Shannon is a born and raised Texan. She grew up inventing clever stories, usually to get herself out of trouble. Her mother was not amused. In junior high, she began writing fractured fairy tales from the villain's point of view and that was the moment she knew that she was going to use her powers for evil instead of good.

In 2003, she moved to Denver and met the love of her life. After some relentless stalking and a few well-timed sarcastic remarks, the man eventually gave in to her charms and wifed her so hard. They welcomed a son in 2007 that they named after their favorite Marvel superhero, Spiderman.

Sick of seeing beautiful mountains through their window every day, the three escaped back to the desolate landscape of the west Texas desert in 2009. She welcomed her second son not long after and soon realized that being surrounded by three men was nothing at all like she'd imagined in her fantasies.

After an unplanned surgery in 2014 and a long pity party, she decided to pen a novel about the worst thing that could happen to a person in order to cheer herself up. She's twisted like that. Thus, From This Day Forward was born and the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only does Shannon enjoy stalking people, she also has a fondness for being stalked. Visit her at www.shannonshaemyers.com to keep up with her latest schemes and shenanigans.

Hands down my favorite book of 2019!

Stop whatever the fuck you’re doing and read this series now! This isn’t a standalone; you should start with Renegade and Traitor (Mike & Lauren’s books) as it sets up Deserter where we meet Jamie “Grey” Quinn and Celia Cross. You won’t regret it- trust me!

I don’t have words to convey how my heart and mind are feeling right now. My chest is still beating fast. I need answers, need to know what happens next. I thought I had an idea of where this story was going, but Mrs. Myers did an amazing job keeping us on our toes.

Grey and Celia’s story is full of deceit, betrayal, love, lies, sacrifices, flawed characters, gut-wrenching moments and so much more. I cried, cringed, swooned, laughed and loved these characters so much. I’m telling you, this series is EVERYTHING! I need Protector now! Is it June yet?

This book...I can't begin to tell you the love I have for this book and this author. This book is raw, it's edgy, it's heartbreaking, it's soul-crushing. It was so much more than I was expecting from this story. Shannon Myers has a way of writing a story that is so soul consuming that it leaves you breathless and craving more. I did not see Grey and Celia coming. I did not see how this story was going to make me fall in love not only with Grey but with Celia. These two fight so hard against each other and for each other. They take the good with the bad and hope there is so much more when it's all over. I loved watching Grey's walls crumb. But watching them build back up hurts almost more.

Celia has a strength, unlike any character I have ever read. I love her love for Grey and her family. I love that while Grey insists being one way, Celia stands steady by his side. I love that she is willing to go beyond herself for the man she loves and her family.

This book, these words, this series makes me happy. Shannon has pickup up on the true essences of what an MC is. She does an amazing job making you feel like you are right there taking part in everything. I've fallen hard for may of Shannon's men, but I don't think I could love any character more than I love Grey. He's special and has a special place in my heart.

Holy shit. I have loved every book I’ve read by Myers but this book, this book is in its own league. Hands down the best book she has written to date. I was fighting not to get emotional before I had even hit chapter 4. If you have read Mikes story and love him, he has NOTHING on his dad. Grey pissed me off and broke my heart and I love him. Celia is everything you want in a heroine and so much more. The ending of this book will have you wishing your life away just so June can get here and we can get a conclusion. Hands down the best book I’ve read all year!!! Angst, joy, anger, beauty, this book has it all.

Not for me

I've read a lot of MC books over the years, but I just couldn't get into this one.

It did tell you at the beginning that it contained sexual assault, but it was difficult to read especially because she still wanted him afterwards.

I'm sorry, but rape is rape. It doesn't matter if you are in love with the person or not. No is no .

I've read about rape scenes in plenty of other books, but this was too much.

I gave up after 30% as not one of the characters were likeable for me.

It was a bit all over the place at first and I couldn't keep up with what was going on. Not a good read I'm afraid

At first, I really liked this book. I did throw a little side-eye when he was like, "Oh, she's 17, age of consent!" That's really young. There was a certain point though where I thought, okay, she went from the valedictorian on her way to college with a scholarship to a knocked-up teenager living in a trailer with the pres of an MC, smoking Camels, with her man faking his death, having to practically starve because she doesn't have enough money, causing her to gamble in high-stakes games. I mean, that's a change! At some point, the two main characters were no longer a loved-up pair, but rather a series of bad decisions. And our "hero" allowing his men convince him that the only possible solution was to fake his death - for years???!?!?! Weak. So while I started out enjoying the love story, the subplot involving the MC and gangs was not doing it for me. And then the end! That, to me, was a direct result of Jamie leaving. So the characters are what lowered the rating for me. They kind of ruined their own story.

This is the third book in this awesome series, and in my opinion, this series needs to be read in order. This is Grey and Celia’s story, and what an emotional roller coaster their journey is. This is a well written story which is raw, gritty and filled with deceit, betrayal, lies, emotion, humour, and love. I was hooked and intrigued throughout this spine tingling masterpiece, which is an addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read the next book in this thrilling series, and recommend for all MC lovers.

LOVED IT! I had to go back and start at the beginning. I loved every single page that I have read. It is dark and gritty and tears you apart. Love on the deepest of levels, but not in your normal happily ever after sense. Being as I had to go back and read the first two books, I was very happy to delve into this series. I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Why do so many authors mistake depressing for dark? Such a ddepressing read. It's about idiots who constantly eff-up, never learn from they mistakes, waste years of their lives away from the ones they love, with big plot problems and is boring in huge chunks. It reminds me of the depressing, Undeserving books by Madeline Sheehan, where A-holes just keep doing stupid sh*t, making their, and every one else's, life miserable. It was a miserable read and reminded me a lot of Madeline Sheehan's Undeserving series, so depressing.

So many problems, here's a quick list -

1) I love dark MC books, but many authors seem to think dark means depressing. And I'm depressed after reading this. It starts with the pov of an eight year old boy, thinking about his father who has returned from Vietnam as abusive, angry, wife beating asshole. He joins an motorbike club, dragging his wife and son into it. Sounds like a good premise but it was so dragging. It was five chapters before the boy, Jamie aka club name Grey, has grown up, an is an 18 year old at least, and part of the club. But still there's nothing enjoyable to read, all just pages and pages of seriously boring club business and depressing personal problems.

2) I don't know how old this author is but a 40 year old prez stepping down because he is 'too old' is ridiculous, and handing his club to a 23 year old to become prez is even more ridiculous and stupid. Teenage angst and melodrama, that's what this was.

3) They take a girl as payment for her father's unpaid debt, he, Grey/Jamie, the twenty three year old prez, takes her virginity as payment, now likely a dark read soil can be okay with that but it's just not believable that this innocent good girl wants more after he throws her out like trash? She goes back to find him, he gives her to a prospect to eff her, who proceeds to rough her up, try to drown and rape her at the same time, she smiles at the guy, yes thats right, sge smiles at her would be rapist, not Jamie btw, the prospect, are you serious with this rubbish! He kills the prospect for it. Then apparently we are supposed to believe that this good girl, who has never had a drink, goes to church, has only just turned 17, is happy to be effed in a filthy toilet by the a-hole, all with the dead body bleeding at her feet?! Complete rubbish. It was so ridiculously unbelievable and stupid,

4) Grey/Jamie realises he wants her, gets her, gets her pregnant but then he's a stupid a-hole again and hurts her. She almost loses the baby, so he stays away from her to try to protect her from himself. Alright I can accept that but theres bigger problems-

5) That lasts a few months until she goes after him again, they get together again and once again the reader thinks finally this time he will have learned from his mistakes, grow up and wise up but no, he fucks up yet again by not telling her about his son, hurting her yet again. Letting the slut that's been after I'm all this time into the bathroom with his pregnant wife, who hits her, risking his baby, yet again, the stupidity knows no bounds.

6) Then he takes off for years leaving her and their daughters completely unprotected apart from one guy watching them. Why the heck didn't he move her and his daughters to Slim's or somewhere else safe? They coulda said she couldn't stay there because the memories were too painful. Any thing other than leaving her and his daughters exposed, alone and vulnerable. It wasn't believable and just seemed like a way for the author to throw in yet more violence, misery and depressing heartache on the character's, without any substance behind it.

There's so many more problems with the plot, like how did they get the girls out of the strip club without every male member of the gang seeing them? Etc. But I wanna end my review because I'm as frustrated and depressed reading this as I was when I read Madeline Sheehan's Undeserving. I know some readers thought that was a great read but it's so depressing reading about idiots making the same stupid mistakes over and over, wasting years, making themselves and everyone else miserable and depressed.

I'm really trying to end my review but had to mention the writing is also so lacking that scenes aren't set well, and basic details are missing, I didn't even know what any one looked like, except that the hero had blonde hair and blue and the heroine had dark hair and green eyes. The writing is not the worst, which I normally save a 1 star rating for, but this was just so depressing and boring I'm giving 1 star.

This is not the book or series you want to read if you are looking for happily ever after. If you want a story that sucks you down into it's depths, messes with your head, feeds you some incredible writing, mythology tie-ins, and some comic book references and then rips your heart out of your chest - this is the one for you.

I said all the cuss words, and I knew what was coming. I KNEW - and it still wrecked me. In the best way. Because I know that Celia and Jamie and their deep, real characters get two more books and that every character from the other books in the series (as well as the Operation duo) get more time to tell their stories.

It's a romance, but not a happy one; at least not most of the time. This world is dark, and dirty but full of life and drama.

You want to read this - but start with Renegade and Traitor first.

Deserter by Shannon Myers a five-star read that won’t ever leave you. This is the third novel in the Silent Phoenix series and it’s the best in the series in my eyes. This review has taken me days to write it, every time I tried, I just kept sobbing now I just have chills. it’s so well written that you wont ever forget this story. Its heart-breaking but its also beautiful and compelling and needs the next part of the story to hurry along as I need more Celia in my life. This is a story that will bring every emotion out of you, it will surprise you with how much you will feel.

I loved this book from a new to me author. Her MC world sucked me in from the first page until the end and can't wait to see what's in store next for Grey and Celia. Word of warning this book ends in a cliffhanger, but it's so worth the read and now the wait to see what happens next. Grey's life in the beginning was not an easy one and when he ends up being the Prez of the Silent Pheonix MC he lives for his club and only his club. That all changes though when he meets Celia, who was supposed to be a simple meeting and then out of his life forever. But the best laid plans don't always work out that simply. Grey and Celia end up on a twisting, turning and unpredictable story that hasn't fully been told even by the end of the book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

OMG!!!!!

This Book was so good. It a must read! I absolutely can not wait to read the next one. This has everything in it.just the right amount of sex and violence with out going over top and making it ridiculous. It's a story with alot of depth to it. The only thing I didn't like was it being a cliffhanger ugh! Hate that! If I had known I might have waited to read it until it was out as well. Still glad I read it though. That ending, just makes me want the next Book now. At least I won't have to long to wait since it will be next month. Absolutely loved this. Thank you so much for writing it!

Spine tingling doesn’t do this book justice. But that’s the perfect description of what you feel while reading it. Shannon keeps you on your toes wondering what’s coming next or curled in a ball biting your nails at the angst level of awesomeness she builds!
I’ve never read anything like it and now...I just want more! Read now and get your MC fill! When you are done and screaming for more, don’t worry you can pick up her other books and find your favorite characters alive in them all.

Amazingly raw, gritty, violent, love and I loved every minute of it!!!

This book grabbed me, held me, and spit me out at the end that left me completely undone. My heart was pounding, anxiety riding high, with an ending that left me shocked and wanting to cry. My heart broke, utterly shattered.

I love this book. I had been in a reading slump, nothing was interesting enough to hold my attention until book. It's alpha MC men at their finest, violence, sex, drugs, club girls doing bad and a muffed up old lady who I would have liked to see taken care of. Yup, everything you LOVE in an MC book.

I will gladly recommend this book to others. But I will say their are triggers in this book. Let me repeat THEIR ARE TRIGGERS IN THIS BOOK. In my opinion that is what grab you in this book. So if triggers are a issue with you don't get it. But again, this book was amazing.

5++ Stars!

First thing I’m gonna say is Shannon Myers WTF!!! I know she knows what I am talking about!
With that said her writing was freaking brilliant! I have read one other book by her and loved it, so this one did not disappoint but it definitely was a lot more Gritty then the other book I read by her, but I expected that with this series. From what I understand Ms Myers changed up the order of the books in the series and this should be read as the first book instead of the third.

Grey and Celias story wrecked me. That is what is so amazing about her writing. This story will have you feeling so many things and just leave you feeling raw and emotionally tortured by the end. I cannot even imagine as a writer the mind space she had to be in to write some of the most gut wrenching scenes in this book. Shannon Myers writing reminds me a lot of Madeline Sheehans Undeniable series. I have read a ton of MC books and a lot of them were extremely gritty. But there is a difference between gritty and having a lot of sex and violence and the the kind that give you the same but delivered in a way that pulls every emotion out of you and just when you thought you couldn’t give anymore she keeps on pulling more.

I don’t know what I can say about this book that will not give anything away. You really have to experience it as you read it. This story brings you Grey and Celia from the beginning and takes you on a journey that will leave you feeling everything right down to the last page. Which by the way leaves you with a cliff hanger, but no worries the series is complete and you can start the next one right away.

If you love a book that will rip you wide open emotionally and you don’t have triggers then this book is right up you alley.

Great job Ms Myers you definitely deserve a standing ovation for this one!

Shannon Myers is a new to me author, and Deserter truly traumatized me with the way it ended. Like this was the cliffy to end all cliffhangers, and I'm LIVID to the millionth degree, so ready to start sending mean messages with colorful metaphor name calling to the author. And it's taking everything in me not to do it, not because I'm new to Ms. Myers Silent Phoenix MC world, but because I don't want her to take time away from finishing the next book. I'm good with looking like a crazy deranged fan girl, that's not a problem for me, since it gets tiring trying to hang on by a thread here off the side of this cliff. I mean, if she's going to take me through Jamie's, aka Grey, world with the love of his life, Celia, as they met, fell in love, made a family, and he built the MC back up, well don't try to kill me like that evil "lady of the night" (and I think you know the word that I truly mean but certain places won't publish my reviews if I type that certain word.) I dropped so many damn f-bombs from all the twists, and LAWD, didn't even see the biggest ones coming leading up to that ending. And I'm so mad at Jamie, so mad, I'm not sure how Ms. Myers will be able to get me to forgive him at this point. So that's enough rambling by me, as you really just need to one click it for yourselves to understand the crazy coming out of me to be honest as it did my head in! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It begins with blood and tears, shrouded in mystery the story of Grey is not a fairy tale. The rise and fall of a MC Prez is drenched in the blood of enemies and sometimes brothers and littered with the corpses of those that pay the price for the reaper. Love is born in the dark and raw world of the MC, just a spark that ignites and cannot be smothered no matter what fate throws at them. But Grey should have known he couldn’t have it all...

This book is gut wrenching. From start to finish where it ends in an epically violent and heart breaking way. My heart hurt for Celia who’s whole life transforms the moment she becomes the price for a debt her father owed. Her strength and courage astounded me and her sheer blind faith in her love for a man who took her from everything she had ever known. Grey is head strong and blinded by his perceived authority and the price she pays for his mistakes is so very high. I was on the edge throughout the majority of this book and can’t wait until the next in the series is out. Everything a MC novel should be and more.

A four and a half star rise from the ashes read.

This is my first read from Shannon Myers and man WOW the only thing that I didn’t like cliff hanger. Grey and Celia’s story is full of deceit betrayal, love, lies, sacrifices, flawed characters, gut-wrenching moments and so much more; this story is one hell of ride. This book is very well written flows so good that you don’t even relies the how much you read or how late you stayed up. O and the plot twist I did not see coming I can’t wait for part 2. I’m leaving so much out.

********************SPOILERS****************
Please be aware that The Deserter is not recommended for readers under the age of eighteen, as it contains strong language, sexual situations, drug use, and graphic violence.
This is at the beginning of the book, it is NOT a strong enough warning IMO! I've read many MC books, I understand violence, language and sexual situations, drama and murder are apart of these types of books and I enjoy the majority of what I've read. What I don't enjoy is explicitly written details of abuse & rape! What this book is in the 26% I read was not only what's mentioned above but so much more! In 26% of this book you have domestic abuse, child abuse, spontaneous abortion from abuse, then when Jamie aka Grey grows up and fathers a child he not only yells she should have taken care of it before he new about it but allows his child and the mother (Betsy)of his child to basically relive the life he had. She is physically abused, the boy flinched when Comedian( her old man)was around indicating he was also being abused. He's 4 yrs old & Grey did nothing to stop it. In the beginning when Grey and Betsy meet and have sex he sees she's being abused, has bruises and broken ribs and offers to kill her old man for beating her!! But does nothing after she has his boy! WTF?!?! Lets add more fire to my hatred of this book... Someone owes the club money they kidnap him and bc the wife wasn't home take his virgin 17 yr old daughter as " debt, pound of flesh" owed to them. I guess this author thought it a kindness to only let Grey rape her instead of being passed around the club as well. Then when she goes home her mother forces her to church and is cruel to her because she didn't totally hate Grey raping her! All this bc of a look on her face, did she try to tt her daughter, hug her give her support?!? Nope!!!!
Am I in an alternate universe where its ok to beat, rape and verbally abuse people even in books and its ok!?!? Not one character was likeable or made me want to finish reading to see if this story could be turned around! Like I said, I walk a fine line with my MC reads but anything graphically described is an automatic h3!! NO! After all this in my short time reading of this book I can honestly say there would not be any way any of these characters could redeem themselves for me to enjoy this book.
Reading is an escape, a stress relief from real life. This book literally made me have that 6th sense icky feeling when a creepy stranger or situation arises! This book was opposite of emerging myself in a story but feeling disgusted by what I read!
I'll stick to amazing MC reads like: Storm MC by Nina Levine, Devils Blaze MC or Savage brothers MC and Savage Brothers MC 2nd generations by Jordan Marie, King series by T.M. Frazier ( these books push boundaries) , Knights Rebels MC by River Savage. Check these books out, I promise no disgusting icky feelings to be had!!!
Kudos for authors putting a part of themselves out there by writing, however this was not a book content I want to read its a BIG DNF! Negative stars if optional! .✌

Epic Read

My words will not do this book justice. I was drawn in from the first word till the last. Jamie and Celia's story brings all the feels and leaves you wanting more. This is book one in a two book series. You will also need to keep the tissues handy.

Favorite quote: Celia ~ "I was Icarus and Jamie was the sun. I’d known what it would cost me, yet I’d chased after him anyway. I’d flown too high, convinced that he’d never let anything happen to me; certain that I’d never come back down to earth. But I had."
