Izzy Kavanagh hates her new life in the US; that much she’s made obvious. She’s done everything she can to alienate her twin, Ethan, and to prove she doesn’t want to be there.
She’s certainly succeeded.
Perhaps a little too much.
Suddenly the idea of having her brother hate her isn’t what she wants. Knowing her mother would be ashamed of her behaviour weighs on her mind, and the idea of having someone who cares about her isn’t so bad after all. Then there’s her brother’s best friend, Finn. No matter how much she wants to ignore him and pretend she doesn’t care about his opinion, he always seems to be there, and it’s getting harder and harder to act like she’s indifferent to him.
But the damage has been done, and now all she can do is count down the days until she’s allowed to return to the UK and forget all about her time in the US.
“I'm tired of Lila thinking I would look twice at her when you're on this planet. I'm tired of everyone not knowing I'm crazy about you. I'm tired of everyone not knowing I think you're the most beautiful girl in the world, and I'm desperate to call you mine.”
All That's Left is an amazing story where you don't realize you've fallen for the characters until it's too late, but All That's Been Said brings the world of Izzy and Ethan to a whole new lever.
With intense, honest depictions of hope and rejection, All That's Been Said will break your heart. With Ethan, Izzy and Finn not backing down, finding love and belonging where you least expected it, your heart and soul will grab hold of your emotions from the first page, and it won't let go until you've reached the very end.
I couldn’t wait to read the concluding part to Izzy & Ethan’s story. After Ethan said he was done with Izzy I was really hoping this was the kickstart she needed to turn her life around.
Izzy is still stuck in her grief, she’s still angry, hurt and lonely. But she has people fighting to help her and her demons. Her twin brother Ethan, despite saying he was done with her was still her biggest supporter. He still loved her so much and was desperate for the closeness they shared as children. He missed his sister so much and at times it was heartbreaking to read how much he missed her. Finn was still there for her in the sidelines calling out her bad behaviour but supporting her when she needed it. And her friends Marcus, Pippa, Rachel, Paul, Logan & Matty, who she grew close to.
I loved how Izzy grew stronger and realised how her behaviour was affecting those around her loved her and how she was starting to accept their love and take responsibility.
I really enjoyed their story and would really love another book about them as I really wanted an epilogue that took place a few years later just to see how everyone was doing. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love this so much! I’m so attached to these characters 😂
The author has the perfect writing technique - just enough details to set the scene without overloading you. Witty comebacks and swoon worthy conversations. 10/10 will read again
I don't know what is it about this book that I love it so very much that I had to reread it in just a span of two months even when the whole story was still fresh in my mind. I'm not saying it's a perfect book. Infact I found out a lot of things that didn't make sense when I read it the second time, but that still didn't bother me because of my love for this story. I love how the story totally focuses on Ethan and Izzy's relationship, their grief, their bonding. Even though I'm a romantic at heart I wasn't a bit interested in the relationship that developed between Finn and Izzy and I wouldn't even mind if that part was completely omitted. I just wanted to read more about Ethan and Izzy. I need more stories like this at the moment.
Oh my goodness! I have all the feels. I love this book. It is better than the first. While the first book deals with Izzy and Ethan struggling with grief, this book deals with healing.
I am happy with the way it ended. I love the relationship growth between not only Izzy and Ethan, but with Finn as well. We get to find out all the answers to the questions we had in the first book.
The only thing that didn’t get explained is if Evie and Ethan stay together or if they are officially ended. Or maybe it did and I just skimmed over that.
I didn’t like book one but I hoped that book 2 would wrap up the story and give a satisfying ending. I didn’t get that. Book two was a continuation of the self destructive selfishness of book 1. It doesn’t feel like the FMC learned anything as she was making the same mistakes and missteps all through out the book. Then the love factor just seemed forced. I could go on and on but the jist is that I just didn’t like it at all.
Redemption For a Grieving Sister who was Self Destructing
All Thats Been Said.
This second instalment of the Carlington Twins saga.
And in this book it’s all about redemption.
Particularly, for Izzy,
Continuing on from the the first book where she arrived in Kellan, Texas…
Reluctantly.
After the death of her young mother at the age of thirty-six., in London, we followed Izzy along her path of self destruction in book one
In this second book, she has found her tribe, of sorts,.
She has a group of friends? , the social outcasts, the math geeks, to help ease her into American High School life.
She is still grieving her mother, but she has pulled back, ever so slightly on the acting up.
This is also the book where she starts to grow as a person.
Beginning to realise that she is not a happy person and wanting to finally start a relationship with, and finding out more about her brother’s life.
Trying to extent a bit of an olive branch.
Unfortunately, some if her past behaviour keeps coming back to haunt her . This past behaviour continues to cause problems for Ethan, the school. And his friends/ teammates, Matty, Logan, and Finn.
Its these same friends that are desperately trying to mend the twins fractured relationship.
Through getting Izzy to become involved in Ethan’s football social events in this story.
But, in the first half of this second instalment, things haven’t progressed much on that front.
Until !
Ethan witnesses Izzy’s defence of her geek squad of friends.
Particularly, the acne prone, extremely shy, Paul, who has become Izzy’s unofficial chauffeur to school. ( until she gets her license )
The setting for this situation?
The school cafeteria where else ?
All of a sudden, it seems, if there is an in incident of bullying, Izzy will be there, right in the thick of it, defending the defenceless. Proving to Ethan and his friends that, maybe, she is finally becoming a better person and not the self centred, moody, drunk girl she’s portrayed around school.
So, despite her reputation in school of being a bitch, these moments of selflessness are a huge help in restoring her reputation and the opinion her classmates have of her
Then there’s Finn.
Ethan’s bestie . The boy who appears to be besotted with Izzy but is trying to “play it Cool “
Well, it only take one Sunday “ Cook Out “ at Finn’s family farm to show Izzy the type of close, loving relationship he has with his siblings and parents. Something she has been missing yo have her re- evaluating
All these moments help Izzy to drop her amour, and start to thaw in her attitude
So.
This book drifted along towards the ending we knew was coming.
And!
Just in case the hard nut Izzy wasn’t going to concede, and temper her behaviour, the author decide to throw in a bit of a “ life or death” situation right at the end to force Izzy into realising that life is short
After a stroll through Ethan’s room, looking at past photos, and a sneaky look into his online messages with their departed Mum, Izzy is left feeling highly emotional. Then has the double whammy of an accident, really piles it on towards the end
Yep.
Life is short.
Now it’s time to let go of the past pain, and start to realise that she is loved. she has people around her that actually care for her.
There were , once again, moments here that were, well a little cringe. Like the blow out in the school corridor between a fuming Ethan and his friend Matty.
This whole scene served as a turning point, of sorts, in the twins relationship
( Especially the fallout ) which seemed a little obvious, and a little clunky when dealing with this subject matter
Got very little sleep. Rolled right from the first book into this one and LOVED IT! You really get a lot of depth with these complex characters and situations and I really loved how things got resolved in this.
It felt a bit abrupt in terms of the ending and wouldn’t mind seeing more of Finn and Izzy and how things work out down the road with them.
This is definitely a romance, but it felt like it was also more about the love between Izzy and her brother, Ethan and the real romance was the sibling love and working out and resolving their issues. I can definitely see myself rereading this duet!
I’ve read many books since in quarantine but nothing got me feeling like this. I love the 2nd one more because I just can’t stand Izzy self-destruct way and how she kept pushing away everyone that was just trying to care for her. I’m glad that in the 2nd she came to be a better person evnthough not instantly because that would just be unbelievable and not realistic, and for that I appreciate ED for doing it her way. I wish I have a brother like Ethan, he really deserved everything good coming his way and to have such great friends to be there for him when he got no family nearby. I love this story sooo soo much I never want to end this book. Though I wish the romantic aspect between Izzy and Finn could be developed more and have more portion in the book, I get that this is more about the relationship between the twins. Definitely a re-read for me and I can’t wait for months to pass by so I can got back to devour this book again. I’ve been following ED ever since her first book and gotta say not single one of her book ever failed me. Can’t wait to read more from her and I hope we can get more from the twins and Finn in the future.

A great ending! It really did everything it needed to do. I wish we had gotten to see more of Finn and Izzy as a couple. I wish we had seen more of Ethan and Izzy making up as friends. It’s strange to me that Marcus didn’t acknowledge Izzy in the hospital. There are so many more scenes, I wish we had gotten but it was a really good story. I’m glad to finally understand Ethan’s reasoning for going back to the States. It was an uphill battle but it was fun.
This series could’ve easily been just 1 book, it felt like it was dragged out and just the same thing as book 1. Some good moments but could’ve easily been put in the first book.
4.5 stars. Izzy has really dug herself into a hole with Ethan. It's obvious how much she is hurting, but so is he. Although I love how much Ethan tries and backs her up even when she doesn't deserve it, it's also fun to see him explode and share raw emotion with her, too. Despite their tumultuous relationship and Izzy's bad choices, she is still awesome at her core, where she cares about people and defends others, not worrying about anyone's opinion. So many great scenes in this one between she and Ethan as far as how much they don't say with words but more so with their actions. As for Finn, I enjoy the glimpses of him and while I wouldn't have minded more of him, I'm happy that the focus was truly between Izzy and Ethan. And while Ethan and Izzy have so many obstacles between them, I think it would've worked better if they were solidified first rather than Finn's presence in the equation. Regardless, I couldn't read this conclusion fast enough with all of the raw emotion and am happy that Izzy finally got her act together.
I absolutely love this authors style of writing. It’s clear concise and she has a real talent for describing and bringing the characters to life. This series is written with passion and understanding and the dialogue between the characters is flawless.
I really wish there was a 3rd book as they were so well written and I feel there is at least another book in there. I will definitely revisit both books.
I’m going to try her other books now.
1 click now and make sure you read book 1 first. You will definitely not be disappointed. Just sad now as I’ve finished them
I found this book much better than the last in terms of character development. Izzy was on a despairing downhill spiral in the first one, but she definitely changed for the better in this book. I like how the story isn't too focused on the relationship between the siblings and about the natural, slow way Izzy comes to terms with grief. There's a lot of serious topics, but I sped through reading this book as I was totally immersed in the story!
I got so attached to the characters on so many levels, I smiled when they called each other special nicknames and that whenever something happened in the end they were there for each other, all of the characters true, but preferably Ethan and Izzy, they were there for each other and cried when the other was suffering, and I think that was the best sort of relationship between siblings. Ethan helped to pick up Izzy and that was so sweet.

This was an amazing conclusion to Izzy and Ethan's story. I absolutely loved how everything played out. I was wondering how Izzy was going to mend her relationship with Ethan and her friends. I was not disappointed! Loved every second of this story!
One thing I would want an epilogue to see how things worked out a little further down the story.
I love how this book ended and i hate how it ended. Need a book three to sort the raging book hangover i have. This book series is heartbreakingly realistic and it’s emotionally WRECKING. It will break you. It will also slowly piece you back together. Highly recommend.
A great conclusion to the duet. Grief and recovery with a bit of romance thrown in. And of course an extra bit of drama towards the end. And what an uplifting ending. I would like to have had a glimpse of graduation and beyond. There's a lot more story here.
