My demons are dark. My sins are many. And taking Natalie Good might be my worst offense yet. Because I’m the very Blackthorne responsible for her ancestor’s demise. But her blood sings for me, her body calls my name, and if kissing her is sinful, Romeo was right—give me my sin again.

I’ve made a point of avoiding witches for the last few hundred years. In fact, I’ve avoided almost everything from my past since my family decimated Salem.

So when a curse pulls me halfway across the world and into the path of a witch, I know should leave her alone. But I can’t. There’s something about Natalie that’s irresistible. I need to keep her safe, even if she doesn’t want protection from a Blackthorne Vampire.

The Midnight Coven presents:
Cursed Coven

On Samhain night the covens gather to share their power and celebrate. It’s a time for pure magic. A night of unbridled witchcraft. But there’s a dark force waiting in the wings, determined to curse every witch at the gathering, and when she does, no one escapes.

Face their darkest fear. Survive or die.

These are the stories of thirteen witches cursed at the one place they should have been safe. Join the coven and learn their fates.

This started out interesting and I was quite excited. Then it began to downslide. Felt the story had missing information and rushed. Never got a connection with the MC or FMC. Not having that connection threw the read off for me.

Action was bland. World build a little too simple. Secondary characters were limited.

Just wasn’t what I had expected.

Happy reading DD! 💕

The reason I picked this up is so I'd have an idea about two characters who show up in The Mate Games, what they were like and all that, before I get into that other series. I know neither of those two show up in this book, but whenever I'm starting a new series I like to read the prequels.

This was okay? I was expecting a bit more feeling, instead of just badabing badaboom insta love for you and your boo. Not a lot can be squeezed into a novella so it's fine, but at the same time if I didn't already have a motivation to read the main series, Wicked Thorne would not have made me continue.

The lore is there, but not fleshed out, the time travel is jumpy which can be a good thing, but here it ended up being confusing and as if it didn't even happen at all. What I mean by that is if we weren't told that suddenly Natalie was sent to the past I wouldn't even have noticed because there was no difference.

Hopefully Blood Captive will be better.

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did! I really enjoy this author's writing style and I can't explain what it is or why. I also appreciate how she's expanding the Blackthorne vampires universe she created a few books back into a series and the novellas with the Midnight Coven.

Natalie seemed like a great character to get to know but there isn't much of her that's introduced before things get going. I understand this is a novella but I would have liked to have had more time getting to know her and the people around her before everything else happened. I liked that she was stubborn and would speak up when she thought something was off.

Silas was a pretty standup guy considering he had ample opportunity to drain and/or kill her from the start. He cared for her and wanted a future with her before she even knew it was a possibility. He treated her well and made his intentions known almost from the start. Though he did, in essence, "trick" her into the bond because he never specifically stated that's what he was doing but he did ask in his way.

This proved itself to be a quick and fun read! I'm looking forward to future books by this author with the Midnight Coven.

My Favorite Quotes:

"We don't all have to be monsters just because that's what our fathers were."

"You survived and found something most creatures never get. [...] Someone who'll care for you forever."

"You thought you were getting a vampire. Instead you got a rebel prince."

Wicked Thorne
Silas & Natalie

I was supposed to start reading this but got sidetrack with a lot things in the real world. So when I decided to read I was hooked right away and I didn't realized that I'm almost done.

I love the twists, time travel and the cursed itself. I know I know this a novella but I really cant help but want more. Kim Loraine I want more you also got me curious if I have a past life, wishing I'm a witch too 😁

Oh lets not forget the intruiging Cashel I hope we'll get to have his story too ☺️

Witches, vampires and a curse - ingredients for a good read. The MCs witch Natalie and vampire Silas I liked, just wish there had been more development and intensity in how their relationship unfolded.

This was an enjoyable read overall, but I did want the secondary characters to be developed more and the world building to be more intricate. I finished reqding feeling more could have been done.

I am curious enough to want to read more in the series.

I really enjoyed the start to this new series by Kim Loraine. She’s a go-to author for me when it comes to parallel romance and she did not disappoint! I loved Silas and Natalie’s story. There were twists, turns, steamy romance, and even the curse itself was interesting. Definitely recommend.

Natalie Good is a witch, and she has been cursed. Cursed to face her darkest fear. She will either survive, or die.

Silas Black has avoided witches for the last few hundred years. So when Natalie's curse pulls him halfway around the world and straight into her path, he tries to do what's right and avoid Natalie. But he can't. Natalie's very being calls to him, her blood, her beauty, her soul. His need to keep her safe. His need to make her his.

When Natalie discovers that Silas is actually a Blackthorne, the family responsible for the decimation of Salem and her ancestors, will she be able to forgive him the part he played?

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Wicked Thorne by K. Lorraine is the opening for the Cursed Coven series. This series presented by the Midnight Coven features a group of authors who each tell a different tale. Natalie and Silas open the series with a bang. I really enjoyed this sexy quick read. The characters are wonderfully written and the storyline puts you in thrall. I could not put this book down once I started reading. Witches, vampires, curses, love, lust, danger and steamy sex... A great read that shouldn't be missed. This is a Mature Readers Only read.

Not worth the read

I has a hard time with this book. It felt forced. There is no flow to it just BAM stuff is happening and then everything's all over the place. I could literally tell this entire story in 5 mins if that. Two maybe three days pass in the book and the two don't really spend much time together and then all of a sudden it's "I love you" ??? Ummmm ok why? You don't even know each other. You haven't spent any time with each other. I get the "destined mates" idea but come on give the reader a reason to believe they could fall in love. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I'm sorry.

This is shaping up to be a great series. I initially read book 12 by Amelia Hutchins as who doesn’t love everything she writes. These can be read as stand alone stories.
I picked this one up as it’s also part of the Blackthorn Vampires series which I purchased on Audible. This one is the prequel to that series and it’s short but oh so sweet. Highly recommend this audio version as the narrators did a great job brining to life. After I finish the Blackthorn vampire series off I will be back for more from the Cursed Coven series 👌🏼

Audiobook Review

Performance: I did not enjoy Kylie’s voice. It was all one volume. Not a lot of emoting. Thankfully Aaron Shedlock can carry the narration. He is wonderful

Story: This a short action packed story with decent steam. It is a prequel, so there are a lot of unanswered questions and minimal world building but I am jumping into the series from here. It did exactly what a prequel is supposed to do get you hyped for the series.

What a great prequel novella! To get the history that Natalie and Silas shared and how Sarah’s curse actually allowed the vampires to walk in the sun. Loved it!
My gosh, the narrators were fantastic. Aaron Sherlock is an absolute gift. His accents are always incredible. Kylie Stewart gave such an emotional performance. The way her voice trembled… The two of them made the audiobook so much better than the written book. It just takes it to a whole other level.

This is a great introduction into the Blackthorne vampires. I am here after finishing The Mate Games. It has shed light on things that happen and why vampires don't like other species. Really enjoyed this and the spice is good as always.

This time period of witches and Salem witch trials that K Loraine has taken me into is one of my favorites! Natalie is a modern day witch, and upon having difficulty works with her Grandmother's pentacle. The next thing she knows, she is back in time. When she meets Silas Blackthorne, he not only is taken with her, but she to him. And the draw is strong. But why? These two have incredible chemistry, but that is not what draws me to this novella. It's the mix of real history, the flashback in time and how things were, how things are and what may happen if altered. It's an intriguing short, action packed with a few twist and in true Loraine style, incorporates that steamy passion in giving us a little of everything. I can't wait to meet the other Blackthorne vampires! For me this is just the beginning!

Loraine chooses her narrators carefully and the team of Kylie Stewart and Aaron Shedlock could not have been cast better. It's like she wrote with their voices in mind. Stewart has a fantastic voice and always draws out the innermost feelings of her characters. Shedlock nails the sexy, British vampire and draws us in with his charisma. It's a fantastic listen.

The Witch and The Vampire

Wicked Thorne is a prequel to the Blackthorne Vampires series, written by K.Loraine / Kim Loraine.

My demons are dark.
My sins are many.
And taking Natalie Good -- might be my worst offence yet.
Because I’m the very Blackthorne responsible for her ancestor’s demise. But her blood sings for me, her body calls my name, and if kissing her is sinful, Romeo was right -- give me my sin again.
I need to keep her safe -- even if she doesn’t want protection from -- a Blackthorne Vampire.

Damn!!! Kim you have once again done it, I just love your books and once again you have hit it out of the park with this one. I have enjoyed all of the Blackthorne’s we have already meet in previous books and now I have a new Blackthorne to obsess over. I really enjoyed going back in the past to see what the Blackthornes (mostly Cashel) were like.

Natalie Good is a witch that has been cursed. The curse is for her to face her darkest fear. Will she be able to survive, or die? Despite Natalie’s impressive bloodline that dates back to Salem’s original witch covens in 1692, she isn’t very powerful and her magic is not very reliable. So when the curse is put on her and she looses all her magic how will she be able to defend herself.

Silas Black has avoided Witches for a few hundred years and is in no rush to be around them anytime soon, except for one witch in particular. This curse that has him being pulled to Natalie, wanting to protect and claim her. How is he going to be able to make her his, if he is the very thing she fears?

Silas and Nat’s story was everything I could have hoped for and more, so much more. We not only got to enjoy Silas and Nat’s story we also got a little history of the Salem Witch trials of 1692. The chemistry between these two is so powerful and all consuming, the mating bond calling to each other over the different time spaces as well was so touching. Silas and Natalie fell for each other hard and fast, their attraction for each other was immediate and it was great to not have to watch them both go over and over the drama between each other.

This was such an intriguing story, that had curses, time travel, mating bonds, reincarnated souls and so much more. The flirty and fun banter between Silas and Nat was a great way to start off this book, oh I almost forgot to mention the steamy encounters. *fans self

Despite being a novella, you were able to get a full enjoyable story. This book was well written with engaging characters and plenty of drama, mystery, suspense, steamy moments and heartache.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Fascinating & Entertaining!

Wicked Thorne
Cursed Coven, Book 1
By: K. Loraine, Midnight Coven
Narrated by: Kylie Stewart, Aaron Shedlock

This is a great story and I enjoyed everything about it from K. Loraine’s wonderful writing style to the interesting & imaginative storylines and characters she created to the fantastic narration performed by Aaron Shedlock and Kylie Stewart. Natalie Good a witch with stunted magic tries to work magic with the gift her Grandmother left her, a pentacle charm, nothing happens right away but then she gets a flashback into another life. While attending a gathering of witches from other Covens another witch places a curse on everyone. Natalie finds herself somewhere else, out of it with an aching head she is saved by a mysterious British man. Silas Black finds himself in a place he never wanted to return to, he is not sure how he got there or why, he just knows he has to get out of there. That was until he saw her, Natalie, there is something about her that is drawing him to her, a sense of familiarity. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and the author does a great job incorporating real history into her story. It is a fast paced story, she did a great job fitting a lot of story and details into her novella sized book. There is never a dull moment, with plenty of drama, some angst, great twists and turns, thrilling & suspenseful moments and some hot romance. I loved the chemistry between Natalie and Silas, also loved the history behind their characters. K. Lorraine, thank you for this great story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Aaron Shedlock and Kylie Stewart are talented narrators and voice artists. They bring the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. They do a great job portraying the characters and projecting their emotions into their performance. Shoutout to Aaron’s Silas and the British accent was awesome! Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

Goodness gracious!! Kim Loraine obliterates all of my expectations with this novella! Silas and Natalie’s story was everything I could have hoped for and more. This was such an intriguing story. With the background and history of the Salem witch trials of 1692. The time jumps, the mating bond, the curse from Thea, and of course more yummy Blackthornes. I thoroughly enjoyed Natalie. How she was this shy witch who felt like she didn’t belong and when she found out about her history, why she always felt like half of herself, her confidence blossomed. And then comes Silas. Silas and Natalie’s chemistry is powerful, magical, and all-consuming. The way they fall for each other hard and fast. Like their souls were finding their missing pieces.

“You survived and found something most creatures never get.” “What’s that?” “Someone who’ll care for you forever.”

Silas...oh boy this man could bring any woman to their knees. Not only is he ungodly swoon worthy, but he’s powerful, loving, protective, and has a goodness to him that very few likely see. With Natalie, he wants to be the best version of himself. Together, they have a forever, despite what culture dictates, despite what people say is right or wrong.

“My witch has claimed me, heart and sin-stained soul.”

This story, this couple, everything about this book was certainly claimed my soul. If I could give this novella infinite stars I would, because it was that good.

Natalie Good’s efforts with magic are hit and miss at best despite an impressive bloodline that dates back to Salem, Massachusetts. When Natalie first meets Silas Black, their attraction is immediate and intense – with neither knowing who, or what the other is. I enjoyed their early interactions, their fun and flirty banter and their very steamy encounters. I liked the author’s perspective on the Salem witch trials of 1692. I thought it was a very interesting and clever take on those events. Despite being a quick read, this is a well written paranormal romance with engaging characters and features plenty of magic, action, drama, mystery and suspense. I found the story quite entertaining, including the historical aspects.

This is a great start to a new series by the Midnight Coven. I loved reading every second of this story. I couldn't put it down when I started.

Natalie has finally gained the courage to do the spell that her grandmother left her. As a witch, she can do many things but has always felt like something is missing. She is cursed by another witch which ends up being the best thing to happen to her. Silas Black has been pulled from his home and meet a strange woman. He is drawn to her and is unsure why at first. He is a vampire and should stay away from witches. He is surprised to discover that they are mates. When they are pulled back in time, they must figure out how to make it back to their time without messing up the past. Will they be able to get back to their own time?

Another Vampire Novella, yes please! K. Loraine has created a world that sucks you in and doesn't let go. Wicked Thorne is either an introduction to The Blackthorne Vampires or a welcomed returned. This novella tells the tale of Natalie, a witch with a bloodline that dates back to the dark days in Salem. When a curse takes her back to her ancestors, it also unexpectedly inserts a devilishly handsome vampire.

Silas Blackthorne is ready to right his wrongs, but he wasn't ready for Natalie. Together they must face their worst fears to break the curse but hopefully not break each other. It was the perfect mix of witches, vampires, time travel and happily ever after.

A fantastic start to a new series...

Wicked Thorne is the first book of the new Cursed Coven series which tells the stories of thirteen witches cursed at the one place they should have been safe.
The storyline is well written and includes the history of the witch trials in Salem in 1692. The characters of Silas and Natalie are well developed and have amazing chemistry together. The story includes time travel, curses, drama, some humour, mystery, suspense, and a steamy romance.
I loved this book and cannot wait for the next in this series.

Natalie is a witch and Silas is a vampire whose family caused the Salem witch trials. We have curses and time travel mixed in with hidden identities to create a complex and interesting story. Silas is a great hero, kind and protective unlike the rest of his family, the Blackthornes. Natalie grows in the story from an unsure witch who doesn';t fit in to one that has the courage to do the spell her grandmother left her and accept Silas as her mate even though he is a Blackthorne.
