Strawberry Shortcake Sins

A baker who sees the dead. One too many suitors.
And a killer. Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.
*A laugh out loud standalone cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore* All books in the series can be read individually but are best enjoyed in order.

My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, aka dead pets, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.

A couple of feuding food vloggers descend upon my bakery to shoot an episode of their culinary videos and it quickly devolves into a strawberry shortcake disaster. And then there is Everett with his new reality taking over his existence—and don't get me started on Noah. That dark secret he just uttered has the power to destroy everything he's worked for and perhaps so much more. It's spring in Honey Hollow and heartache is sprouting up everywhere. But there is a murder to solve and a cute little ghostly corgi to help me do just that. The heat index is rising in Honey Hollow and it's shaping up to be a real killer.

Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see dead pets—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in the occasional ghost of the human variety, a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Living in the small town of Honey Hollow can be murder.

Two murder mysteries for the price of one - sign me up! However, Lottie really needs to choose either the wily detective of the dashing Judge. I think it has gone on far too long. It appears that Noah and she are cursed for one reason or another. At this point I feel bad that Everett is left waiting in the wings. Lottie is left to figure out who decided to murder someone in her bakery, along with helping Noah out of his predicament. As always, she gets her answers but some of them were surprising. I am hoping she makes her choice in the next book since it really is getting to be out of hand with her and her "loves". It would be nice to see the end of Cormack also.

These novels are all fun and funny and outrageous, and they are quick reads. But I'm ready for Lottie to finally make a choice between Noah and Everett (I'm rooting for Noah), and I'm ready for Cormack to go away already! I'd love the series to continue with Lottie finally deciding on her true love, and them working cases together, and whomever she doesn't choose finding love as well. I don't think the love triangle needs to continue to keep the book series going.

Again, this is a fun, funny, entertaining quick read, and the series is bingeable for those of you that want 21 KU books to consume quickly and keep you laughing.

Lottie is a favorite

I love Lottie, I enjoy the world they are in, I enjoy the lead males and even the ghosts. It is getting a bit much though with the mothers acting like they are in heat, the dating two guys and other little bits. I don’t want to be critical, I have loved this series from the start but it’s getting a little bit much for me. I’m ready for a change/advancement in the overall plot of the series.

Got tired of reading the same information of past in every single book...almost word for word like a cut and paste to fill in pages...I did love the story line but not all the repetition

Annoyed

I am so sick of this series and Lottie! For heavens sake, when will she make a choice between Noah and Everett, as it's really getting old.

Good Mystery

I loved the mystery and I love the characters. But, pick one! This is getting tedious. Noah or Everette, pick one or tell them it's a menage. Lottie keeps blaming her lack of choosing on the men. Everett says he will stand by her while she pursues a love life with Noah. Noah is so screwed up he had to work out his divorce, then his stalker. Then he says he needs to get his head straight. I am so frustrated with this bull. Everett is a saint and now his daughter is treating Lottie like a mother. She needs to stop stringing everyone along and make a choice.

Mysteries get better, Noah becomes more of a wimp. Really tired of the so called love story. But all the other characters, living and dead, keep me coming back.

Sinfully devious...

Strawberry Shortcake Sins is the twenty-first book in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore and it's fantastic as always. Town baker Lottie Lemon is once again doomed to witness another deadly demise. Using her ever-evolving transmundane abilities and with the help of a poltergeist puppy, Lottie and friends must hunt for killer among the residents of Honey Hollow. Underneath the murder mystery remains the ongoing love triangle between Lottie, Everett and Noah. After another bombshell dropped at the end of the previous book, I was dying to find out what happened next and I definitely wasn't disappointed.

While this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading at least a few of the previous books in the series. This book is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page and give you a few good laughs in between. You'll throughout enjoy this spirited story from a wonderful author.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Things are complicated for baker Lottie Lemon. In the middle of taping an internet show in her Honey Hollow, VT bakery, the unthinkable happens. It's another murder and her ghostly helper is a sweet Corgi called Biscuit. There's lots of suspects for the current murder. Lottie is torn as she is busy trying to figure out what her boyfriend Noah did over a decade ago. Did he commit a murder? Her legal husband, Everett, helps her to try to figure out the long lost clues from so many years ago. Can Lottie solve two murders at one time? Lottie is torn between the two men in her life. I'm hoping that soon she'll make her final choice. I love this series. Each book is a standalone but I know you would enjoy the whole series.

Lottie is back at it again, and her life is a slippery slope of complicated situations. Addison really kept me on my toes with this one. I thought I had figured out who done it earlier than normal and bam plot twist. 21 books into the series and it’s still a heart thumping, emotional, edge of your seat ride in the Honey Hollow universe. I got so excited at the tidbit of excitement at the end and can not wait!!
If you haven’t ever read about Lottie her ghostly helpers to sleuth out a killer with her dynamic friends and family, I highly suggest going back to book one. That way you get the full aspect of her world.

Another good cozy mystery, but...

For the love of Pete, Lottie needs to be rid of the detective! The whole 'choosing between loves' has gone on for WAY too many books at this point.

Influencer Is a Deadly Occupation

Strawberry Shortcake Sins, book 21 in Addison Moore's addictive Murder in the Mix mystery rom-com series, pumps up the (strawberry) jam with a murder at Lottie's Cutie Pie Bakery.
When Lottie Lemon, professional baker and amateur sleuth, agrees to have a family friend and online influencer film an episode at her bakery, she's unprepared for the hundreds of camera crews, directors, hair and makeup artists, and fans who descend upon tiny Honey Hollow, Vermont; she's also unprepared for her sisters, mothers (bio and adoptive), best friend, and their men popping in to cheer her on. She's most unprepared for the influencer's archrival showing up and collapsing onto Lottie's strawberry shortcake, dead.
Who killed him? Biscuit, his deceased pet Corgi, suspects everyone Lottie talks to and labors under the delusion that his human Ben, a womanizer and thief, was a wonderful but misunderstood man. Biscuit offers repeatedly to smother each new suspect with his cuddly belly. Lottie won't take him up on his offer until she's sure.
Besides the welcome (and, in the case of homicide detective Noah's scheming father and Lottie's adoptive mom Miranda's latest horrible choice in boyfriends, less than welcome) drop-ins, the leeches show up--Cormack, who left judge Everett in high school for Noah and believes wrongly that she and her"Big Boss" are destined to marry, Lexie/Layla notwithstanding (she refuses to call Lottie by her real name), and Cressida, who shares Cormack's delusion about "Essex", Everett's first name, which he doles out to his dozens of pre-Lottie conquests, before he left his wild ways to focus on Lottie. She even married Noah, then Everett (long stories), and is now in an awkward relationship with both of them, where they know about each other and respect Lottie's inability to choose between them! Not the kind of men I'd want...
The leeches appear with their former sorority sister Serena, who they paid to pose as a witch and curse Lottie for interfering in the romances of Cormack and Noah and of Cressida and "Essex". The leeches even say they'll get their wedding cakes from a different baker! Of course, this threat never can be acted on since their baker of choice was a murder victim in the next book...but the threat of losing 2 wedding cakes scares Lottie more than the threat of losing Noah and Everett to Cormack and Cressida, who was recently arrested for sending Lottie death threats on sugar cookies with threatening messages and immediately revealed she had a child with Everett. Strawberry Shortcake Sins begins with Lottie and Everett's search for his child--who turns out to be a 15-year-old stripper at Red Satin in Leeds, the seedy town south of HH. She's got her dad's looks (black hair, blue eyes) and her mom's taste (foie gras rather than Mangias pizza or Wicked Wok dim sum), as well as a teen's attitude about authority (she won't listen to a cop ["Uncle Noah"] or a judge ["Everett"--she won't call him "Dad", just as Cressida never wanted her to call her "Mom"]. She's named Everly Baxter Bentley (Cressida's last name), but she wants them to call her Evie. Cressida just calls her "the brat" and hasn't seen her in 4-5 years. Lottie, who can't imagine such neglect--even Miranda was attentive until all 3 girls finished college and she embarked on a procession of questionable mates--vows to Everett her dedication to mothering Evie despite her lax upbringing (if my mental math is correct, Evie was born when Cressida was in high school, probably before Cormack's time!) and come what may.Evie does typical teen things--having a party to make friends before she starts public school the next fall and dating two boys to be like Lottie--but she's not a drinker (she thinks the shot glasses her "Grammy Carlotta" gave her were "cute little sample glasses"--one more reason for Lottie to limit their mutual exposure) and thinks intimacy between adults is gross, so there's still hope.
Lottie's meetings with suspects continue, and Noah can't warn her because he's turned in his badge (without explanation, so Ivy and the rest of the department wonder why), but it takes away one of Cormack's bargaining chips: she can't cost him his job if he voluntarily quit! So she can't blackmail him into dating her anymore.
Lottie interrogates Cormack using the name of the former head chef at her family estate, who claims to know "where all the bodies are buried" (she met him on a date with Everett to the chef's NYC restaurant). Cormack says she asked a friend to bury the man Noah killed defending her from his unwanted advances, and she reveals the burial site. Lottie enlists Carlotta to help her dig up the body, hoping it will reveal cause of death as not Noah's gunshot, but both men show up, move the women aside, and dig shirtless until they hit an ancient root system. There's no body there--he's alive!
The influencer murder is also solved, but Noah's subplot wins. Highly recommended!

Every time it’s mentioned that Keelie runs the Honey Pot Diner, I wonder again why Nell didn’t leave the diner to Keelie!! She’s ran it for years she’s Nell’s granddaughter while Lottie is technically Nell’s great niece. Even if you go with the fact Nell raised Carlotta as her daughter making Lottie her once secret granddaughter then the girls are even relationship wise. Plus Nell has another granddaughter, Naomi, Nell couldn’t leave one of her other businesses to her? I get Lottie wasn’t aware of her biological mother or grandmother but she wasn’t raised poorly or loved less by her adoptive family so I don’t get why Lottie inherited so much more. Keelie and Naomi should have inherited something? Nell loved them so why disown them? Just because Lottie got the transmundane gift she’s gets more monetary gifts as well? No wonder her uncle Nell’s son tried to break the will!! Plus Lottie gives away so many of her baked goods that it’s hard to imagine her breaking even let alone making a profit.

This was an interesting pair of mysteries, and one was certainly more surprising to me than the other. The hijinks Lottie and co. get up to kept me laughing, but I feel like the woman really needs to establish some boundaries. (Possibly a minimum level of acceptable behavior from the people around her, too.) I'm fascinated by the dynamics in their love triangle, and from crossover encounters with other series I've seen what their future looks like. I guess I just kind of wish I was at that point right already.

With all the vloggers in town to shoot a food show with Lottie and she serves Strawberry Shortcake Cake which will be the dessert of the day, and this will be the death of someone. Noah needs help from Lottie and Everett. Noah has revealed a secret because of McCormack. She is still causing trouble. But Lottie has help with a little Corgi. Who will be the killer, and will they solve the Noah's secret?

A good mystery.

Lottie has another murder, and a funny ghost pet. She has suspects and motives. She is also investigating a past murder. There is humor, and a love triangle. The ending sets up the story of the next book. A recipe for the strawberry shortcake is included.

So, after reading 21 of the (42?) books in this series I'm calling it a day. Cute story line to begin with but enough already - Everett or Noah? Just make up your mind and be done with it.
Just my opinion.

With each book in this series, I just keep on being hooked, I am in love with the storyline and I love how Addison Moore keeps making me wait to see what Lottie eventually does. I find myself just wanting more and more with each book and she knows how to keep us waiting. She is such a talented writer, but at the same time her mind actually worries me because I have no idea how much longer she is going to keep us all in suspense with Lottie’s choices. Addison has created another master piece and the story is just getting better and better. I have no idea what she has stored for us next, but knowing Addison, she likes to keep us on our toes. I do feel a lot for Lottie in this one because all she wants to do is help Noah, but he’s determined to not actually put her in harms way, but still he’s still allowing Cormack to control his life. I’d give anything for Addison to finally write her out of the book or better yet to kill her off because she’s seriously just a thorn that doesn’t need to be there. I’m hoping that Addison finally puts us out of misery and decides to have all three, Noah, Lottie and Essex together because it would be incredible and the amount of things they would get up to would be incredible.
Overall, I couldn’t fault this book, I loved everything about it and I can’t wait to see how Keelie’s wedding turns out soon.
You need to give these books a read if you’ve not done so already, Addison is a talented writer and she just improves with every book she writes.

Lottie is still reeling from the secret that Noah let slip to her and Essex and honestly, she hates how Noah’s distanced himself from her. What makes things worse is that Cormack is blackmailing him in order to keep him on a leash and away from Lottie…. It’s tearing Lottie apart inside and whilst both Essex and Lottie want to help, Noah is being stubborn and not breathing a word. So whilst Lottie and Essex figure out a plan to save him, Lottie has her hands full with Essex’s daughter Evie, the bakery and doing her best to be there for both Keelie and her sister Lainey, who are both heavily pregnant. You’d think that Lottie would be bursting to just get a break and have some time to herself, but nope… her life is in full force. So when disaster strikes at her bakery and another murder happening, Lottie ups her game and hopes to find the culprits for not 1 but two crimes. Will she succeed or will her attempts at saving Noah end up with her behind bars???
