Long Ghost

Rate this book
Ska and Eli, once childhood sweethearts, traveled very different paths after high school. Eli became a decorated Navy SEAL and Ska became a meth addict and a sex slave to her depraved drug dealer. With help, Ska escaped the world of drug use and rebuilt her life. When her dealer is released from prison years later, he comes after Ska, believing her to be responsible for his brother's death. He vows to rebuild a drug empire on the reservation and kill Ska.

Eli and his friend, Matthew Wolf Steel, have a different plan in mind and the action gets wild as the two SEALS face the dark, violent adversary. During the course of the adventure, Ska and Eli are drawn together, and the sparks fly.

I am new to writing romance, though I have written professionally in the media world for over 15 years. My first published novel, Searching for Honor, went to #1 on the entire Amazon KindleWorlds network and held the position for three weeks.

When I'm not writing I am spending most of my time with family. With two children and two grandchildren my life is hopping.

I just celebrated my 40th wedding anniversary.

Best Friends to Lovers!

Long Ghost: Fantastic story, great writing and romance. I loved that Eli and Ska were perfect for each other. I love that he would do anything for her. Great suspense and surprises. I really enjoyed the book.

I have been curious about Ska ever since she was mentioned in Rainhorse and I was happy to learn that Jacobson had planned for her to have her own story told. *Fair warning* Jacobson includes a prologue which shares the details of Ska’s tragic spiral that explains how she ended up where she did in Rainhorse and how she met Lindsay. She has a rough background and hits rock bottom after the horrendous experience but soon we are able to see the amazing transformation and accomplishments Ska has made with her life. Aside from giving the reader Ska’s background, this book is also about a love never explored by two young people on different paths in life but after many years are reconnecting and getting a second chance at happiness if she and Eli can survive the dangers from her past.

We also get to briefly revisit with Lindsay, Agent Andrews, and a few other characters from the series, as well as enjoy an appearance from Wolf (Matthew Steel) from the crossover connection to Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha series, when he steps in to help Ska and Eli out of a jam. And yes, even Rainhorse has a minor appearance in the story. And at the end of the book Jacobson also shares an intriguing glimpse of what is to come in the next story and I have to say my curiosity is really piqued.

Long Ghost can be read as a stand-alone but it does lightly intertwine with the Rainhorse saga. People and events are mentioned that cross over between the two but Jacobson seamlessly fills in the background information so the reader can easily follow along without feeling lost. The storyline is well-written with detailed events, a flowing timeline, engaging characters, and an engrossing plot and includes a sweet romance with a HEA.

If you are a fan of the Rainhorse Saga, then you definitely want to add this one to your reading list.

Long Ghost: Special Forces Operation Alpha is by Jesse Jacobson. This book is interesting and it includes many of the members on my address book. The book keeps you reading so you can finish it. The book is easy to read so it doesn’t take much time out to read.
Eight years before the book begins, Ska worked at the diner and everyone knew she was on meth. She looked awful and felt the effects of the drugs immediately. She did manage to keep her job at the diner; but I have no idea how. This time, her dealer came to the diner and informed her that he was turning her over to his brother whom she hated. In exchange for getting drugs, she was forced to the bathroom to have sex with him. Instead, she ended up being beaten and raped by both brothers. That was the end for her, after this, she, with Lindsay Vanderbilt’s help, managed to get of drugs and get well. However, she never told anyone about the offensive treatment she received.
She is waiting for her friend, Eli, to arrive. They have known each other since middle school and they are ready to see if there is something between them. They take it slow because he knows she was hurt. She is being stalked and watched so Eli and his friend Wolf go visit Johnny and his boss to impress upon him to leave her alone. Will their persuasion help?

An explosive read

Wow. I love Jesse's Rainhorse books and was excited to read all about Ska, the sad girl Lindsey befriended and helped in the earlier books. Tissues were at the ready as I read her back story and it's a complete sad one. The issues happen so much to so many people in this day and age and brings it back to use when we read it in books. Ska, dependant on drugs is in love with Eli but wants him to persue his career as a navy seal so she lets him go. Her addiction making her need her drug of life more than the man she loves. After a very emotional bad thing her dealers did we arrive some years later where she is now divorced and has a son but there is upheaval and danger in the horizon as the the bad man accuses her of killing his brother. With the help of Eli and Matthew "wolf" Steel they are tasked with safeguarding Ska. The heat definitely hits up as Eli and Wolf face off with the man who caused so much pain. Will everyone get out alive? An emotionally charged story and I am so glad the author decided to write about Ska. I can wait for the next one with Wolf. Well done on a fantastic continuation of the Rainhorse universe

Just when I thought Jesse couldn't get and better she brings us Long Ghost. This is the story of Ska and Eli. The road for these two have been quite different. Ska's story is filled with drugs and is just heartbreaking. What she goes thru before she gets clean is awful. Eli and wolf come for a visit and find out her drug dealer is coming after her. This book has action also. Then the ending oh boy what will Wolf and Rainhorse get themselves into next I can hardly wait! Great job Jesse. I received this book for an honest review.

I was introduced to Ska Long Ghost in the book Rainhorse. Even though she wasn't the main character I was curious about her life. I know that towards the end of the book and the book Good Samaritan she was well on her way to a good life. This book goes back to show us her life before with her first love and the horrific things that happened to her. I was glad to see her first love back and for them to reconnect. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who is looking for something new to read.

INTENSE DRAMA WITH A SURPRISING ENDING

Ska and Eli, childhood friends , reconnect after many years of separation. Ska, a former addict, not only has kicked her habit but has gone through rigorous training to make herself physically fit. She hears the her former supplier is out of prison and now fears for her life. When Eli comes to visit, he and his friend, both Navy Seals, meet with a FBI agent with a plan to protect her. What follows next is a fast moving, action packed adventure; a very intense search and finally confrontation to find this criminal and his men.

You are not your past

The trauma and back story is very graphic, not a problem just a warning. The love between Ska and Eli has been on the back burner for a long time, neither were ready before but now they can embrace it fully and it is such a pure love, it brings a tear to your eye.
I do have a grumble - the hand to hand combat scene is almost word for word exactly the same as the one in Fighting for Honor which is disappointing, hence the four stars not five. Other than that another good book available on Kindle Unlimited

Eli has always loved Ska. His goal was to become a Navy Seal and he accomplished it. Wolf trained him.
Ska was the homecoming queen in school. She was popular and beautiful. Then she got hooked on meth. Lindsay saved her. Now she is holding down a job and going to school. She is also a mom.
Eli is back and things are going great. That is until her life is threatened. Can Eli and Wolf stop the threat?

I loved reading about Ska's story! Ska went through so much and yet ended up being a great character. Ska was in the Rainhorse stories and although you got bits and pieces it was great to get the full story. Eli was also a great character and I really loved how he was with Ska even when she was at her lowest. Some action and some steam. Trigger warning for rape. Also it was great to have Wolf cross into this story by Jesse. Loved it!!

My heart broke for all Ska went thru. So much of her background could be true for a lot of Native Americans today. She went thru hell but come out on the other side. She has her son now and putting her life back together. Eli comes home on leave with Wolf for fishing. There is a lot of action, guilt and love. excellent story.

Loved reading about the family of Rainhorse. This is the story of Ska and Eli. Going back to her beginnings, seeing how she got to where she is today. When her drug dealer gets out of jail and comes after Rainhorse steps in to lend a hand.

Great to get a little more of Ska's back story and well as another piece of a wonderful overall story line with a wonderful guest apperance of Wolf from Susan Stoker's SEAL of Protection series. Plenty of actions and characters to root for gives the reader a great ride. Enjoy!

Good read

Eli loved Ska ever since they were in high school. She was a meth addict and he wanted to help her, but went into Seal training instead. She has recovered and he is coming to visit. Are the sparks still there?

Expertly written. Loved all the characters. The style of writing was different, but it made a very nice change. A lot of action.
