This is how you do a one-shot tie-in, managed to tell a lot more with a couple of stories than many limited series did in the past with full five-issue runs.

Going into this for some reason I felt like it wouldn’t be good. But I was wrong. This was a good tie in. Cap, Spidey, Thing and wolverine working together on the east coast and Hawkeye on a solo run on the west coast. Both seemed to accomplish their mission and will all meet up in Venom #19. I liked how they pulled small elements from the Hawkeye Matt Fraction run. Like how they showed the different arrows he was using and some of the things he would say.

What a disappointing read. I was excited to read this companion to the Absolute Carnage series but there just wasn’t a good enough plot in this one-shot that wasn’t already covered by AC. Everything felt forced in NYC and Hawkeye’s solo adventure in SF was lacklustre as well.

You can miss this one unless you want to see how 4 experienced heroes team-up in a predictable way and if you’re a diehard Hawkeye fan.

For a tie-in, it did a really good job of addressing where Hawkeye came in and everything that happened off screen with him and the Avengers during the build up to the last issues of Absolute Carnage.
