In 2854, Section 9 operative Tycho Barrett must exfiltrate a key witness from the Martian city-state of Hellas. Framed for the murder of an influential leader, Section 9 is left scattered and exposed deep within hostile territory. Tycho and Section 9 must now cross the eastern half of the divided city to reach the safety of the west. Along the way, enemies of all kind will hunt them, including corporate enforcers, syndicate bounty hunters, and a specialized unit of monstrous technological chimera. With enemies on all sides, Tycho has little hope of survival. But Arbiter are made to defy death, and Tycho is no exception.
First of all let me say the story was very good, fast paced plenty of action. The problem I do not like in the book is the main character Tycho is not the most compelling character. He’s not a very compelling hero or main protagonist. During the book he either has his mouth open, gaping at something, too slow to move, amazed, doesn’t really seem to be with it. He was originally an arbor tour and then became a section 9 agent so he should have plenty of training. It seems throughout the book he was being amazed was surprised by something. Also his propensity to run off to try to be a white night is incongruous to what a spy really does. If I was a Facebook person I would contact the author directly, Because I would like to know what he wants his main character to be. Either is an arbor door or a section 9 agent, can’t be both. As I said I like the story I wish I could give it more stars but the main character annoys me. May read the next book not sure you may like it give it a shot.
I know, surprised me too. While maybe showing my age the story was essentially the team fighting its way from one side of East Berlin to the other, then arriving at the Wall, crossing.... and that’s it. No ending. Instead a setup for the next book in the series. I personally like a feel good ending, before being sent on to the next story. It is possible in the goal of having a series to stretch the story too thin, and thus you lose some readers. You keep writing but I’m done.
Like previous books in the series totally ridiculous and impossible situations keep repeating throughout the story. It is unbelievable how many times situations arise where the main characters meet total death but never die. Receiving minor cuts and bruises after being cut to shreds by blade wielding cyborgs or crushed by out of control maglev trains. I definitely cannot recommend this book or the other books in the Sol Arbiter series.
I don't know why but I didn't go into this book expecting much. But the book was excellent, characters Lively, action as good as always with JN Chaney. Story flood very nicely, a few twists and turns, do you sad moments, some impossible heroics. All in all very good story definitely read it.
Well another cracking story..total shame about Brat I would have thought I'd anyone was going to get killed it would be Veraldo. Totally looking forward to the next book...
Another good read about our old sol arbitor turned spy. Like before it seems to take a long time to read but thats because of how many pages there is. Read this i am looking for the next installment as soon as i have posted this.
This one is nonstop action from beginning to end with so many secrets it’s hard to keep track. Tyco has to make a lot of hard decisions and really shows his humanity and get to see some of his teams humanity as well
Read it cover to cover, finally tycho with his new team and the dynamics between them is just on point, their interactions are the highlights of the novel. Cant wait to start the next one
Can say, with my other reviews it's captivating. It wasn't necessarily repetitive as some books are. A little slow but like some shows/ movies you need fillers and back stories and even with that it's still interesting to read and I enjoyed it
While entertaining this novel, at least to me, read like a futuristic version of the 1979 movie The Warriors. A train ride through hell, in this case Mars, crossing through rival gang territory.
