steve Sinclair. In an attempt to explain Elliot Waves principles and techniques in simple terms, the author summarizes the gist of the them and make a presentation of the theory in this little book with a lot of pictures, graphs and trade examples. Basically, there are two phases in a five-wave trend, namely, the Motive phase and the Correction phase. In each phase, there are different types of wave patterns and the author explains them one by one with rules on the pattern, for example, wave 2 should never go below the starting point of wave 1, wave 4 must hold above the start of wave 2, etc.
Overall, the book is meant to be facilitating recognition of the variety of wave patterns. The book achieves its objectives to explain the patterns and the rules. To the more initiated, however, there is no discussion on some of the more important questions like the best timeframe to use the Elliot Waves techniques, trade setups with Elliot Waves analysis, risk management, etc. Of course, all these would perhaps be more suitable for a longer book, not a book under 100 pages. It would still be a long way if one is to master the Elliot Wave techniques.
If this is simple, idk how much complex original Elliott will be 😮💨. Dropped it after starting the trading style chapter
Of course, it seems author tried to simplify as much possible. But still not simple enough for beginners.
First of all, before identifying wave patterns, you have to teach how correctly mark the points 1,2,3,4,5,A,B,C. Because what you marked are not all just HH,HL,LL,LH.
