Brace yourself! Tear jerker, psychological slapper, emotional bomber!
I loved book 1 in this series, even over looked all the errors and writing issues. However, book 2 focuses on the SAME couple from book 1 instead of one of the brothers. That was a disappointing turn in events in itself.
But then the main H, Derrick, SP OI LER ahead, gets injured and forgets all about the h, Stel. Just BAM memory lost of her! This is a horrible terrible experience for her to endure. He remembers nothing of what they went through, how she carried his family through book 1, their love etc.
This is pure torture for her. How would you feel if all of a sudden the man you loved forgot you and didn't want you?
Here's the worst part, sp oi lerrrrr, he does not get his memories back! Sure, they end up keeping their relationship going.... but at what cost to her? Now I'm sure these things can happen in real life, but that's real life. This reminded me of the movie/book The Vow. So for this to happen in this book when I was expecting a HEA....horrible.
She is going to have to wonder her whole life now since he's a different person if this new person he is would truly fall in love with her and want her all over again, if he wasn't stuck with her being wifed up and kid situation. Plus, she's going to be the only one that can recall their true love. So she's going to love him, but does he ever really love her again since he's different now?
So if you want a tear jerker, psychological slapper, emotional bomber, then you might want to grab book two in this series. But if you want a typical couple endures a struggle, but then things work out at the end of the book and a HEA, I wouldn't consider this installment to fit that category.
This is so sad too, because I had such high hopes for this series and had been heavily recommending it until book two punched us readers with its events.

It’s always like this for them. Their opposites always seem to fulfill each other. Her coolness seeps into him while his heat warms her. Two years of being with her and he is never going to get enough. Every day, he wakes only wanting more. She’s deeper than any obsession or addiction he’s ever known. “I’ll find you wherever you are. It’ll always be you,” Derrick says.

“Take it easy,” Adam says from his seat. “Take it easy?” he repeats. “It’s been three fucking weeks. I can’t remember shit that’s happened from the past three years. You’re all telling me I have a wife and an unborn son out there somewhere with no clue who the fuck has them!”

Her eyes hold his and it’s so fucking cliché to feel this way. To think these thoughts. It feels like something shifts inside of him. The memories don’t come rushing back. The only thing that comes back is his instinct to guard, to protect, to lay his life down for her. For her and their son. These feelings settle in his gut like a ton of bricks. It stirs every fiber of his being. And it’s too familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Fuck. What has he dragged her into? How did he bring someone like her into this life? She’s pregnant, kidnapped for the second time, packing heat, and being carried through the woods in a foreign country. How did he fuck things up so badly? She is so confident in him, it hurts. It hurts because he doesn’t understand why he would subject himself to this kind of... torture. It makes no sense. He’s torn between being the ruthless crime lord and then a doting husband already and it’s been less than half an hour of this reunion. How did he separate the two? How was he able to live this way? He is selfish and arrogant. He pulled a fucking angel from heaven and painted her wings red. Look at where they are right now. She’s eight fucking months pregnant with his son and she was held captive for almost two of those months, for Christ’s sake. What the fuck was he thinking?

“Well, shit. A car bomb nearly kills me. I wake up with this bullshit amnesia. I’m lying in bed next to a fucking stranger that’s carrying a kid I didn’t even know I wanted. What else could be going on?”“Spend some time with Stella. She’s too close right now. She needs you,” Adam says. “I can’t,” Derrick barks out. “What do you mean you can’t?” Adam asks. “She’s fucking suffocating me. I wake up every fucking morning to see the disappointment in her eyes because I still can’t remember shit about her. When I’m around her, I can’t fucking breathe. Everything is too fucking intense and then I can’t think straight. I don’t even fucking know if it matters whether it does or not. I mean... she’s young, Adam. She can move on. I never wanted to be shackled with a wife. And now I’ve got a baby on the way too? How the fuck do I even wrap my head around it? I mean... she’s not even my type. She’s so short and small, every time I touch her, I’m afraid I’m going to break her. I can’t even look at her sometimes without thinking I’ll burn her in one way or another.”

He pushed her out and she left, leaving everything behind. And he knows... he’s hurt her so bad that she doesn’t want to face him. It’s probably for the best right now. He doesn’t know if he can handle any more guilt at the moment. Guilt is too new to him. “Then she can’t fight for what she doesn’t have,” he retorts. Rory shakes his head and sighs. “If she stops fighting, I hope you can live with what you’ve lost once you get your memory back and your head out of your ass. If you really wanted this to end, you would have had divorced papers drawn up by now,” Rory says to him. “Don’t worry. There’s still time for that after she delivers,” he tells Rory before his brother leaves him in the dark and silence of the office.

“You are but you never even considered trying to at least get to know me. You’re too closed off to me. If I weren’t pregnant, I have no doubt that I would have been forced to sign divorce papers by now,” she spews at him. The silence hanging between them is deafening. It’s a tell that he’s definitely thought about it and that just pisses her off. He hasn’t made a move to come into her room either. He looks angry yet hurt now. “You’ve thought about a divorce?” he asks her. “No, but if that’s what you want and you’re sure you won’t regret it, then I can give that to you.” “But… you love me. Don’t you?” he asks. “I do, Derrick. I love you but why would that matter if you don’t love me back? I know it’s not fair to say because you don’t remember how things were between us. But if you’re not even trying to get to know me again, then we’re already doomed. The Derrick King that I married is gone. Wasn’t that what you wanted this past month? For me and Rian to have a different life without you?”He holds the door for her to pass and for a brief second, their fingers brush against each other. What she would give to be able to hold on to his large hand. But he pockets the hand just as quick as the electrical current rushes through her. It’s heartbreaking all over again. “Goodnight,” she tells him when he crosses over the threshold of the penthouse. “Goodnight, Stella.” And that was that. Nothing sentimental. Nothing remotely resembling affectionate. Just… heartbreaking.

She’d only been back to the mansion three weeks ago and he didn’t approach the subject of her moving back in. Neither of them is wearing their wedding rings anymore. Not that she has hers to even wear. Has he been stepping out on her this whole time? While she’s home with their son, does he leave her place only to go and sink his cock into someone else? He hasn’t so much as kissed her except for that one time on the plane. That was it. Other than that, it’s been polite kisses to the cheek. It wasn’t even like this when they first started dating. The thought that he might be with someone else has her blood boiling.

“Maybe she saw the blonde Doublemint twins there and decided against a scene,” Chase points out. He looks at his left and then to his right. Shit. This doesn’t look good at all. How long have they been sitting here? He can’t remember because he’s been too fucking busy daydreaming about his own damn wife. Though the blondes aren’t outright throwing themselves at him, they’ve been subtly suggestive. He flat out let them know he isn’t interested. Then he got caught up in whatever tale Adam was telling him. “You only have two hands, my dear husband. If you want to be able to hold your son again, I suggest you choose wisely how many blondes you touch.”

“Is it always like this?” he asks her when he’s able to move off of her. “Because I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to keep my hands off of you.” “Like what?” she asks, humming. “Mind-fucking-blowing.” “Always,” she answers. “Always and more.”“You are going to be the death of me,” he mumbles against her lips. “Then what a way to go,” she teases him.

“I’m just starting to find my way back to you. I’m just starting to find you. Don’t give up on me and be the sacrificial lamb for someone else’s happy fucking ending.” “Derrick,” she says. “This is Carter’s happiness we’re talking about. I’m sure you haven’t forgotten how much you love him.”“I’m not a good man, Stella. I know this. I may not be who I was when you married me or remember everything between us, but I do know that you are my wife. You are my son’s mother. I protect what’s mine. I’m not going to let you fight all this time to be here with me only to give it up for someone else. I’m not that generous.”“My dark angel,” she whispers against his chest in the dark. “I love you.” “I’m in love with you, Stellina. There’s no way in hell you get to leave me for any reason now. You got under my skin. You’re in my system even when I tried to fight it, wife. You’re mine. You go where I go and stay where I stay.” She sucks in a breath. In love? In love! “Finally,” she whispers with a smile. “Timing could have been better,” she grumbles afterward at his soft chuckle. She didn’t expect him to come out and tell her especially at a time like this but with that, he carries her over to the bed where he lays claim to her heart, her body, and her soul… again. “Mine,” he growls in her ear when she is completely full of him. “It’ll always be you,” she tells him as he cradles her exhausted body against his. “I’m certain it’s only like this with you, Stella.”

Well worth the read

I was dubious about reading this book from some comments but found as I did book 1 that it hit everything I wanted in a book. It’s like getting that extra epilogue that you so desperately want! Or the obsession to wondering what happened next! Absolutely loved it!! Abs seriously can’t wait to read about the other kings!
Cons
I debated giving 4 stars due to the grammar and spelling. And some of the plots with the business side of the story can be confusing and I needed to re read a few times but the fact I loved the story and the way the writer really engages you I didn’t have the heart to mark her down a star, especially since she is a new author. And in all honesty what a brave thing to do in publishing your own book.
The author hits all I want in a book so I will definitely be adding her to my fave author list and recommending her to my book club! Thank you 💋👑🤴

So good!

I absolutely loved Becoming His. I kept waiting for another in this series and Ami doesn’t disappoint. This was all the loving, heart wrenching, action packed, heated romance that the first book promised and more. This is such an amazing family. I had just checked the first out with my amazon unlimited, then this book. I knew I had to buy them! I am so tired of amazon asking if I want to return the books! 💗😂 No! Now they are mine!! Evil laugh...
and I might need a hard back copy too for Christmas...

I have been saving this one!

I like to hoard books that I know are going to rock my world. I’ve had this one in my kindle since it debuted. And let’s just say it did not disappoint.

I love Stella and Derrick. Their story has been so fun to read. So many unexpected twists and turns for the plot.

This series is amazing and ranks with my love for RVD Elite series.

Ami creates amazing plots, great action, steamy scenes, and supporting characters that just glow off the page.

Just read this series! Sooo good. It’s like reading in color.

My Thoughts....

I was so excited to know there was a second book, but unfortunately, this one wasn't as exciting or intense as the first book.
This book, being a lot shorter, felt like it took me longer to read.
There are many parts that I enjoyed. However, this whole memory loss really bothered me.....
I love Stella! Her character will always be one that I compare others to. The development, love, and evolution of her are beyond anything I have read and I will always cherish.
Overall I give the book a 3.5 stars - was hoping for something different

Again a fantastic story

This story was a great read for me. I'm in love with this couple. I look forward to hopefully read all about the rest of the Kings. I would also like to read a story about Carter and also Peter. The author makes you feel like you are right there with them. I hope the author will continue with this story line.

Good book

This book wasn't as good as the first one. It is still worth reading and the characters are well written. This book for into too much mob detail that at times had me rereading a page or chapter to get clear on the plan and the players.

Self note:

Not reading other books in series.
Apparently there's more drama for Stella and Derek. He is SA and apparently Stella can't forgive him. Im not sure of the ins and outs. Lots of unnecessary drama which I can't get on board with.

Book 2 has our same couple from book 1. So make sure you have read that one already. Book 2 picks right up where book 1 left us. We already know our couple can withstand mounting pressure, difficult challenges and outside forces. Can they survive a hit of unknown proportions?

Book 2

Stumbled upon this gem when I went to re-read the first book and how exciting that was!!! I didn’t realize the author would continue the saga of Stella and Derrick. This book definitely improved, less editorial mistakes still same high fast paced movement like in the last book but written much better with less mistakes. I knocked a star off because I missed Stella being the bad-A that she is, she wasn’t as impressive as she was the last book which kinda sucked, that coupled with how I was kinda disappointed that Derrick never regained his memory, which I mean I get it, gave the book depth but still. And not to nitpick, but I felt like I needed more action and it was lacking. Idk still an excellent read, and completely well thought out.
