I didn’t care one bit about the couple.

but.

you are telling me, that after all the shit her dad said, all the things he put her through: purposely ruining her chances of promotion, telling her that her only place was next to man, making sure she’d never work again, and overall being a misogynistic asshole, he doesn’t get what’s coming to him? she doesn’t cut him off? neither does her sister and her mother? they welcome him into their lives??

what happened to him allegedly money laundering I was waiting for his ass to land in prison??

I’m so upset. Like legitimately I’m mad. It ruined the entire book.

Meh

First - the title and description don’t convey the majority of the book. That part is actually cute and funny but falls terribly off course after. Court does his thing and kidnaps the wrong bride, circumstances with that scenario are odd but could have been a fun story if focused there. Then we go down the rabbit hole of Pascal being gender discriminated against by her father of all people who owns the company she works for. That’s the crux of the book, her gender discrimination and court speaking up for her. Then court is somehow an inherited billionaire who doesn’t seem all that intelligent and is pretty aimless. So much dialogue between characters and their friends and family that didn’t serve to set the stage for anything meaningful. Drama with Courts mom that amounts to nothing aside form Court repeatedly refusing to work for the family company. Courts friend Nate is also wealthy, aimless and a jerk. Not much comes of his character. I wanted to quit reading but hoped it would get better - it didn’t. Pages and pages of the same thing with Pascals father being irrationally and strangely pushing her towards an stereotypical old fashioned female role while no one agrees with him, Court being lazy and unfocused yet somehow irresistible, Pascals plight of gender equality forced, excessive unnecessary characters, immature, almost highschool like relationship. Boring and fell flat. The ad popped up and looked so promising with this premise but again the title and blurb are only one small segment of the book.

"Fifty bucks. Plus my heart, if that's still what you want."

THOUGHTS:

- I read this because of TikTok and I can say that I'm sort of disappointed again.
- I love Court's golden retriever energy, which is really not typical for a male lead. If I'm being honest, he's the only reason I got through this book.
- I can't stand the MC's misogynistic father. The dude's annoying from the moment he's introduced until the end of the story. It makes me want to strangle him out of the book.
- I hate how Pascal doubted herself because of her father, and I think she deserves a better family. Sorry, not sorry.

Overall:
I initially liked this book, but when Pascal's father was introduced and how she justify his actions turned me off that I almost DNF'd this book. I honestly think this is an okay read but quite overhyped.

What a cute book! I enjoyed reading it and it made me want to read the other character’s books.

Pascal is a numbers girl. She works at her dad’s financial company and hopes to keep the legacy in the family by earning her place at the company. Little does she know that she’ll only find heartache there.
Court is one of the heirs to a billionaire empire. His father pressures him everyday to work for him but that’s not something Court wants.
These two with such a different mentality and lives will find the perfect path and solutions for all their problems.

This story is super cute, I enjoyed reading it a lot. It’s sweet, captivating and it kept me wanting more. I already added Tony’s book to my tbr.

this was funny, but it read like a wattpad book, and not in a good way. also, he calls her an “easy woman,” but then says it’s okay because he likes women who are “easy for him.” i’m sorry, what? was that supposed to be endearing?

This book was okay. The beginning was hilarious so I was expecting an over-the-top funny romcom (ala Pippa Grant) but the laughs ended pretty quick so that felt a bit misleading and was a let down, honestly.

There's a lot of unresolved plot elements: Pascal's ex's claims about her dad, why have him pop up so many times if he was irrelevant and literally never did anything in the end. Pascal's dad... Why is he such an asshole? How has he never apologized and why is she okay with it? Her mom? Etc. Also Court's mom and dad, they were mentioned so much and I felt very out of the loop the whole book because we're expected to know things from other Nadia Lee books (honestly still very unclear what Court's mom actually did). Either fully explain it in this book or don't bring it up all the time. But yeah no resolution with his parents at all, we never met his dad, his fiancee has apparently never met his dad.. it's just weird. Also wtf is Court doing for work? That was left pretty open ended and honestly not impressed with him lol.

And lastly...romances that don't have epilogues...just no. Joining a newsletter and downloading a 15-page ending to a book that should've been included doesn't count. Authors: please stop doing this.

I didn't like this one as much as Marrying My Billionaire Boss since the relationship between the MCs was based more on mutual attraction and sexual chemistry than anything else. And personally, I find that premise tends to not convince me. However, I did like how the H was all about the h. Although he was pretty much a huge manho before the h, he quickly changed his mind about commitment. Interestingly, the h in this story had lived with several of her exes, which seemed to even things out a little bit between their separate experience levels.

I already read Nate's story, but I am looking forward to Edgar's and Yuna's stories too. Maybe they'll be together? Should be interesting. I actually trust Nadia Lee to write an authentic and convincing Asian character, which is more than I can say about many other authors out there. Make us proud, Ms. Lee! :)

4.5 Stars (rounded up to 5.0)

This was the most innovative “meet-cute” you’ll ever encounter.

STEALING THE BRIDE, Nadia Lee’s latest, was pure fun from start to finish, and totally unexpected after reading the SINS, SECRETS, and MERCY trilogy where our hero Court (aka Harry) first appeared.

It’s Nadia Lee, so of course it’s going to be hot as blazes. It’s Nadia Lee, so of course it’s going to tug at your heartstrings. And it’s Nadia Lee, so of course it’s going to make you laugh. But STEALING THE BRIDE is like no other Nadia Lee book I’ve read, and I’ve read most (if not all).

Laughter? OMG, I giggle-snorted through the first few chapters. The whole fifty dollars thing was creatively funny, not to mention how Court’s attempt to kidnap Pascal at what he thought was her wedding imploded because—well, I don’t want to spoil it for the reader. Suffice it to say I could hardly bear to put it down the same way I couldn’t keep from laughing. I kept telling myself “I’ll stop after this chapter,” but then read a few more pages…and a few more…and…you get my drift.

Then things turned serious, and my heart ached for Pascal and her treatment by her father. She was brilliant at her job, and all she wanted was the recognition she deserved. Was that too much to ask? Court was so incredibly supportive through her emotional lows I found myself thinking “awww, what a sweet man.” Every woman should have a Court in her corner, the same way every woman should have a Court in her bedroom (he he he).

I also loved encountering characters from previous books—Anthony and Ivy, of course, but my favorite is Yuna (please, please, please let us have her story soon!) Nadia Lee has such a deft touch with secondary characters you can’t help but believe they’re real. (Pascal’s twin sister, Curie, and their mother, Esther, are two that come to mind. Even the sisters’ father, Steve, is well drawn, though the way he treated Pascal ticked me off royally). They’re not cardboard characters who merely exist as a backdrop for the hero and heroine, they add color and depth to the story. (Did I mention YUNA? Oh. Right. I did, lol.)

This story had humor and heart in spades. And the ending? I loved how Ms. Lee tied everything back to the fifty dollars that started it all. It seemed…fitting. And cute. And…

I enjoyed this book. I wasn't too sure of Court in the beginning, but boy did he steal my heart. There is more to him then he gives himself credit for. He has a big heart which we experience through out he book. Stealing of the bride scene is quite memorable and gives you the true picture of Court. That was my tipping point on my view of him. Pascal, she has my sympathy because she has a run of bad luck at work. All that had me outraged for Pascal's behalf. I loved Pascal and Court together. They just fit just like puzzle pieces. They have a ton of chemistry that burns up the pages. I was also invested in the secondary characters. You know an author wrote a good book if you;re into the secondary characters as much as the main characters. I also enjoyed the humor that is in this book. It has the feels, but it had me me laughing as well.

Wow!

This book is fab! I admit that when I read the description, I wasn't sure how it would all come together ... but boy did it! It's got Klingon language, family drama, twins, and strong characters in this "one that got away" standalone book with favorites from Ms. Lee's other books.

The author, of whom I am a huge fan, has really done a terrific job with Court and Pascal (love that name). They have smoking hot chemistry, dialogue that will make you sigh, and a plot / subplot that is well written and comes together. In short, this is a F.U.N. read with some serious undertones yet is lighthearted and funny. The supporting characters are well developed and makes me think (ok, hope) that they will soon be featured in their own books with Court and Pascal woven in.

If you haven't read any of Ms. Lee's books, grab this one. But WARNING! You'll want to ignore the laundry, kiddos, Hubs, ... LIFE and read this cover to cover. If you are a fan of the author's books, this is a great addition to what you likely already know to be a rich body of work.

....cutting to the chase: Download this book. You'll be happy you did!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

3.5 ⭐️(mostly for the heroine)
So I'm gonna be honest, I've had this review in my notes since 2021 and I'm just now getting around to actually publishing it yes, I'm a lazy bitch
From what I wrote I can tell that I really liked the heroine, enough to add her to the "loved the heroine" tag and I don't have many tags there. I didn't write anything about the hero, so I didn't particularly love him but didn't hate him either.
Dual POVs.

Safety:
-safe
-H was a manwhore before meeting the h
-neither are virgins
-OW drama: an old one night stand makes an appearance
-OM drama: thinking she was getting married I guess counts??, her ex comes back but it's just for one scene

It started as an anonymous one night stand. When Pascal “skittles” leaves in the middle of the night and $50 behind, Court “whiskey” wants revenge. He thought hey had something special.

Cute romance. Their one night stand turns into casual and eventually love. Enjoyed how much Court stands up for Pascal and vice versa.

Personally felt like the family drama was unnecessary - on both sides. Especially since it doesn’t lead to much.

I expected this to be a little cringey and the start it was. She was an interesting character I loved her attitude and was so glad she stood up to her dad. This was a very feminist sort of book regardless if he helps her out.

Always entertaining!

Nadia always write fun romantic stories....omg Klingon? The mellinials might not realize this is from the original Starwars. Hilarious and cute all the way, I like the emphasis on the value of ones woman's role in the society. Really Steve!!! Ugh dads like that should wake up its the 20th century not the stone age lol. Overall lovely to read and very entertaining not much drama but good lessons to take note of.

Stealing the Bride by Nadia Lee
Court first notices the sexy Pascal in the queue to the Z Club. Determined to meet her, he has her bumped up in the queue, one thing leads to another, and they leave the club together. One night and no real names. One hot night of passion. Court wants more of the sexy vixen but when he awakes, he finds she has left him a fifty dollar – he can’t work it out, is this for his bad performance, best performance, the room or she thought he was a cheap date? Perplexed he needs to find her. Tracing down her tab at the club, he finds out she is about to be wed, but he is determined to find her and stop the wedding. Except, instead, he finds her double. Pascal can’t believe Court has found her but she also can’t deny her attraction to the man. Can these two make a go of it, or will outside influences push them off course? How do I sum this book up? Well, the prologue of the book was good, funny and even cute. And then it just fell flat and went off course. The build-up of Court's family and his mother never really wrapped up and you just had a reference of it. Pascal’s father and his beliefs also were never justified and I really felt there should have been a better reason for what he did to her. The book just fell flat for me and was very wishy-washy. I needed more concrete reasoning for why certain people did certain things. Also, Court went from this very sexy Alpha to a bit of a pushover. So unfortunately for me, it was just an okay read, had some cute and funny moments that kept me entertained and that’s where I will leave it.

Couldn't put it down

Love the names in this books Pascal and Currie. Pascal meets Court & they share a night together but they haven't exchanged names. Court calls Pascal skittles and she calls him Whiskey. The next day Pascal leaves a $50 bill & Court is dumbfounded why & he becomes obsessed with finding her. He found that she rans a tab at the club where they met but it's under her twin sister's name Currie. Court finds out she's getting married in Maui so he goes to Maui and steals the bride thinking it's Pascal, only to find out it's Currie. Pascal is determined to get a promotion at the family firm only to discover her father has been holding her back because he thinks she should find a man to take care of her. Pascal finds a different job and falls for Court.

Stealing the Bride - Nadia Lee

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a wonderfully refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable story by Nadia Lee.
I’ve not read her work before but I certainly will be looking at reading more in the future.

Her characters were brilliantly fun and quirky, bouncing some fabulously fun banter between them.

Court and Pascal had seriously scorching chemistry from the outset and it only got hotter as the book went on. Even the supporting characters like Nate and Yuna held their own, creating a wonderfully fun cast of characters.

A great story, masterfully written and a pleasure to read.

What a wild and wacky story this turned out to be. Court has just spent the night with a woman who inspires him on more than a physical level but when she is gone the next morning he is determined to track her down even if it means abducting her from her wedding.

His plan works to perfection except for one small detail and that is when the excitement really begins.

Hot chemistry, a little drama, great characters and all the feels as this story takes you on adventure that has you invested in their happy ever after.

Disclaimer - I’m on a mission at the moment to find new, amazing books to add to my bookshelves. So my tolerance for books I’m not immediately sucked into is pretty low. I’m looking for engaging writing, well-developed characters, and engrossing plot lines.

This started with a rom-com sort of vibe. I didn’t like the writing - it was a bit stilted. And chapter one didn’t grab me.

I usually have my tolerance than this, maybe I’ll give it another go one day, but right now life is too short for books that don’t grab me.

Stealing the Bride by Nadia Lee is a fun, sassy, sweet and steamy read. Court and Pascal have this instant chemistry that ran red-hot. It burned hotter as the story progressed. Get ready for a fantastic time full of feels, romance, passion, pet names(oh yea!!)and a cast of supporting characters. This was just an amazing read that will have you wanting more of the Skittles & Whiskey fun.

This book was 400 pages too long. Nothing gets resolved in this. The male main character is as dull and bland as can be. Also, his best friend called her whilst drunk and called her a bitch because she was rightly confused and upset about an obvious bribe Blandy McDick placed at her work?

Finally, where’s the justice for Tiffany? As far as I could read, she did nothing wrong. But hey, let’s tear a woman down because she’s not as “intelligent” and has fake tits.

Simple, adorable love story. Nothing wrong with it, there just wasn’t a huge, convoluted plot line on top of the romance. The characters were all entertaining. Felt kinda king considering not a ton happened, but I loved how supportive the MMC was for the FMC and her career and family issues.

After a one night stand neither Pascal nor Court wants to end their arrangement. One problem, they didn’t exchange names and she left before he woke up leaving a 50 dollar bill behind. As revenge for finding out she did not only leave him after their night together and is about to get married to another man, he desires to kidnap the bride. Only problem is that it turned out it was the twin sister.

The review is not going to match the railing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book. It has a promising storyline. The first chapter takes place right when he runs away with the bride on his shoulder. It’s a fun scene but wasn’t the overall plot or the story. It had an impact of what’s about to take place but not in the way you think. It just happened a and is kind of brushed of. Pascal and Court start seeing each other and everyone more or less forgets about the wedding incident.

What I did not like was the act that made Pascal “break up” with Court. I didn’t find that Court did anything wrong. Her action was forced and was only to further the story along and get them to realize how they really feel about each other, even though they already knows the answer before. Let’s not forget the ex boyfriend that appeared quit frequently through out the book but had literally no impact on the story.

DNF @35%

A bit of miscommunication that I hated ig? Mixed thoughts. Would've been better if I've read the other books by Nadia because they're like interconnected (kind of). The whole point of stealing the wrong girl was fine but short (only for a chapter or two). Solid smut. Likable characters. Hated the dad-like what the fuck you sexist fuck. But yea, solid.

Is this “Say ‘Yes’ to the dress”, or is this “Say ‘Yes’ to the SLUT?!” -Is my current favorite tiktok sound. That was constantly playing in the background of my brain the entire time I read this. It doesn’t relate at all to the book, just the title.

This book was like dumb cute and fluffy. It felt as warm as a Hallmark original movie. 🥰🥰
