I think perhaps Sean Michael is growing on me…
This for sure was certainly creeptastic as the gang (a group of 5 gay friends who ghost hunt) is hired to not only confirm there’s a haunted house but also do an exorcism. When cameraman Will meets Payne, their meeting is literally electric upon touch (just like Finn and Blaine) but where things rolled smoothly for the former duo, these two get off on the wrong foot immediately. Is the animosity and chemistry that off? Or are they being influenced by not so nice spirits that won’t leave Payne, nor his ancestral home alone?
Like the first book, make note that there were some good tense moments, there were some disturbing discoveries and definitely, there were a couple of holy shit scaries. This also had insta-lust that progressed to insta-love in a matter of days especially once Will and Payne get over themselves and realize that their hostile thoughts just might not be truly their own.
Seeing as how I thought The Supers
was just quirky odd in mostly dialogue and pacing and thus, not reading very smoothly to me, this second foray into Michael, was a lot better. Ever present is his unique writing style and word choice, and though not as obvious, transitions and figuring out who was who was still a tad cumbersome.
Overall, this excels mostly on the horror as it focused on the classic crazy scary basement no one wants to descend into but must. The romance, though perhaps improbable in lightening quick progression, still had some decent smexy. So if you like that, and you like some fear and anxiety and omg-that-just-didn't-happen with your spooky novels, then be reassured that this delivers!

I’m really digging this series. I wouldn’t read them for the romance, because that was a bit meh in both books. But the creepiness factor was very well done and I was regretting my decision to read this at night while I was home alone.
We met the ‘Supers’ in the previous book as a bunch of twenty something friends who are all interested in the paranormal, with Blaine as their one real medium. These guys got pretty spooked in the last book when they were investigating an abandoned hospital, and are now trying to see if they can film some more hauntings so their television show can start off for real. (This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone, so no worries if you haven’t read the first book.)
Payne has inherited a mansion from his father, and he’s been hiring people to restore the place for quite a while. But it is only since he’s been living there these last few months that strange things started happening. He didn’t believe in ghosts, but after moving in, he definitely does. These ghosts are not exactly subtle, so it’s not like he can miss something like books flying (and knocking him out!), or all the cups trying to fly out of the cupboards.
And that’s why he hires The Supers. He has heard some good things about them and hopes they can get rid of the ghosts.
Will is the cameraman of the ragtag ghosthunters crew. He is a very laid back person, normally. But for some reason as soon as he sets foot in the house Payne MacGregor lives in, he feels angry. Angry at Payne to be exact.
After a few run-ins with Will, Payne isn’t so sure he did the right thing by hiring the Supers, but when they all leave the house, it becomes clear the house influences them all. Will doesn’t feel angry at Payne anymore and actually notices how cute the man is.
When the two get locked up in the bedroom of the mansion for an entire day, they both find out just how attracted they are to each other… Now all they need to do is fix the ghost problem….
This was just the right amount of creepy. I love me a good ghost story and this one hit the spot.
As in the first book there is not a whole lot of character development and the romance was decent, but not had the wow factor. I didn’t mind so much since I expected that after having read the first book. I mean, I read this for the ghosts. And they delivered big time. I was seriously creeped out a couple of times. But it’s not like this was pure horror or anything. Just the right amount of scary to keep me entertained.
If you like ghost stories with a dash of romance (well, it was a bit more than a dash, but wasn't front center), this is the book for you.

The Librarian's Ghost follows the spooky adventures of the group knows as the Supers—a ragtag bunch of twenty-something friends who want to make a career out of their ghost hunting exploits.
Picking up shortly after the events that took place in book one (The Supers), this sequel proved to be sexier and definitely spookier than its predecessor.
This time around, the Supers are dealing with what seems to be a mass haunting, when they are called to help a young librarian, by the name of Payne McGregor, to deal with his ghostly problems in his recently inherited centuries-old family mansion.
Cameraman Will gets off to a rocky start when the group meet Payne, but it soon becomes apparent that the house itself may be having a negative affect on both Will and Payne’s moods, because when push comes to shove, these two actually share a very intense and instant attraction that even an unfortunate and potentially deadly haunting can’t keep at bay.
As is the norm for me when reading a story by Sean Michael, I continue to struggle with the awkward dialogue of his characters. Having said that, this particular experience was my least problematic and bothersome of all my Michael experiences to date, so I’ve either become more immune to his style or this was a noticeable improvement where the dialogue and word choice was concerned. Either way, I’ll take it.
When it comes to the paranormal plot, I feel this series is fairly impressive in its level of spookiness. There was this one scene, with a creepy eye staring through a keyhole, that legitimately gave me chills and will undoubtedly stay on my mind indefinitely. So, points for the sufficient chill-factor.
When it comes to the romance, everything was pretty smooth sailing and semi-insta-lovish in progression. I didn’t mind this, as it suited the story at hand with all the intense and scary situations these guys were thrown into during their unorthodox courtship.
Whether Michael continues this series (now it’s no longer a part of the original Dreamspun Beyond line through DSP) is unknown, but I actually like this group of ghost hunting buddies enough to return for more should he ever decide to give these guys a new spook-tastic adventure.

A librarian who inherited and lovingly restored an old house that has been in his family for several generations, the five gay ghost hunters who were introduced in the first book of the series, and some super-strange, potentially dangerous ghosts make for very suspenseful and somewhat creepy reading. The supernatural events are definitely unusual, so much so, that the professional group of Supernatural Explorers is stumped for quite a while. Some things seem obvious, and there were no huge shockers hiding in the plot, but the solution is not quite as straightforward as it might seem. Nicely done twist there at the end!

The Supernatural Explorers have been striking out on hauntings since their experience at the hospital in the first book, The Supers. They are still trying to get a television show and need another real haunting to make things work. They get hired by a man who needs help. Payne is a librarian and researcher, who inherited a house that he's been renovating. Unfortunately, the crazy things happening in the house are making it hard for him to live there. He's hoping that these ghost hunters can do something about the phenomena that he's been living with.
Will is the cameraman of the team. Normally, he's easygoing about most things. However, something about Payne rubs him wrong when they meet and he is a complete jerk. So much so that the rest of the team wonders what is going on with him. Payne doesn't know why one of the crew is being so hard on him and is wondering if he made a mistake hiring them. A haunted house, a ghost hunting team, and two guys who normally would be highly attracted to each other, what could go wrong?
The creepiness of the house and the way that Payne is clearly being influenced by an entity was really good. I found it interesting how much Will was influenced as well. When a ghost locks them into a room together, they really did a good job of burying their initial interactions and got to know each other. The romance is fast moving, happening within a few days due to the intense situation. In some ways, the romance takes a backseat to the investigation of the house and its ghost problem. I found Payne to be much braver than I would have been considering everything. I think that he and Will have a foundation that they can build on and hope to see them in a future book in this series.
I enjoyed this book a bit more than the first one. While this is the second book in the series, I think you could probably read this one as a standalone.

Oh my, where do I begin?
The Empire of Boredom. The only chance is to skip, skip, and skip again.
Pages after pages of tedious blabbering between the two MCs about nothing.
If I wanna read a book about flirting and blabbering (and I don't wanna to), I don't pick up a book who's supposed to be about ghosts.
The ghosts. Where are they? Did I miss something? Ah yeah, they make a brief appearance (in a manner of speaking) at the end.
Really, what was the editor of this book doing, while he/she was supposed to edit this mess?
Sleeping? Dancing? Watching TV?
And mostly, I think it doesn't make sense to write a book that is for 95% made of dialogues.
In this way, this is not a book, but a screenplay. And not a good one.

This is exactly what it advertises itself to be. There is a haunting, there is a gay love story, there is ghost investigation and drama.
I did not like the spicy scenes as much as I would want to, so 4 stars instead of 5 - still fun though!

I was planning to enjoy a cheesy comedy of horrors but was pleasantly surprised by a couple of literary jump scares and the hidden depths of the main characters.

I think that I enjoyed the haunting a bit more than I did the relationship in this one. But even with that, it's only that I didn't quite like how the relationship started off well but then had to be rushed at the end simply because the ghost stuff was done.
It's been a little bit since the first book and the ghost hunting thing has been going alright, but the guys have only done a few jobs where they debunked instead of helped with actual hauntings. They need a real haunting to land the show and they get a call for the old mansion nearby from its most recent resident. The mansion has some wild history and now it looks like the ghosts are out to make life miserable for the newest resident, a descendant of the original home owner. The team head out to investigate but soon find not only are there multiple entities, but this is the same type of invasive haunting as they experienced before, but now its effecting more than just Flynn and Blaine.
Will and Payne were a good couple and had the right time to really figure each other out. The odd spark of dislike at the beginning is so strong and it takes them a bit to work around, which makes it confusing. Then they move to being interested to almost desperate. It is clear that the haunting is manipulating them, so figuring out their real feelings in this is difficult, as neither wants to either hate or like each other from an outside influence. The nice part was that time was given to really let the two be together and get to know each other (even though it was in a weird, time warp-ish, vaguely threatening situation). This really gave the time for the relationship to develop without the influence or threat of the haunting going on.
The haunting was very creepy and really well done. There is some major history for this mansion and it all builds into the haunting that is going on. Figuring out who the entities are and what they all want makes a big difference in how the whole thing goes down. It had the right elements of creeping dread, as well as big moments of rapid action and fear for immediate harm. It was a good balance and it all served to make just the right atmosphere for the book.
The only part that felt rushed was the end of the book. As the job at the house had been resolved it was as though it was decided that everything about the relationship had to be resolved right then as well. This caused a leap forward that it didn't really feel true to where the characters were, which sort of soured the ending to the book.

it's the first of October and a great time to be reading books about ghosts and stuff. The Librarian's Ghost is an intriguing read with just enough chills and thrills.
The MacGregor Mansion has been rumored to be haunted for a long time. It has been sitting empty waiting for its next heir. Only a male heir gets the house and Payne McGregor is the last male heir.
The original owner was rumored to be evil and mean and mistreat his slaves. Many died of hunger and cold in the basement rooms and a fire took out many more.
When Payne moves in after two years of renovations he noticed lots of strange happenings. Some aggravating some destructive but now some are getting dangerous. He has tried everything from mediums, cleansers and other groups that claimed to help to no Avail. his last chance is the Supers, a ragtag group of 20 something men that have solved a few cases and hope to get a TV show.
As soon as they enter Will a usual nice man gets angry and hateful against Payne and Payne feels the same. It is apparent the house is controlling moods.
The actual ghost story part was pretty good. there were some chilling facts and scary happenings. I liked that though there was some violence it was like a book lobbing at the head, being pushed down stairs, nothing real gruesome. You can read this one without reading the first as there is plenty of backstories.
The romance is sweet, hot and Ok but I would have liked a bit more towards the end it felt so rushed and a bit incomplete. Having said this, I enjoyed the book and look forward to more in the series.

The "Supers" finally get a job that may actually have a ghost involved. They need a good haunting in order for them to have a episode on TV. Will is the camera man and the others are Blaine, the medium, Jason the leader, Flynn is Blaine's boyfriend and last there is Darnell. Payne inherited a house that existed in the seventeen hundreds and his distant grandpa was cruel and evil and many of his workers lost their lives in the worst ways possible. Now he finds he is haunted. Flying objects, getting locked in his room, broken items, missing items and don't even talk about the basement. Finally getting his home remodelled he finds the spirit activity increases and becomes really dangerous. Calling on the Supers, the group arrives to find an evil haunting and danger in every corner, finally they need to get into the basement, but can they? Payne can't go near the door as he blanks out or passes out. Will they be able to solve the mystery of this house or he have to leave the only place he has to live. He can't sell it as it is written into the will that he can't. A particularly spooky story that is well worth reading.

Book 2 in the series and I enjoyed this one a bit more I think. I thought the ghosts were much scarier and the whole scenario at the house was scarier and added more tension. I'm not sure I liked Will all that much, but I like Payne a great deal although if that was my house, I would have been long gone. Still, it was a good ghost story to read around Halloween although it doesn't take place at Halloween.

Cute love story (with some steamy scenes!) with a ghostly twist.
I would have liked a bit more backstory on the ghosts, but it was a fun read! I will definitely check out another of the Supers series.

It’s been so long since I read the first book in the series, I had forgotten a lot of the prior details. I wanted to like this one more then I did. I felt a lot was left unexplained but I guess that’s ghost hunting for you. It’s not a bad book by any means.

Read for the category a ghost story. Read More! 2019 Reading Challenge. Haunted mansion hijinks (I just wanted to write that). Overall a solid, spooky story.

Giving this author another chance. This was far better than the other book of his I read (including good creepy bits!) but the dialogue and chemistry is still ... well... stilted.

A good Ghost story
The Supers get another call due to the success of their first TV episode. As they visit the property and it's occupant, a sweet librarian, things start to get real.
Again, another immensely readable paranormal romance from the dreamspun beyond series. Sean Michael writes in both this series and the dreamspun desires series (the teddy bear club) and holds his own amongst so many great m/m writers.
I did think there could be a little bit more attention given to the history of the ghosts and a wrap up at the end about what happened to them, as there were some holes for me in that part of the story. Whereas the focus at that time was on the main characters and the romance, it didn't detract from the story, and the ending was good, it is just the difference between a good story and an amazing one.

A librarian who inherited and lovingly restored an old house that has been in his family for several generations, the five gay ghost hunters who were introduced in the first book of the series, and some super-strange, potentially dangerous ghosts make for very suspenseful and somewhat creepy reading. The supernatural events are definitely unusual, so much so, that the professional group of Supernatural Explorers is stumped for quite a while. Some things seem obvious, and there were no huge shockers hiding in the plot, but the solution is not quite as straightforward as it might seem. Nicely done twist there at the end!

'Super' read!
Another great read from Sean Michael! Loved Blaine's story, but I loved Will's just as much!
And the ghosties!! Sets a great atmosphere for the whole story!

The Supernatural Explorers are back with a new case.
Payne MacGregor had inherited the family manor. The family manor that passes between the MacGregor men. Payne invested everything he had to remodel the manor but unnatural things happen, and Payne calls the Supers to help him with his ghost problem.
He didn’t expect to meet Will, the cameraman of the team and who seems to dislike Payne on sight.
But what or who haunts this house decided otherwise, and Will and Payne would have to work their differences out if they want to stay alive. The Librarian’s Ghost by Sean Michael is book 2 of the Supers series.
This book was good, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Will is the cameraman of the team and the more skeptic about ghosts. He does believe in it, but only because he witnessed unnatural things and because of what happened to Blaine and Flynn (The Supers book 1). With his biker look, Will seems to be rude, and his first meeting with Payne doesn’t help him, and he acts like a big class A asshole. Even if things are tense between them, Will wants Payne and tries his best to make him forget their first meeting.
Payne is a librarian; he’s shy and a little bit of a hermit. He’s completely exhausted because of the inhabitants of his house, his supernatural roommates, who make his days and nights a nightmare. When he calls The Supernatural Explorers, he doesn’t know what to expect from them but certainly not Will’s rudeness and sexiness too. Despite a rough beginning, Payne will find more than answers about his house.
I loved Payne and Will, they are adorable, different but complementary. Will looks like a rough biker, but he’s very sensitive and protective of Payne. Payne looks like a boring librarian, but with a wild side. I completely melted for them; they are adorable, funny and very hot.
I loved the book and the plots. Yes, plots—plural. The main plot is about the investigation in the haunted manor. It’s was creepy and spooky, exactly what I expected from this book.
The second plot is about Will and Payne’s love story. It’s an insta-love but that didn’t bother me because it was well done and sweet and hot.
It’s a good book to read during this autumnal season, and even if it’s part of the Supers series, this book can be read as a standalone.
It’s 4 OptimuMMS for me.
