Kent She set me up. This cute little woman with the big eyes and the sweet words framed me. Now I’m serving a jail sentence thanks to her tricks. But I’m no fool. Layla is clearly a highly trained operator who decided to take me out of the equation. My contract to eliminate Graham Tucker—owner of the Fill-A-Friend stuffed animal chain—hangs by a thread, and I have to get this kill before Layla steals it out from under me. The day I’m released is the day I’ll take my vengeance on that cunning assassin with innocent eyes. And then I’ll take out Graham Tucker and close my contract with the Brotherhood.
Layla Pandacorns are my bestsellers. Seriously. I can make a pandacorn, post it on Etsy, and it’s gone within an hour. Working at Fill-A-Friend pays the bills so I can work on my real passion—one-of-a-kind stuffies that have my own personal flair. But Fill-A-Friend can be demanding and sometimes intense, especially since I’m accident prone (one time I left the cotton stuffing machine on. Whoops.) Or like that time when I got rid of a bunch of ugly stuffed dogs and some random guy stole them and went to jail over it. Yikes. Anyway, things are going okay until Kent shows up in my life. And then they get so much better. He’s kind, caring, and supportive of my stuffie-making. The only issue is that he says weird stuff about “our line of work” when we don’t even do the same thing, but he’s handsome and amazing, so I don’t mind. In fact, I think I’m falling for him. My stuffie business and my personal life are headed in the right direction . . . Until Mr. Tucker comes to inspect the store and things go terribly, horribly wrong.
Couple years ago I said I love spaghetti bolognese so much I could eat it every day for a month and still love it. So my partner challenged me to do so.. First week was great I enjoyed every plate of pasta put in a front of me and just couldn't get enough. On the week two I still ate the noodles but I was not enjoying it as much as before. The third week was my undoing and after that I haven't touched spaghetti for almost 2 years.
Well. This book is week no 2 for me. All books before this one by MINK were my absolute favourite and I just couldn't get enough. Now I feel like every single book taste the same and as much as I like that trope I am slowly getting fed up with the repetitiveness. It's either Mrs MINK is going to change the dish and come up with something new or I am gonna have my undoing and will put this author down for a little break.
The story is still great IF... You haven't read other ones in such a short amount of time in between.
Kent was set up.. or so he thinks he has a plan a revenge plan but since the brotherhood wont get him out he has to wait. 2 months later he is spying and confused how Layla another assassin can be this deep undercover 🤣🤣🤣 she has friends, she to adorable and innocent. But he has a job and he is letting her get the kill.
Little does he knoe Layla is not even a killer only thing she ever killed is a stuffie. Once they run into eachother their is some sparks and wired questions from Kent that has Layla confused, but that doesnt stop him from spending time with her and her cat, and making sure another guy doesnt take her time away from him. He gets to know her more.. it isnt until she says something that was a mistake that had a box of stuffies stolen. Now he knows shes not assassin and shes innocent. Now he has a choice do his job or ruin Laylas dream.

A great premise- in which a hitman hero confuses a stuffed toy owner of being his competitor. He gets imprisoned because of her, then decides to take revenge while she is hella confused by this hot guy who keeps hinting about her "business" when all she wants to do is make fluffy toys to make kids happy. The execution was OK, I think we could have explored him spying on her more. The whole reveal was anticlimactic, and felt underwhelming.
Layla loves making stuffies and wants to expand, she only needs to get her designs before the shop owner. Kent has spent the last two months in jail after being set up. Now he’s back to take out revenge. Only the girl that set him up is not what he expected. Falling for her was not the plan. He still has his target for the brotherhood, but is it worth ruining the love he never expected?

This was cute. Who thought a take on working in a Build a Bear Workshop could be intriguing? Well it was! Kent has his hands full and is blinded by his obsession with Layla. Sweet and steamy, great dialogue. Completely safe and OTT hero!
I never get tired of this author's bizarre and hilarious style. She blends murderous comedy with the sweetest smut romance. And I gobble it up like honey.
In this story, the couple is to die for. Literally.
Layla is a naïve employee at a stuffed animals toy store, where she dreams of selling her own adorable stuffies she designs and makes at home. Prone to accidents, she unknowingly thwarts an assassin's mission to kill her boss. And he wants revenge!
I couldn't laugh more with the whole debacle. He is obsessed with her double life, and the contrast of his assumptions that she is a cunning operative and the actual innocence of the poor girl is extremely funny. I loved sweet Layla and her creative stuffies and her regal cat. The interactions with the assassin, Kent, are both fun and lovely. And they fall in love, of course. Steam and food ensue. Perfection!
What about the hit on her boss? That’s madness with its own plot of death, professional tactics, practical friends, and dreams come true. And the epilogue sparks with so much romance and stuffies. One of my favourites.
A hilariously epic read that I devoured. Mink delivers again with this steamy read.
It’s got it all, hit men, mafia connections, and the sweet and innocent Layla smack in the middle.
When Kent our lead finally gets out of jail, his goal is to track down the woman who put him there. He thinks she a rival assassin attempting to get to his target before him. In reality she’s what she seems. An innocent who’s mission is to make one of a kind stuffed animals.
Layla thinks Kent’s a little strange, but that doesn’t stop the overwhelming attraction she has to him.
Two people who think the totally wrong thing about the other, it’s complicated but it’s also hilarious.
Chemistry is hot hot. Banter is gold. Secondary characters are engaging, and it’s a must read.
Absolutely adorable!!! This book ofc didnt lack any steamyness. I loved the mention of the other characters as well like always lol but especially of the Davincis hehe
Who knew being so clumsy and not being a fan of doggies could land you the hitman if your dreams. Certainly not accident prone Layla. Outrageously funny. Highly recommend. I read an advanced copy of this book.
Absolutely adorable and sexy as all get out! Kent had me in stitches thinking that Layla was an operative. All Layla wants is to design her stuffies and show them to the owner of Fill-A-Bear to maybe, hopefully become one of his designers. Once he gets close to Layla, Kent is hooked and he doesn't even realize it. Layla's knack for mishaps was so cute, it made her extremely likable as well. Another winner from the crazy talented Mink!
This was a hilarious romantic read about Kent and Layla. Layla is sweet, naive and oblivious to her surroundings. Kent is out for revenge but when he sees Layla, all bets are off. This story was full of laughter, heat and love. I couldn't stop reading until I finished this wonderful, funny, thrilling, beautiful love story. Loved this addition to this awesome series. Can't wait to read more by MINK.
This one actually made me laugh a few times. That’s unique for a quick insta love story. At least for me. He thinks she an assassin. He is an assassin. As assassin who just spent two months in jail because of her. He also thinks she’s his competition on a kill. Lol!
this is so very cutesy - with sparkles, glitters, and stuffies
mmc thought fmc set him up, thats why he got sent to jail lol, but fmc was so oblivious to everything she thought mmc was just saying weird stuffs when they finally met after mmc got out of jail
This was legitimately absurd but it was exactly what I was in the mood for. After two weeks of DNFs, this has been the first book to hold my attention.
Plot: Layla works for a Build-a-Bear-type company and has so many ideas that she wants to share with the owner. But in the course of her work, she accidentally sends Kent to jail (and doesn't even realize what happened, to be honest). Once he's out, he has two things to do: fulfill his contract on the owner of Layla's company and get revenge on Layla. But what if he has it all wrong?
Commentary: This is my favorite Mink story of all time - it made me laugh so hard! I also love that there are references to her other books and characters throughout all of her stories (as in, we get to see pandacorns show up in later books). Poor Layla is a walking disaster, but she has a big heart and a creative streak a mile wide. She is fun, quirky, sweet - all the things that make up a good Mink heroine. Kent is a little more hardened than you would expect at first, but I suppose it makes sense after he just got out of prison. But the way that he really thought Layla was an assassin, that her cluelessness was just part of her disguise, was so hilarious, and just added to her confusion. That's part of what made it even funnier. As I said, this was my favorite. There have been other Mink books with more clueless/innocent/naive heroines, but none this (unintentionally) funny!

What starts as a revenge mission for Kent turns into something he never believed he'd have in his life.
2 months ago, Kent was involved in a high speed chase and sent to jail. He always believed that Layla put the stolen stuffed animals in his getaway car to sweep in and take his contract from him. When the Brotherhood refuses to bail him out to teach him a lesson, he's got nothing but time to stew and plan his revenge. But things aren't what they seem with Layla. She insisted on getting rid of the stuffies due to pieces that could be considered a danger to younger children. Working at Fill-a-Friend is just a way to pay the bills and pay for the supplies for her true passion...making pandacorn stuffies, or more like unique stuffies on her Etsy page to please children. When Kent walks into the picture Layla isn't sure what to think or do. But she's sure she's falling in love with the big brute. But will she be able to get past the fact that at one time Kent wanted to get revenge on her? Will she be able to get past his career choice?
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this title**
Stuffed was about Layla Trentholm, a college graduate with an Etsy business, and Kent (no last name given), an assassin for the Brotherhood. This was a bit more of a rom-com than an Insta-love story. Layla was a ditzy, yet creative young woman who got into more trouble than she stayed out of. When Kent was given a contract to take out her boss, he ended up in jail for two months because (HE thought) he had been "set up" by another "assassin" (AKA Layla) so she could make the hit herself. It was a case of mistaken identity, one which took Kent forever to realize because he truly thought she was a rival assassin bent on making the hit first. The whole thing was a riot to read and it made for an interesting distraction from the "normal" Insta-love stories. If you're looking for something different, you've found it in spades. If you want the usual "quickie" of Insta-love/spice, while it has spice and the Insta-love, be prepared for it to slap you in the face with its incongruity to the genre. I gave it a three-and-a-half star rating, rounded up to four, just for the hell of it, because the humor was OTT.
Kent and Layla... their story is not all that believable but it is a bit humorous and silly, with some instalove and spice thrown in there. He's an assassin working for the Brotherhood, but he's gotten into some trouble lately. He blames Layla, thinking she's a rival assassin who set him up to get arrested so she could take out his target herself...but he is not even close to correct. She knows nothing about contract hits or the Brotherhood. She just works as a regular employee for the target of the hit (Mr Tucker). She makes custom stuffed animals in her spare time. Kent gets close to Layla in order to know Mr Tucker's schedule, but he eventually realizes Layla is not an assassin and he cares about making her happy so when the time comes to actually kill Mr Tucker, Kent changes his mind. Luckily Mr Tucker bites it anyway so Kent doesn't have to worry about the Brotherhood coming after him. And then Kent and Layla live HEA. Kent retires, and Layla keeps making custom stuffies with their daughter Lucy in the epilogue.

Tropes: Assassin x his culprit Insta love Hot protective alpha hero Kind cute sassy heroine HEA and kids 2.75/5🌶️
He’s apart of the brotherhood but has spent 2 months in jail as a lesson and was falsely framed. He vowed to kill the person who framed him and he thinks that she framed him so he targets her to kill her but she’s so an innocent fluffy stuffed animal making woman. He quickly realised it’s not her and tries to find the real person they want him to kill and turns out Mr. Tucker is the target and he’s the owner of the stuffed animal shop she works at. His third wife was the one who put the hit on him which was rather surprising but also normal with how he treated her. Glad he died from the sowing machine. His secret as a hitman comes out and he makes it up to her over and over again🤭. She forgives him so easily like we need a bit of grovelling. He gets out of the brotherhood but does clean ups sometimes.
Stuffed is fun and exciting glimpse back into the world of the Brotherhood. We are gifted the ability to get to know another member who is enthralled and captured by love. It's exhilarating to see a hunter brought down by his prey in the most unsuspecting and innocent of ways. I was carried away in a sea of bliss as I watched these two circle each other before they finally gave in and let love open their heart to so much more. What a fun and enjoyable story!
Mink has left me with a huge smile on my face yet again. She has shown me that no matter how jaded I think I get, she always brings me to my knees as I face a love that is completely undeniable and so very right that no one can stand in its way. She has fast become a favorite author of mine, and I always look forward to her next work of literary art that never fails to make my heart sing.
I’m conducting a little experiment. I recently read that if you think your writing stalls in certain scenes, i.e. the love scene, fight scene… to dedicate a week, two weeks, a month, to reading everything you can in that genre. In this case, I was thinking my writing needed more visceral description, well what could be more visceral than smut?
Sweet and funny. A classic case of a misunderstanding gone haywire: Layla is obsessed with stuffies, and wants nothing more than to be recognized at her work, Fill-A-Friend. Kent is obsessed with Layla, thinking she is an operative in his assassins circle, and the one who set him up. Sparks fly and brows are raised as the two get to know, and misunderstand, each other in this sweet, short romantic comedy.
