Gabe has the ability to know what people are doing just by thinking about them. It doesn't matter where they are or what they're up to. He's learned a lot of secrets, and all of this knowledge is ruining his life. On the plus side, he's unbeatable at hide-and-seek. When a little girl goes missing, Gabe uses his powers to find her, which brings a hope of purpose to his life. He thinks he might be able to use his ability to help people, like a real-life superhero. But when the wrong people find out what he can do, his life spirals into a nightmare from which he may never escape.
Dale Britton is a high school math and computer science teacher and the father of three incredible girls and has thus experienced his fair share of drama over the last twenty years. It was only natural that his lifelong love of books and reading would eventually develop into a passion for writing. His literary tastes lean toward the creepy and sensational, though he doesn't mind a bit of romance as well. He currently lives in Arlington, Texas with his beautiful family, his faithful dog, and his equally faithful chinchilla.
Suspenseful, with well-handled ethical dilemmas and appealing characters. For those of us who notice technical aspects, the writing is smooth and typos are seldom. The story was enjoyable for adults, but should appeal even more to the younger age groups for which it was written.
This book is suspenseful and includes circumstances that many young adults will identify with. I really enjoyed reading it, and I would recommend this book to students in middle and high school. It is notable that this story does not contain language and situations that many young-adult novels frequently include. For this reason, I would not hesitate to recommend it to upper elementary students as well. I am always looking out for a great, clean, young-adult novel, and Britton delivered. Although this was the first of his novels that I have read, it won't be the last.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characterization--especially Rylee, I would love to know someone so fun and enthusiastic. The plot is engaging, the situation interesting, and the twists kept me reading all in one sitting. If there was one critique, it would be that it is dialogue-heavy: a bit more description would be nice. But it seems to fit the mystery genre. Overall, I highly recommend it!
Very exciting, much like the author's other books. This took a bunch of turns that I didn't expect, including a pretty darn one towards the end, but I liked that it kept me guessing and engaged.
