Good mystery! Pepper is a 20-year-old man working as a police cadet before he goes to college. His father is the Sheriff. Pepper's job is boring so when a young woman is kidnapped, Pepper gets involved in trying to find her.
The story is very detailed. In some ways this makes the progress slow. Yet something is happening all the time. This is a very good mystery and it was fun following all the leads with Pepper. It was also fun watching Pepper mature through these experiences. The characters have strengths and weaknesses that bring them to life.
I was gifted this ebook but this is my own, voluntary review.

I am a mystery novel lover. I am a fan of James Patterson. The recent authors I have read have fallen short and are very disappointing. Timothy Fagan is the first that has caught my attention. The story is exciting, something is always happening. There is only one part towards the end that I felt was a bit too long but it did not deter from the excitment.
Pepper (Peter) is a 20 year old police cadet working for the summer with the department. His father is the police chief and his older brother is an officer. Pepper works in a dark office inputting info from old cases into the police database, boring. When a local girl gets kidnapped, Pepper wants to volunteer for the search party, only to be told he needs to stay in his office and keep doing his work. Shortly after, another girl goes missing. Pepper decides to act on his own. There are plenty of local people who could fit the bill for this crime, you won't know until the end. The more Pepper finds out, the more trouble he gets into.
Occassionally Pepper performs with his friends in a cover band on the weekend, his friends get into the action a bit too. And of course there is a girl Pepper has a crush on. There is a little bit of everything and alot of excitment to keep you wanting more. This is my first Fagan novel but I will read more. You should too if you like a good mystery.

This book has a great story, but moves at an extremely slow pace. Most of the characters are somewhat eccentric, and many red herrings crossed the narrative. I would describe it as mostly a coming of age story with a major crime as the vehicle. The end suggests we will see more of Pepper Ryan in the future

This is the second book in the Pepper Ryan Thriller series by Timothy Fagan. Pepper Ryan is a twenty-year old police cadet working the summer for the department and performs on the weekend with a cover band. Pepper's father is the police chief and his brother is an officer. Pepper inputs old cases into the police database. When a teenage girl is kidnapped, Pepper volunteers but is told to stay in the office. The police launch a manhunt to catch the kidnapper, nicknamed the Greenhead Snatcher. Another girl goes missing and Pepper tries to locate the girl himself, but only finds trouble. Pepper tries to find clues to locate the suspects, and he makes the mistake of promising a family that he’ll bring their daughter home alive. As time runs out, Pepper attempts to find the girls and expose the shocking truth about the serial kidnappings. I really enjoyed this amazing mystery thriller novel.

It’s different but it grabbed me

I initially thought this was a young adult book and so I nearly stopped reading it. I’m glad I didn’t. The language is very casual which would appeal to younger readers, while at the same time very intelligent. Everything is thought out to the finest detail. An interesting style combination.
Great character development and very fast paced. I will definitely read more from this author

Terrific story

What a great story. I never suspected the villain. So much was packed into this! A young man turning into an adult. Relationships typical for that time of his life. Determination and self reflection involved and a real sense of learning and understanding of his role in life and responsibilities.

Great Book But Not Book 2

You must read their book first before Killing Shore. If not you will not understand Wonderboy!
Both books are great! Excellent character development, strong story and lots of excitement.
Really hard to put down.
Can't wait for the next one.

Good book

Mr Fagan has created a heroic/tragic character and has placed him in a most interesting police mystery. I enjoyed reading this book and it’s “predecessor” which takes place eight years later.

Ugh, never thought it would end

The first couple of pages made me think it was going to be good, downhill from there. Characters were not interesting, relationships awkward, and story line was unbelievable. Was so glad when it was done.

This book by Timothy Fagan was an extra satisfying crime story that tells of how Pepper Ryan first got involved in police work while also attempting to figure out what to do with his personal life. The author certainly throws in a lot of suspects for the reader to consider, most easily disregarded, but the final and guilty one was a surprise to me. The author also chose to throw a heck of a lot of roadblocks and obstacles for Pepper to overcome while he attempts to figure out who he truly is and what he is going to do with his future. The suspense is built from the beginning all the way to the ending. I am looking forward to reading further adventures by Pepper Ryan. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.

Award-winning Fagan knocks it out of the park again with this prequel to his first Pepper Ryan novel. This book will pull you into the warm and spirited summer days of being 18 on the Cape, and entertain you with dynamic characters and hidden twists. Just what I needed during the stir crazy days of Covid-19. A fun read and a page turner.

Brilliantly entertaining and clever,. This story tugged at all my emotions, And I grew to love Pepper Ryan even more. The ending was an imaginative twist I absolutely did not see coming. Tim Fagan delivers one of the best reads I can remember in a long time. All I can say is, when is Pepper Ryan coming back?

Exciting to read this Pepper Ryan thriller. It kept me turning pages in suspense, trying to figure out about what was going to happen. I liked finding out more about the characters from Killing Shore & the origin story of how he got his start in solving crimes. Enjoyed the fast pace and elements of romance and humour also worked in these novels. Can’t wait for the next one.

A great escape to the Cape Cod sun! Take a wild ride with Pepper Ryan as a pursues the kidnapping of a teenage girl. You will cringe as the young Pepper defies the wisdom of his law enforcement elders, and the plot twists will keep you wondering who are the good guys. I enjoyed this prequel to Killer Tide, and can't wait for more.
