Children are dying in the town of Archer’s Peak and the ones who survive bring back terrible stories. A strange woman named Erica Slaughter has appeared and says she fights these monsters behind the murders, but that can’t possibly be true. Monsters aren’t real… are they?
Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.
Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.
This is one of the best new series I’ve read in the past several months. This issue just keeps the momentum going with this lovely slow burn. JT4 is a favorite of mine, and this books is an example of why.
There's just something about this series that's so good. It's very, very, very much like Stranger Things, and I think that's not lost on the creator, but it's also got its own thing going on as well. The plot just keeps getting weirder and weirder and I'm a big fan of that. Also, the art is pretty great, I mean it's not super crazy or well done, but, for the content of these issues, it's pretty great.
Will definitely keep reading these. I really wanna know what's going on and it keeps ending in the most ridiculous cliffhangers!
It's been a busy week and I am looking forward to the weekend, even though I am still self-isolating, I have been working from home and still pretty much living a mostly normal life (I worked from home before this, so not much has changed for me in my daily routine). This week I decided to dive back into a graphic novel series I picked up a while ago, I really enjoyed the first volume and I believe all the volumes are out and on Hoopla (so that is a total win).
SPOILERS AHEAD
We rejoin our duo who are starting to work on the missing children situation in this volume. However, things do not go over as smoothly as they hoped. They go to a local restaurant (like an Applebee's sort of place) pretty much as soon as the place opens. They bribe the manager to hold a booth (they intend to use this as a base of operations I believe). However, this same manager overhears what they are talking about and happens to be the older brother of one of the missing children. Things escalate from there and they end up having to leave the restaurant and go their separate ways for the time being.
I am going to keep the summary and spoilers as brief as possible with this series because I do not want to ruin anything. I know this is a short-run graphic novel series and so far I think it is amazing but I do not want to ruin anything for anyone who might read it after seeing a review even if they just take a cursory glance. I feel like there is some bigger mystery at work in this graphic novel and I do not want to ruin what could be an amazing/ wonderous experience in the end for anyone. I am so intrigued to see where this series is going to end up! I still really love the art style and I am excited to pick up the next volume.
"Monsters are real, and they’re hungrier than ever. Heroes are also real, though they’re not quite what we expected. At least, the one that appears in Something Is Killing the Children #2 certainly doesn’t appear to be your everyday hero.
Something Is Killing the Children has been a dramatic and disturbing tale so far. It introduced us to a world where the monsters seem to prefer to eat little children—and they’re not always considerate enough to leave behind a body to identify. It’s a sad day when you consider that sort of thing a slight win."
Man oh man So this who DC hired to finish Batman after firing Tom King..It's just not good. I was not thrilled about the first issue but because it has been already a huge success I thought I would stick it out and see where number 2 was heading, and let me tell ya folks it heads straight into a ditch. I don't mind comics that are heavy with dialogue in fact I revere it however the dialogue needs to be clever while still being realistic this falls into neither category, it just falls. The entire issue is like a speeding train and when it finally gets to the end it derails so heavily it killed all of the children in the entire bullsh*t town.
I love the blond character and her attitude. Even the jerks in this story are mostly understandable. I mean, the manager has an interesting story going on. Only two of these are available on the library app I use, so I'll have to go find more of them in the wild. Woop!
After searching for weeks! I finally find a good book, "Something is killing the children", when I read the first few pages, I somehow got attached, really good book. I recommend it to people who are more mature-like, can handle graphic content. It does contain lots of cuss words, and children being torn apart. But after reading book 1, I really loved it! I'm going to continue finishing this book, the plot is so good! It makes you come to many conclusions, and there are so many good scenes (bloody)! Definitely one of the best books I've read, truly and highly recommend this book.
I liked how the kid with the glasses is so composed, even he WITNESSED his friends getting MASSACRED by the "creature", after searching and searching for people who would believe in him and not find him CRAZY, he meets an old lady, maybe in her thirties or twenties, she is known for killing some monsters, and she is highly good in investigation. Her weapons she used are, machetes, guns, and katanas (i think a katana scene was too bloody to tell). They both meet up, and investigate some more scenes in locating where these bloodthirsty monsters are. This is about how far in the book I am, Im definitely going to read some more. Cheers!

Okay so I thought the first issue was pretty good and pretty interesting, but it didn't wow me. But this one on the other hand was so good and I am dying to know what happens next! I loved the cliffhanger at the end and it was one of those satisfying moments where I am not annoyed, I just want to know more. I am also waiting to hear more about Erika's backstory, but am so far satisfied with the little flashback of her fighting that we got in this one. Also that was a brilliant way to introduce new characters with the mom and brother of the missing girl. I am ready to get to the next one, I am so intrigued! I can only write in these messy sentences because I am too excited about it!
I was lukewarm on the first issue but this issue drew me back in because of the mysterious Monster Hunter (does she have a name yet?). There was less horror (which I don't like that much) and more mystery (which I do). There were some cute/funny touches which I like because if a book is all doom and gloom it gets pretty boring for me. Although, I have to say the Monster Hunter (for someone trying to stay unnoticed) was pretty dumb here, and within 3 minutes gets thrown out of a restaurant and has the cops show up at her hotel.
The buildups to the title of the series and the cliffhangers are really suspenseful! I’m hoping the manager of the knockoff Applebees ends up becoming an ally. I got goosebumps when he left for work and the monster was right in front of him but he couldn’t see it! And I am really curious about what the stuffed octopus is. How can this girl still see these things if she is older now and I am assuming only children can see them? Is it something to do with the thing on the side of her head? What is killing the children?! Do the children become these things that are feeding on the children?

Emmmm ¿Ok?
We meet some of the adults in the town of Archer's Peak, who are paranoid and trying to pin the blame on someone for the disappearances of the children. Erica is a mysterious figure carrying weapons whom some people blame. Erica appears to be a on a mission to hunt down this monster. But who really is she? The book gives you a glimpse behind the curtain into this mysterious personage, who appears to be taking orders from someone she talks to on the phone.
