Do you know how many post boxes there are in the UK? Could you guess how many times the word 'goat' appear in the King James Version of the bible? Fancy playing a game of charades where all of the books, films and plays are entirely made up? Now, look around the room. Is anyone there the kind of person who'll say 'I just don't understand this', when faced with something that's not just perfectly easy to understand, but is ... well, fun?
Ask them to leave.
Have they gone? Good.

Borrowed with future Zoom quizzes in mind only to end up playing along as I read it. A very enjoyable read with lots of new games and old favourites for fans of the show.
I love the TV series, and thought I would really enjoy this book too. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. There is nothing wrong with the book. There are some interesting bits about how the rounds and questions are chosen, and there is a full range of interesting questions to try out on your unsuspecting partner and friends. But, it is not the same as watching the show on TV. Too many bits and bobs are required to make some of the rounds work, and I ended up losing patience with it. Still, it is a handy source of some great general knowledge questions.
Good book. You do need a quiz master which means they can't really play. Would be much better if the questions came as a set of cards to be turned over/selected rather than in a book ( a bit like old-style trivia pursuits).
I’ve been reading this as a sideline to the other two books I’m reading. Although it is a quiz book that you’re meant to play along with - I loved the conversation element between Richard and Alan Connor, where you get some behind the scenes memories and how the game show came about. You can tell which parts are Richard - as they are witty and sarcastic - which I loved from his recent novel (The Thursday Murder Club). Couldn’t ask for anything better really.
With similar rounds as the TV series this mostly works although it's pretty hard to do a music round in a book. Some of the rounds are quite complicated in book form but as a quiz book to test your knowledge and give you ideas for quizzes it's good.
I Love Richard Osman's House of Games, having this book has been Fantastic as it means I can play even when it's not on TV, What else could I want?? Oh yeah to start the next one and hope there are going to be lots more. PLEASE!
A bit irritating as too much conversation between the 2 authors and also too many of the guess the previous competitors from their silhouette questions. It needed more of the actual questions from the show rather than ones made up for the book.
