This book was good. It had enough words and enough pictures. One of my favorite parts was when they took Blaze out of the nest because they were trapped. It was an adventure book.

Tag and Skyla stood in a dusty clearing and examined the magical map.

This is a cute story, with animal main characters who are on a quest. This is the first book of the series I read, but the kids at school love it. There is an introduction at the beginning of the book to remind kids what the characters are currently facing (the story continues from book to book). The Branches books are a gentle bridge into chapter books for early readers. They still have pictures, but the stories are more complex and interesting. A great series for kids who like magical animals and adventure.

This was our read aloud last week and is the 8th book in The Last Firehawk series. Skyla and Tag continue looking for Blaze and find her hidden in a giant bird’s nest. Skyla falls victim to a poisonous glitter and they have to rely on an untrusted new character that appears. Claw introduces himself as the innocent twin of Thorn — but who is he really?

This was another fun installment to this series. Deciding whether to trust Claw created a great discussion about his true identity (is he really Thorn’s twin or could it be Thorn pretending?) and about how people gain our trust. I’m excited to read the next book and see how our predictions play out.

from the desk of a five year old: "It was cool. I liked the croco-dragon. Bye, bye bye byeee."

At the end of each book they have questions and one of them was "Can you think of your own animal that would live in the Cloud Kingdom?"

He came up with a catophant. An elephant and a cat mixed together. It was pretty good.

Started this series with my 6 and 4 year old sons on this book. Big mistake. They loved it so much and gave me so much crap for not starting at number 1! This series was fun to read aloud to them. Great for getting my son to read a few words. We have got book 1 and are now on our journey in the cloud kingdom.

Read-aloud to kindergartner with no attention span. This was the second chapter book ever that we actually finished -and she actually begged me to read it to her each night. And I didn’t want to stab my eyes out like with certain other early readers (*cough cough*Dragon Masters). So I would consider it a success!

Book clubbing it with my 9 year old son. These really are perfect for the targeted audience. Creative and simple for a nice introduction into the genre and nurturing the love of reading.

My son is very curious to see if claw is actually claw or if its thorn pretending to be someone else.

This series is very mediocre. My 3rd grader is into it though, so that counts for a lot.
