Fenella found Graham, the man she's destined to love. Literally. They're both reincarnations of a centuries-old match. Problem is, Fenella's gift of Sight only lets her see glimpses of the long-dead couple and never past a certain point. What happened to the original lovers? Did they meet an untimely end? And if so, are Fenella and Graham headed for the same fate?
To get answers, Fenella must give herself over to powers she tries to ignore and reveal her witchy-heritage to the man she's falling for.
But can it be considered true love if the feelings first belonged to someone else?
REMEMBERING A WITCH is a 16,000 word paranormal romance novelette perfect for people who like pumpkins, pit bulls, and professors with sexy ginger hair! This story is inspired by the autumn equinox and is just the thing to welcome in the colder seasons.
Lauren Connolly is an award-winning author of contemporary and magical romance stories. She’s lived among mountains, next to lakes, and in imaginary worlds. Lauren can never seem to stay in one place for too long, but trust that wherever she’s residing there is a dog who thinks he’s a troll, twin cats hiding in the couch, and bookshelves bursting with stories written by the authors she loves.
I’m an absolute SUCKER for a reincarnation romance. Add in that the heroine is a witch and the hero has powers as well. I love love the idea of love transcending time, 2 people finding their way back to one another-Fenella is the reincarnation of an ancestor of hers, Marbella and Graham is Marbella’s beau, Henry, reincarnated. Marbella used her powers to see into the future and saw that witch hunters were coming so Henry spends his life without her. Now, through Fenella and Graham, they have found their way back to one another. Total swoon fest. 69ish page novella and I would’ve absolutely read more! Loved it
This. Swoony. Novella. Not only is Lauren Connolly an actual delight, but she put me in such a witchy/Halloween mood with this adorable novella of a witch and the man in her dream. So reminiscent of every witch movie you’ve loved before.
Didn’t enjoy this one. Still as well written as all her others, just too rushed, too ordinary, not enough detail to immerse the reader.
Honestly I was bored. We got introduced, then skipped 6 months ahead, past so much of the best parts. The gorgeous pup didn’t feature at ALL! The sex was gratuitous and unnecessary, as this was not a romance at all, without seduction or steam.
While there was an undertone of a romance running beneath the entire time, it never took hold. We focused too much on being told, not shown, and never got the chance to know the characters, or care about them.
The plot itself was also rushed through, and jumbled up. The constant switching between past and present within a paragraph, meant we never became emotionally involved in either.
It was a short story that lacked oomph, and would have been better off filled out and allowed to develop. It just didn’t work in this format.
Written as a novel, with more emotional detail and character development, this could be truly beautiful.
I suspect many will be able to enjoy as is, but it’s just not developed enough for me.
Absolutely gorgeous story. I was blown away by the stunning, evocative prose and the depth of emotion between the hero and heroine. The reincarnation storyline was well-done, with a clear world building trajectory that added to the heartfelt character of the book. A twist at the end contributed to the emotional arc while adding tension, everything working in consort to add up to a read that will utterly transport you to this wild, lush world of intrigue and magic.
This was really good. I loved the magic in this and the story was really well done. I haven't read many stories with reincarnation (I mean aside from the wicked + the divine and one nora roberts trilogy) before this but I will definitely be on the lookout for more like this.
Remembering a Witch is a delightful short story about reincarnation and how some souls are destined to find each other. I really enjoyed getting to know Fenella and Graham and those of their ancestors as true love always finds a way. I listened to the audiobook version of this story and the narrator, Kathryn LaPlante, was delightful!
The theory of recycled souls was a theory of Plato and his students. I really enjoy listening to stories involving past-lives. One of my sisters used to wake up in the middle of the night calling out for her "Rose Mommy." Many years later I discovered that my great, great grandmother immigrated to the United States from Ireland when she was 5 years-old with her father and they left behind her mother, Mary Rose. Gives me chills to this day! But I'm definitely a believer in reincarnated souls, which I'm sure contributed to my enjoyment of this story.
Please don't let the 3.5 stars rating distract from the fact that I did enjoy reading this book! It was my first novella and my first fantasy read and I definitely don't think it will be my last. I loved both main characters, their relationship, and of course the spice! The only reason I didn't give it a 4/5 star rating is because of the nature of a novella you don't really get to know the characters and what brought them to be in the position they're in. Nevertheless this was a good book and I would highly recommend to anyone as a quick little read, especially if you want to edge your way into fantasy.
This goes from “meet-cute” to “in a relationship” in a second. And then you’re supposed to be all in for these two. The guy says “I love you” in the middle of sex to his (apparently) 6-month girlfriend and then freaks out because she is likely to freak out.
I understand this is a short story but it’s really hard to be invested with folks that are “committed” but have never talked about feelings or who they are or anything. I just can’t keep going.
This was a quick read that packed a lot into a small package. I didn’t feel slighted, though. It was just the right amount of sexy and funny and sad all rolled into 1 novella. Fenella and Graham feel like they’ve known each other forever but can’t figure out why. Reading their love story and about those of their ancestors made for an engaging book. Highly recommend.
This is a nice little story focused on Fenella and Graham’s love for each other based on her visions of their ancestors. For a story this length, the character development was decent. Quickly read in under an hour. I obtained this book through Kindle Unlimited.
3.5 stars - I feel like the ending was sort of underwhelming. I think the focus on the magic made it hard for me to focus and fall in love with their love story. I am a sucker for magic and love but I think this is an instance where the novella needed to be a little longer for a bigger impact.

Absolutely loved this short story and I wanted it to keep going on and on. So sad when it ended. The writing is great and the plot was truly interesting.
What a perfect little package! This novella manages to tell a complete story with fleshed-out characters in 65 pages. And what a delightful tale it is, full of love, magic, and folklore all compactly told. It was an absolute joy to read.
This was a cute quick read, it didn't really keep my interest though like the first one did even though this one's shorter and I liked the plot note of this one. Maybe I just want in the mood..
