Alpha Origins

Rate this book
Hundreds of years ago, a group of Alaskan explorers crossed a glacier in search of their fortune. When the storm blew in, the ice was their only refuge. But they found more than they expected deep inside that glacial cave.

A gift.

A curse.

A secret.

Whichever it was, they emerged as more than human.

They emerged as Alaska Alphas.

❄~❄~❄

Welcome to the world of Aurora Shifters, where magic comes to life beneath the northern lights, and the wilderness isn't the only place to find fur and fangs.

About Aurora Shifters: We are a collaboration of Alaskan authors who decided to put our own Arctic spin on hot paranormal shapeshifters. Look for wolves, bears, moose, ravens, seals, and many, many others. Each book stands on its own, with a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhangers, but be warned - once you read one, you'll want them all.

Tielle (pronounced "teal") St. Clare has had life-long love of romance novels. She began reading romances in the 7th grade when she discovered Victoria Holt novels and began writing romances at the age of 16 (during Trigonometry, if the truth be told). During her senior year in high school, the class dressed up as what they would be in twenty years-Tielle dressed as a romance writer.

When not writing romances, Tielle has worked in public relations and video production for the past 20 years. Tielle moved to Alaska when she was seven years old in 1972 when her father was transferred with the military.

Tielle believes romances should be hot and sexy with a great story and fun characters.

A short Origin story ;-)

I stumbled upon this story after reading bewitched shifter & was curious about the Aurora shifters origin & how they found the glacier, so grabbed it (it was free too, so no brainer😁)

The story is pretty good. Loved the excerpts from the 1st 3 books of the Series!

Introduction story

Just an introduction to the story. How they became shifters. Nothing special actually just a very short origin story. I liked it regardless and looking forwards reading about the romance part on the following books

The origins story feels surprisingly realistic. The bitter cold, the relief when shelter is found, the sight of the aurora borealis - those resonate. The excerpts that follow promise expansions on the world revealed by the origins story that will be full of scrapping, growth and romance. On an emotional level - excerpts?! You authors are torturers. You throw us these teeeny snippits and get us hooked and hold back on the rest of the fix! Torturers I say!

Wasn't impressed.

This was too weird and implausible, and you have no time frame- 1800's? 1900's? Also bird shifters, seal or aquatic shifters, or mermen, have never been a romantic, paranormal, interest of mine. Right up there with Angel's or zombies. I'll stick to dragon, wolf, bear, or cat shifters, thank you very much.

Great start!

I loved the story itself but it was way too short. It was just like an introduction to the other books, not a full book itself. The rest were excerpts to three other books, also not full books. Hopefully the books themselves are actually full books, if so they should be good.

Short but Intriguing. As a short prequel to the Alaska Alphas, there was enough there to get you interested in the next book. Is there more magic than what you might think? Well, on to the next book!

A good start to a series but frustrating as so many questions are left unanswered. As this is the origin story of the series, it is not as if we would meet these characters again.

Alpha Origins is a short, quick prequel type story for the Alaska Alpha's series (by three authors). I say prequel type, because it doesn't involve any characters you will see in subsequent books. The series is about shifters living in Alaska and their trials on the way to love. This little book is the tale of how they became shifters in the first place.

It's short but entertaining and makes a good addition to the series. You can read it at any point as it's essentially a historical retelling.

The quick origins story to set up the series. Three men are traversing a glacier in Alaska sometime in the 1800's. They take not of the amazing aroura borealis that is taking place above their head. One of them remarks that it is an unusually vivid one.

They find themselves about to be caught in a snowstorm with no shelter, so they manage to find a cave within the glacier. After winding around curves and turns they enter a large open cave that is much warmer and has a running source of water. The three frontier men take drinks from the water and immediately feel "funny". One is turned into a crow, the other turns into a seal, and the narrator turns into a wolf. Eventually, they wake up, naked and human. After leaving the cave (which ends up almost caving in on them), they find an abandoned shack where they hole up for a few months to get a handle on their new "other selves". After a few months they decide to go back to their previous lives and keep their new changes a secret, agreeing to return in a year (I think) to compare notes.

That's about it, but there are teaser chapters of upcoming books in the series after this. A very, very short read.
