You Liangxing would never open the speech function in game. That was because his voice was… Particularly! Kittenish!
But there was one day, he queued up with a teammate who had so much to say that they may as well explode. Vexed to the point of no return, he contributed a voice that was capable of splitting heaven and earth, “Don’t BB.” The other party who was being scolded stilled. In the ensuing silence, he suddenly let out a long, relishing… Moan. You Liangxing: “…..”
Later — He realised that the person was a great god, Much later, Without him realising, He became the great god’s royal healer. …. And also his boyfriend.
I think I’ve picked this up before and dropped it to read later as I remember some of it but I didn’t get far back then. It’s mainly about esports which I love. I’ve read some well known titles like I Can Do It, Glory, and Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating.
Luckily for me I tend to forget around 70% of what I read unless I go through it multiple times so I can always pick books up again without remembering the endings. I often stop reading after the main leads get together, or maybe I just forget like I said I’m forgetful.
Anyway, back to the point I’m dropping this book at 31% (chapter 46) because I feel like I already know the pattern. Since I’ve read multiple esports titles there’s nothing new or exciting to keep me going. Still it’s not a bad read if you love esports, give it a shot.
"Kang Shengzhe and the next half of Kang Shengzhe's life are all mine. Prior to this, I already declared that I'm not letting go of his hand, I'm never letting go."
and with the heart of a true maiden, kang shengzhe’s heart nearly collapsed from the love & adoration he has for our story’s healer.
this was truly too wholesome :’)
three things must be said!!
1. firstly, i sincerely thank goodreads for recommending me this hidden gem after i finished pubg. in a semi-rare occurrence, they actually hit the nail right on the head with this one. but also since mistakes are clearly bound to happen, i will lightly rebuke them for just barely deceiving me by saying this story was anywhere near 700 pages 😭😭 i knew it was a lie once i was like a quarter in, and now i just find it too funny.
every 1k+ danmei i read to the end, an angel gains its wings…
2. some readers on novel updates will tell you that the dynamic between you liangxing & kang shengzhe is abusive because of the amount of times ylx hits the latter, however…..were you too much in disbelief when kang shengzhe talks about how much he enjoys it…..? that boy has no shame whatsoever and that’s exactly why you liangxing has to slap him back into reality sometimes 😭😭 idk that was a part of their dynamic that i found really amusing because they’re such opposites, and through that, they ground each other immensely so. it’s sweet.
3. i loved this entire story, as tedious as it felt sometimes…probably my most favorite though really has to be the first half of it ngl….i was eating up all the e-sports content, which was a lovely surprise. at this point, i can still only count all the e-sports novels i’ve read on one hand, so this one was able to leave a big impression with my non-existence gaming background. what i most enjoyed from this author’s portrayal, is in kang shengzhe’s role as an anchor in his live broadcasts.
he has such a natural charm that is critical for any entertainment anchor, and he also had an impressive gaming skillset to go along with it!! i loved how in all the matches he played in, it wasn’t simply relayed to us readers as a simple summary, but almost as if he was mc’ing the event despite being an active player himself!! it was like how you have those mcs at baseball or hockey games who bring the game alive for the audience—to see it through kang shengzhe’s pov made me become a small fan of him because he was so cool!!
i thank the translator a lot—🌺 yuuki on chrysanthemum garden—for picking up this story <3 it was deeply unserious at times, and that’s what made it also have a lot of heart. i loved how well-rounded this story was in not just portraying the life of a gamer, but also college students who have their fair share of tasks and responsibilities. their friends, too, were an absolute gem. i have such a huge soft spot for liang chulin!!
seeing him & you liangxing bond somewhere at the beginning of the story was another one of my favorite parts…i was really glad to see him pop up pretty regularly, and even be there at the start of his soon-to-be prosperous writing career as a danmei author lol
going back to my thanks towards the translator, my first comment when i started this story was in how mystified i was by how “clean” the story read. after almost a whole week of reading, i can’t really decipher how that was even supposed to mean 😭😭 there’s just something about the writing style that i really liked….it read so smoothly, no matter how ridiculous kang shengzhe acted at times (which was basically…all the time, really), and it had a very good standing. the footnotes were also very cohesive and fun!!
this was this translator’s first work and for that, i send them a lot of love because they did absolutely amazing!! thank you for sharing this story with us, and i look forward to checking out your other translations!!
A fun gaming novel with some very eccentric characters & kind of whacky humor. The main relationship is between a livestreamer & skilled gamer, Kang Shengzhe, who is shameless, lazy and loves sleeping in with You Liangxing, a rich son of a businessman & actress who recently got roped into playing a game and meets Kang Shengzhe by chance. It's mostly light-hearted shenanigans, with a lot of really well-written UST. The shirtless boxing chapter was a treat. In comparison, I feel that the relationship actually tapered off and became less interesting once they got together.
The author's humor, especially, didn't quite work for me. It was fine at the start. But the cartoon violence of You Liangxing beating up everyone around him kind of makes him sound unhinged & dangerous rather than just someone goofing off or roughhousing, though that's clearly how the author intends it. And uh... Kang Shengzhe is really really shameless about saying some very embarrassing stuff, which gets exponentially worse when the two of them actually become a couple.
I don't know if I can rec this whole-heartedly but if you're looking for a quick popcorn read, there's a lot of good stuff, especially in the first half of the book.
this books is absolutely amazing and breaks through the usual stereotypes you see between a gong and shou! the gong and ml in this case is a 2 meters, yes you heard me 2m!, tall beauty who streams as anchor for a game called king's glory! on the other hand we have our mc shou who is standing on his own 185cm tall height. a cold but handsome looking lad who has his own absurdity, a girly voice! this story is about a enormous golden retriever who fell in love with the almost never speaking ice queen!
jokes aside though I loved how this novel doesn't have your regular basic character tropes. characters all have their own quirks and things you'll love about them. side characters are quite well developed and actually show purpose for the plot as well as setting the mood for the reader. they arent just there to move onto the next scene but actually bring something to the table!
the only thing you need to know before you start is that this is quite a slow burn. not in the way that they know each other and don't express their feelings, but in the way that by half of the novel they haven't even met yet! as you go on and reach the 40 and 50 chapters you might get a little annoyed by the ridiculous reasons for them not having met yet. HOWEVER pls believe me when I tell you it's worth the wait!
even tho it might look like one loves the other more or the other brings more to the table in terms of a stable future, these two have amazing communication. something we sadly don't always see in danmei novels. there is little to no drama between the two and the more you read the clearer it becomes that they really are equals who love and work just as hard as the other to make this relationship work.
in the end I truly love how this author writes on falling in love with the same sex, even if you'd never think about being someone like that your own. questions about sexuality and labels are often brought up and lets just say I'm so glad I never once read a "I'm straight but just gay for him". its natural to not know who you are or how to label yourself when this happens, believe me I know. so having an author write about this in a realistic way honestly warmed my heart!
in the end I will be giving this story a 4.5/5 stars!! it was a lovely read with lots of happy feelings and i finished it like a storm. if you read it don't feel like you have to rush it though. I loved this novel so much I just kept on reading, but in the end I'm quite sad that I'll have to say goodbye to all these amazing characters so soon already <3
Cute e-sports story about a shameless anchor and the handsome school grass with a girlish voice. It was a pretty quick read; I read the majority of the story in a day and slowly finished the last couple chapters up as I was losing interest in the story near the end.
The author eventually starts focusing on their relationship IRL rather than on Glory and their in-game interactions, and that's where I thought the story was weakest. My favorite parts were definitely in the beginning and middle when they first meet in the game and get to know each other, before meeting offline for the first time. After experiencing Kang Shengzhe's character in person for a while, I realized his personality is too sticky and shameless for my personal liking, and that became a bit of a turn off.
You Liangxing's character was also a little too perfect. He's smart, rich, handsome, and good at everything he tries to do. Somehow he gets multiple kills (I think triple kill?) his very first time playing Glory, which I find hard to believe, and he's never depicted to struggle with the game at all despite being a novice, not even when he plays a new character for the first time. For his first internship, he's the CEO of a company and is successful in launching a new venture. What kind of guy is an all around perfect human like that? The author tries to spin it so that his voice is his one weak spot, but I would've liked to see him struggle a little bit or have some more flaws. Even his parents were very accepting of his relationship, which I found surprising, as I would've thought his dad would want future heirs to their business empire...
There were definitely some hilarious moments, like when YLX was caught between his older sister and KSZ, or during some games when KSZ gets revenge on his fellow anchors. I found myself chuckling quick a bit especially in the first 2/3 of the book, so I'm giving the book 4 stars for my pure enjoyment.
The characters are quite eccentric! A different kind of ML and MC so I had a hard time digesting and imagining it. Truly one of a kind ML and MC. Kudos to this! However, there were quite a lot of gaming scenes that I found quite bland despite being a gamer; or probably because I am a gamer, in my opinion, the scenes doesn’t appear to be as amazing as written.
Eu gostei bastante, valeu meu tempo.
if not for kang shengzhe, this would’ve been a 3/5. but alas, his shamelessness got to me so here we are w/ a 4. the one reviewer who said he was worse than wei wuxian wasn’t lying and im thankful because i absolutely adored his obnoxiousness. i really need to find more books with characters like him. we freaking love you god k
there are a few things that weren’t my fav though -you liangxing’s violence… -i got some vibes of “you’re the exception to me being straight” and was not a fan -you liangxing was just an okay character to me. i feel like at times he even annoyed me a bit, but not everybody can be lovey-dovey i suppose & he got better towards the end -as another reviewer said, you liangxing’s voice was hard to imagine. i had to keep reminding myself to make him sound like esther yu in my head LOLLL and that was difficult -this isn’t a big deal whatsoever but i wish that the 2nd ship at least got an extra or something,, i usually hate prominent side couples bc hello im not here to read about you but in this case… i really liked them😭
Please, as someone who absolutes adores gaming novels and online romances and LGBT+ main leads, this was an absolute treat. I read this way back in 2020 but reread it a while back and it is good to see that my love for it has not changed one bit.
This is not a review per se but just an honest showcase of my love.
The characters are silly in a lovable way, the story is goofy and so are the interactions. As a MOBA player, I absolutely loved the gaming aspects of the plot (which might off-put certain readers but tbh, you don't have to know the game to enjoy the dynamics). And honestly. the MLs quirks are my most favourite part of it all.
If anyone is looking for a light read for a lazy afternoon, this might be it for you.
4.5 pros: good characters, their relationship dynamic is really cute, the game aspect is different than usual which is refreshing, loved the families on both sides
cons: the fact mc will punch the love interest when he is especially annoying a lot was a bit uncomfortable, hard to imagine the mcs voice
Was in my tbr list for a long time, but unfortunately it wasn't really my cup of tea. I didn't find it very fun how the mc would beat up the ml so often and the gaming part wasn't as entertaining as I've read in other gaming novels. I still did finish it cause I was curious but it was very lukewarm for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
MC- the biggest gap moe you could ever encounter ML- the most shameless person you could ever meet (like seriously his shamelessness is even more than WWX)
overall? it's way too funny go give it a read and absorb the seretonin and fluff
I love the novels where the couple meet by gaming and are a lot of misunderstanding! This is one of those but really one of my favorites!! Is pretty well writen and both characters are so charismatic and funny!
i liked it!!!! i loved their dynamic a lot and i like that it was a light easy read with only good feelings! still can't really fathom you liangxings character appearance/voice settings but that's okay i loved him anyways!
I probably would've killed the ML for the sheer amount of shamelessness he exhibited but honestly, I think one of my favorite things about him were the hints that he was such a paper tiger. The way his hands would shake when he was acting up and his little displays of nervousness were endearing. I also liked the reverse on the trope where the MC is the one who came from a ridiculously rich background and the ML is actually from a very normal family. Relentless fluff and very little conflict. The characters were fun and it was a good time passer. I'm not sure I'm going to remember much about it in a couple of months but I had a good time reading it.
Strong first half of the book and the last few ending chapters were sweet but wow was it difficult to read during the middle portion. The plot was engaging and I really loved the initial build up to their relationship but then it sort of devolved into just mehness and then sorted itself out by the end for the most part. Still IMO the romance between Kang Shengzhe and You Liangxing was fun for the first half and definitely the strongeat part of the book.
Currently writing this trash review that no one will even read at 00:47, apologies for any mistakes I make.
I can't even remember the characters names, so I will just call them by the nicknames they call each other with _(:3 」∠)_
— Liang Liang (MC) has a very girly voice that sounds like a loli's, it's supposedly very 'kawaii'. He doesn't like talking and is apparently very hot.
— Ah Sheng(ML) is a lazy bum who's very, very, very shameless (yes, important things must be said thrice) he could probably match( or surpass) the shamelessness of Wei Xiao from 荣光[电竞]
Liao Su(that's his name???) x Liang something something( yeah sry I forgot his name the short male, NOT his older sister) I ship them so hard, destroy my ship and you die.
Not bad, but it got really draggy in the middle for me.
Sorry but it can't compare to "I can do it" in my opinion. Not bad of a read.... but it wasn't that addictive / sucked me down a rabbit hole kind of feeling
