Still reeling from the tragic events that threw his life into turmoil, Abraham Jenkins now rides the lonely roads as a delivery man. Until one day fate intervenes…

Abraham is suddenly catapulted into a bizarre fantasy world unlike anything he's ever imagined. A world of assassins, monsters, and brutal lords. To survive, he must lead a notorious group known as the King's Henchmen on a do or die mission.

Surrounded by henchmen who don't trust him, and a ruthless king’s death sentence hanging over his head, Abraham must do whatever it takes to live long enough to save a kingdom in chaos and figure out how to return home. Because even a humdrum life on the road beats braving a bloody kingdom in chaos.

When you are about to buy and read a multi-volume sci-fi/fantasy series, you probably want some assurance that your investment, in terms both of money and reading time, will be repaid. When you dive into such an epic saga, one of the most important elements to consider is the quality of the characters. So, having read Craig Halloran's The Henchmen Chronicles Collection: A Portal Fantasy Adventure Series, I can tell you a few things about them, hopefully without revealing any plot spoilers.

Halloran's characters jump right out of the page and into your heart. As you get deeper into the series, you discover that for some reason or other you care about them. In the Henchmen Chronicles, some characters are good to the core and will always remain so. Some others are so villainous that your only hope will be that they will get what they deserve in the end. Some characters will be instantly loveable; others, rather the opposite. You will discover some flawed characters that you sincerely hope will change their ways before the end. You may run across one or more somewhat annoying characters who may yet win you over. Some characters are so loyal that you will wish they were *your* friends.

What will you not find? In the five volumes of Halloran's Henchmen Chronicles collection, what you will not find is any boring, lifeless character.

As for adventure, you are in Craig Halloran's very capable hands. In the 386 chapters of the _Henchmen Chronicles Collection_, not even counting the free extra backstory, there is nearly non-stop action. Hardly any character ever gets more than one night of good sleep! Through plot twist after plot twist, over all types of terrain, you will be surprised by surprises. I dare you to put Henchmen down for more than a few minutes!

So, never fear, the excitement is here!

Wonderful collection

This collection is about a washed up pro baseball player who drove through a portal into another universe. He entered into the body of the Captain of the Henchmen and learned a lot about himself and the people around him. There are so many characters here and great action that I can see each character in my mind. A great series for everyone. I don’t write reviews very well but you have to read this series.

I will say first of all that this fast paced book not only kept my attention, it became one of those series that I had to devour, and just read every free minute. The last book literally kept me up till 4am to finish, I just could not put it down. Every chapter ended with me "having" to read the next immediately!
At first I was a little apprehensive because of the time travel/world portals, however the author wove them in perfectly. They fit the storyline well and was not forced in any way.
The only complaint I would have is that one of the main antagonist transformed on the last few pages with zero explanation as to what he became or why he was able to be controlled in the first place. Kinda seemed the editor said this enough words already, so cut it short. That said it did not take away from the books as a whole and I would now suggest to anyone searching for a new series to read to pick this one and get ready for an exciting ride with moral heroes leading the way!

Great new series from Craig Halloran

While being totally different from previous series, what remains the same is a super-strength hero, lots of action and adventure, magic in the world, and good core values in all the good guys. I enjoyed the entire series, and couldn't stop reading it.

Best series yet

I have read several of Halloran’s series now and The Henchmen Chronicles is my favorite set thus far. Fast-moving and successfully interwoven story lines with a surprise ending (if you’ve read another collection but I won’t spoil the ending by relating which one). Ken

Man, Halloran Rules!

Not one of his many series isn’t excellent and this one is no exception. The best part about them is that he doesn’t murder the characters he makes you love. No one should be disappointed in any of his books. If you are, then you must not like reading as much as I do.

A good series to get into

Throughout the whole series, there were good parts and bad parts, but overall, the story had a good flow to it and kept me wanting to see what happened next.

Book 5 deserves its own star rating of 5.

Interesting take on scifi with some fantasy tied in.

Generally a fast read and well thought out and great characters. Gives readers a good gauge to how our world is as screwed up as it seems to be right now.

Solid!

This series is exactly what it should. The author knew exactly what he was doing and he did it. The story is fun and exciting and the writing style fits right in. Halloran did try too hard, he just executed.

Ending or cliff-hanger

Great cliff hanger, even for a decent ending. Characters are thought out well enough for short stories to be enjoyable and entertaining.

Pretty good, not my usual

Other than a few pacing issues, very enjoyable. Not my usual fantasy read. Hopefully we get to see what happens.

I was smitten by a smooth cover. The story moved too briskly at times for such a massive tome. Things wrapped up rather abruptly.

One of the best epic fantasies I've read in a long while. Great characters, plenty of action, and a superior blending of two worlds. It's worth the read.

Henchmen

Seriously wasn't sure what to expect. I've liked all the Nath Dragon books.
This set was very good. I liked the soul swapping aspect and the mystic/technology combination. I read through the books like binge watching a TV series.

Super collection of adventurers braving all.

Super romp through a fantasy world full of the kind of people that you would want to be there. Join this together with time tunnel, sliders, Gor and Thomas Covenant and it makes for a great action packed tale of sword and sorcery .. Oh and a smattering of baseball as well.... Intrigued? You should be.... Now read on

What a series. Great characters and story flows well. I love that there are some hooks between Craig's different series. My only complaint is that there aren't more to read!
