Periwinkle Perkins is determined to become an independent woman. After the death of her father and departure of her sister Prim, Peri knows that she can’t live off the generosity of her aunt forever. Tasked with caring for her invalid mother while her older sister tries to establish a new home for them as a mail-order bride, Peri sets out to find the money her recently deceased father has hidden. If she can only find Pa’s stash Periwinkle can take her mother to Needful Texas to join her sister and set up a home of her own. Always a hopeless romantic before Peri now wishes only for the security of a steady income to provide for her mother, but will she find the funds she needs or be stranded while her sister seeks a man who is willing to accept a fully formed family? Desperate times called for desperate measure and Peri know she is up to the task.
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
Peri is Prim's younger sister. Peri was able to find their father's stash of moonshine money, so she packed up her and her mother and made the trip to Needful to see Prim. Peri had no intentions of going there to find a husband. She had more than enough money left after giving some to Aunt Becky and paying for the trip. She would be a self sufficient woman. Little did she know her heart would have other ideas 😉
Bartholomew is a very large and burly man who goes by Bear, and lives pretty much in isolation. He is a man living with a broken heart and has lost all his will to live life to the fullest. Until he meets Miss Periwinkle ❤️
Great story, although, still so many typos. But I loved the interaction between Peri and Bear.
This is book three in the Needful Texas series. You can read this independently as the author gives you enough of everyone’s past to not make you feel lost. But if you have the opportunity to read these in order you will begin to know and love these characters that have been so lovingly made up for us to know!
This story didn’t transform like I had figured it would, the author gave me a good shock at how the story unfolded. Wonderfully written and a bit different from the other two books, which makes the series stay fresh and intresting.
You won’t regret time spent reading this book. And I can honestly recommend this series to any of my advanced reading preteen or any if my friends that want a nice story with no curse words or violence etc.
So Prim gets the gentleman in the suit and Peri gets a long haired, long bearded, trapper. Cute story but a bit rushed and short. Not as much development time for these characters as in the previous books. I was really surprised Bear didn’t shave or get a haircut to get married. Maybe the author was in such a hurry to end the book she couldn’t find the time to write that. At least he is a lawyer in disguise that can make fine furniture!😉 I am enjoying this series but gee I paid money for this short quick book. Yea
Very moving story revealing more about the Perkins family and the community/ town of Needful Texas. Emphasis of this book is on the fact that "bad things happen to good people all the time. " You'll enjoy learning how Peri and Bear and others deal with the "bad happenings" in their lives at this time - with the help of God of course!
I loved Per’s gumption and spirit. Also enjoyed Peri and Prim’s mom and got a kick out of her communicating by humming various hymns and songs. Found her character very unique.
Peri lived with her mother, who had been injured and was no longer able to take care of herself. They had a difficult life. Period remember the days when her father had been a moonshiner in the Tennessee mountains. Peri knew that he buried his money from the sale of moonshine near his the cabin where he produced the moonshine. Times were tough and Peri remembered the stories he told and she decided to go to his cabin and stay there until she found his stash of money. By the time she found his stash the area around his cabin was pock marked with holes she had dug. He had buried his treasure next to the outhouse.
Peri decided to take her mother to Needful, Texas, where her sister, Prim, lived. The story continues with events in Texas. Don't miss the excitement!
A fantastic, wonderful story by Ms. Roan. Brilliant this one is.
I really loved this third book in the Brides Of Needful Texas series. This one had really both wonderful and loving hero and heroine. Plus getting to revisit the other characters we knew from before. That is one thing I really love about series. I loved that this story had Peri, Prim's younger sister and her mother who was kicked in the head by a cow and also had a stroke, move to Needful and Peri being the fun and spunky one who sometimes could be bit overwhelming to some who didn't know her yet, find the perfect, yet most unusual man so opposite of what she thought she wanted right there. She started falling in love with this big, burly man called Bear because he looked like one big grizzly to most. Peri had wanted a rich man who would buy her a nice big house, give her expensive things and take her out to restaurants. He was a loner who lived in the woods, making beautiful furniture for the new people coming to town who would need it sooner or later when more women came and more wed. This has some tough spots in the story that were sort of hard to read and might make you shed a few tears, but we're needed, and lots of laughter and love in the air. This is one really good story but the two before this story are also, so read them in order for everything to make sense. I highly recommend this series with more books to come. I really love this series and it's Christian references and lots of inspiration for those of us that really need it, and a momma who dat talk anymore from her stroke, who loves to rock and hum hymns.
I have certainly enjoyed the time I have spent in the lives of these wonderful people and the perils they have encountered and overcome during these stories. Thanks for writing them.
Periwinkle Perkins, Prim's younger, sister is a corker. She is hard working and cares deeply for their Mother. She doesn't give up on finding her fathers stashed money from his moonshine making. This gives her and their Mother the chance to make it to Needful, Texas to join her sister. She surprises Prim and arrives with their Mother before Prim is married to Anderson Bowlings. What a surprise to find them on the first stage arriving in Needful! Peri and their mother are asked to live with Prim and Anderson. They will do so but Peri still feels obligated to work and save her income. Upon meeting Bear she is enthralled by the large man. He is quite the Man's Man. Author Danni Roan wrote a mesmerizing book in Peri: A Needful Bride. I was so engrossed in this storyline that I read this book in one day. The book is well-written with some twists and turns that I was not expecting. I thought the characters were placed so well and the romance and mystery was just right. I enjoyed reading this fantastic book and I recommend others to read Peri: A Needful Bride By Author Danni Roan.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
Danni Roan gives us an interesting story line and characters. Periwinkle is a delight. She wants to be independent and take care of her family. Bear is certainly not what she expected. I look forward to finding out who she and Olive bring to Bend as brides. This is a good addition to the series.
Another great Needful Bride book! The characters are so wonderful, they help each other when in need. I loved Peri’s sassy and energetic nature, and Bears big tough personality. A great romance with unexpected events that had me gasp in surprise. I’m hoping for more books in this series, great series and can be read as stand alone too. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Bartholomew/Bear- woodworkers and trapper some what of a recluse Peri- strong and resourceful willing to do what needs to be done also has a heart of gold I enjoyed reading this captivating story that is fantastically written with charismatic characters. Their story has a wonderfully sweet HEA.
The spirited sister finds her way to Needful and decides to fix what's needed. Along the way life intervenes and she finds where her heart belongs. A well written saga of love and faith.
Thank You, Danni Roan, Peri was looking for a man with money who could take care of her, she had nothing all her life. She met Bear and they took care of each other. Then fell in love.
I just love to read about Needful and it's people. A group of strangers who become family while trying to build their dream. This story has both love and loss. Peri is a breath of fresh air for Bear. Peri finds everything she needs.
This is a sweet, adventurous and exciting love story written by Danni Roan. She has done an exceptional job with the plot and the characters, both new and reoccurring ones. You will enjoy discovering how Bear and Peri discover their happily ever after.
