The love that remains…

Kivia Quigley never expected to be the mother-in-law to an eight-foot-tall pink alien, but she's not complaining. The widow is more than happy to have some joy in her family's life, for a change.

And when she meets Dr. Mafer H'looder, a brilliant Veraci scientist, she realizes that, despite their drastic physiological differences, they have a lot more in common than just being able to speak each other's languages.

Like grief, longing, and loneliness.

And a greedy, megalomaniacal psychopath determined to get what he wants out of both of them.

(Book 3 in the Maxim Colonies series.)

Lesli Richardson is the writer behind the curtain of her better-known and more prolific USA Today Bestselling Author pen name, Tymber Dalton (her "wild child" side). She lives in the Tampa Bay region of Florida with her spouse and too many pets of various species. When she's not playing D&D with her friends or shooting skeet, she's a part-time Viking shield-maiden in training, among other pursuits. The two-time EPIC award winner is also the author of over two hundred and fifty books and counting.

She lives in her own little world, but it's okay, because they all know her there.

She also loves to hear from readers! Please check out her website for links, and to sign up for updates to keep abreast of the latest news, snarkage, and releases. There you'll also find reading order lists, and more information about her different series.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book.
We get to meet Dr H'looder in the 2 previous books. He's the brilliant scientist who's able to help Simon/Morhn then Davies/Olarte. But I never expected him to get a book!!!
He's older and kind of creepy looking (the cover image isn't very good) with 4 hands and really squishy body. I didn't ever think of him as a sexual being so it was a shock when feelings develop between him and Simon's mom Kivia.

The most surprising aspect was the and Kivia is all into that.

This took a bit of a different turn than the other of the series. It starts out later than the other two books and gives a bit of a glimpse into the lives of the main characters of the first two books after their epilogues. I liked that, and tbh wanted more of it than this book gave me.

The dynamics between these main characters is very different as well - not only because a different kind of alien is involved, but also because they are kinky, as in having a D/s dynamic. They are just as horny, though.

The plot this time around was very flimsy and transparent, and to me was the most boring out of all the books.

I also admit I was a bit bored by how every single different in human and alien physiology was pretty much instantly solved with "bionanotechnology". I would have much preferred them to work it out themselves without overpowered SciFi tech.

There was a cool side character introduced, but nothing was done with them.

Grammar was once again better than in the first book, but I also once again was driven mad by the slow pace of the characters' thoughts. I ended up skimming a lot of the book.

Save to say I do not vibe with the author's writing style, which is a shame because I liked some of the worldbuilding and plot ideas in this series.

Delightful sexy escapism

This is I think the third book in this series but it's sweet East romance with a great deal of alien mad scientist kink is delightful and could easily stand alone. It's a greatly amusing and sexy distraction from the stress of the world as it is today. 4/20. . . I haven't met Lesli Richardson or Tymber Dalton novel I didn't like but this one was pure fun with minimal drama to drive plot, and no major disagreements or misunderstanding between the hero and heroine. It's just delightful.

"It's always the quiet ones" never rang so true! Dr. L'Hooder is a kind and brilliant scientist who has dedicated himself to helping others, with great success. Don't let his fragile exterior and unassuming personality fool you- there's more to the doctor than meets the eye. In this third installment of the Maxim Colonies series, we learn more about his past and his culture, as he uses technology designed to help others to help himself. We a=e also introduced to another cross-cultural, inter-species love match, with surprising results.

Love has no bounds

I loved this book. Kivia and Mafer fall in love and overcome many of the physiological differences in their bodies in order to show that love to each other. They are different species of people and they show that love can conquer all, including a crazy man from the past. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about love on a different level than what is considered normal“ in society. Thank you Lesli Richardson for showing that diversity can work.

DNF @44% I'm not much for m/f romance these days, but I thought I'd give this one a try because I was enjoying the series-world and was super intrigued to find out how sex would be handled with the oh-so-fragile alien race. Unfortunately, I just wasn't that into the way it was playing out, so I finally gave up.

I was excited for this book. But after it all, I felt there was some things lacking by the end. I wish there was more interaction with K's kids or maybe the villains plan would have been more suspenseful. It just felt a bit rushed at the end for my taste compared to the other two of her books in this series.

This book just felt too rushed, too short, not descriptive enough at times.

Loved it, Mafer seemed kind in all the other books but this book makes him awesomely wicked in a good way towards Kivia.
