I have given three stars to this book . Always a well written story by this author but this one did fall a bit short after the others I have read. Characters not as interesting but in saying that it was good to see Eric's wife more featured as Anne is a integral part of Eric's life. All in all I enjoyed the book as just so love the life of early research by the means of foot slogging and common sense.
I like all the Eric Ward mysteries. In this one former policeman turned lawyer with failing eyesight tackles organized crime. The targets are people who needed money so went to loan sharks. One in particular is featured. Alongside the action here is another story about the kidnap of a wealthy man's granddaughter. Eric Ward is smart about it. He knows the grandfather is not being forthcoming. There is something more at work here. I enjoyed the slow methodical way Eric Ward figures it out.
As this solidly enjoyable series continues, both the plots and depth of characterisation deepen, which makes them an increasingly absorbing read. The emotional complications in this chapter were equalled by the twists and turns of the plot. A really good read.
Intriguing, heart stopping plot like the others in this series. Entertaining mix of characters. Holds your interest . Will look forward to more of this author.
Eric Ward is aiming to get evidence against loan shark Sam Turriff but everyone is too scared to help. Meanwhile the granddaughter of wealthy business man Liam Geraghty is kidnapped. An entertaining modern mystery. Originally published in 1985
Great characters and a very entertaining plot which kept me reading late in the night. Hope to see more books in this series. Have enjoyed all the books featuring Eric and Anne.
