A hundred years ago Earth was invaded by the Yarek, aliens with weapons of mass destruction. Humans were on the brink of annihilation when the Totiv, another alien race who wanted Earth to survive for their own sinister purposes, fought alongside us.
A decade later, the Totiv and Human collective defeated the Yarek. A treaty was forged as a way of giving thanks to the Totiv...but it wasn't any of Earth's natural resources they were after.
It was our women.
As their own females began to die out, the Totiv sought human women as mates. And so, we were Forsaken by our world. Every year, special girls from around the world are taken to special training houses, in preparation to become a mate to one of the Totiv’s many unmated Klans. They are known as Harvest Girls.
My name is Carmen and I am one of those girls.
*Capturing Carmen is book one in The Forsaken series, this book can be read as a stand-alone as can any of the others. This book has mature content intended for 18+ with explicit and violent scenes. Capturing Carmen is a reverse harem, dark alien sci-fi romance*
It's exactly what you'd expect from this type of read. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but well, I liked it, it wasn't a disappointment, and the characters were fun.
I'm still not sure if I'll go on with the series, but eh. If you're looking for alien smut, this book works.
This book started out with a promising story but quickly turned into a repetitive cycle of sex, blood, cum with no room for story-telling. I liked Carmen in the beginning because she was introduced as a rebel who is not afraid to break the rules to get what she wants (which turns out to be rough sex, rough sex, pain, rough sex, blood, gore, violence and some more rough sex) and I loved how she tried to be the rock for the other harvest girls and tried to protect them as best as she could even though she is the one who gets them into trouble. However, the character building stopped there because after the actual events of the book started there was no more contact with any other characters except her mates. There was a small part with Shiloh which had a lot of potential for some girl time but was brushed over like it didn't mattter. I liked the steamy scenes in the beginning but after the 100th sex scene in the first 10 chapters, it began to bore me and I found my self skipping them (which I never do usually). Don't get me wrong! I love a fast burn book where you don't have to wait for some quality one-on-one time (or four-on-one) for ages, but this book overdid the whole thing. I also like a female character with some backbone, lots of self-esteem and healty sex-drive who isn't afraid to say what she wants amd doesn't need a man to realize she's worthy but that is not Carmen. Even though the author tried to introduce her as a strong female lead who is a rebel and a fighter fit to be a mate to these alien warriors, Carmen was actually a brat who cannot find anything else to do with her time then having sex 100 times a day in any imaginable position! She tries to break every rule that is set upon her without giving a thought to the consequences or maybe because she just wants to be punished since that's what her mates do whenever she disobeys them. And when I say punishment, I actually mean kinky sex, lots of orgasms, bondage and a couple of sex toys. It was also maddening to read Carmen just being the SHIT at everything she does. Being a sexy and a strong woman, check!, being a boss at hand to hand combat and fighting with any imaginable weapon in the universe, check!, having an awesome body and being a sex goddess who can take two cocks at the same time into her vagina, check!. (And yes I mean both dicks into her vagina, not one in the ass and another in her vagina because that's just basic level of action for Carmen) Ughh... I can go on and on but I will stop here. I don't know how I got to the end of this book if you like books that has something more in it than just weird-ass sex scenes then don't waste your time on this book.
I just did not like Carmen. I’m all for women taking control of their life and in knowing what they want but Carmen was overkill. She was obnoxious. We freaking understand that you enjoy sex. That’s great, fantastic even but there is a time and a place. And Carmen seemed to think that every second and every where was the time for sex. It was insane. If you read this book purely for the smut it was ok.. I just found Carmen to be too abrasive and too crude. I literally don’t think I’ve ever said that in my life about a book it it was too much.
3.5 Stars I liked this book, though I had some issues with it. I ended up DNFing because I just didn’t care anymore. Things were dragging out and I didn’t want to put any more time into it.
What I Liked- The world was different and intriguing and I liked the concept. I enjoyed Carmen’s inner monologue and I felt like she was a unique character.
What I Didn’t Like- I RARELY ever say this, but I feel like this book had too much sex. Like it was every other section. This ties in to the other part I didn’t like which was that this book was too long. I ended up DNFing because the plot had just been dragged out too far. If the sex scenes were cut in half, I honestly probably would have finished this book because it would have been much shorter.
Um...I have been searching high and low for how this author KA Knight is such a fabulous author. I have found the clue I was looking for. She is in fact, an alien herself. She is NOT a human. I have always said I will never read an alien book. I dont like aliens, they arent my thing and I would never like them. But I jumped the gun and started this book and I LOVED IT SO MUCH. WOW.. AND LOXLEY SAVAGE. I instantly, when I was only 15% in this book, went and added another one of their books to my kindle and am going to one click everything from now on. If these authors can make me fall in love with aliens like THIS I will blindly follow them anywhere. Carmen was in one word- SPECTACULAR. But I cant sum her up in one word so I will also say she was WILD. FREE. FUNNY. A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. I loved her so much. And she loved her 'sisters' so much. I am so excited to read each of their books and see how they are with their klans! I LOOOVED those sexy alien men. I cant believe I am saying this but dang. Kronk, Vred, Ryx & Xal were just mouth watering. Xal's tail's orgasm inducing abilities. Vrid's tail's healing abilities. Kronks tail's shapeshifting abilities. Wonder what Ryx's is!!! I am a GONER for these men. They were so possessive, alpha, sweet and just everything J want for myself....Yes. I want one for myself. Actually FOUR. I CANT WAIT TO READ ABOUT SHILOH'S RED ALIENS!!!! I am actually anxious and giddy to read about them. I was waiting to read about winged ones. Speaking of, OMG THAT ENDING! This book was up there in my faves!!! WONDERFUL JOB TO THESE 2 AUTHORS!
I read a few excerpts of Capturing Carmen and thought it sounded fun and hot. Sadly, when I started reading the book, I hated Carmen almost immediately. She's all the things in a heroine I hate. Brash, loud, disruptive, defiant, rebellious, more than a little crazy. Carmen is a bratty brat who acts out because she can't have her way. I hate to slut shame but Carmen's a tart. She's a little too free with her body and while I applaud her for embracing her sexuality, her outright disobedience with regards to what she is supposed to do and learn in her role as a Harvest Girl does not endear her to me at all. I mean, I like a good sexy scene as much as the next person but I prefer the sexy times to be between the heroes and the heroine and not just any old person. The book has barely started and Carmen has already made the rounds with one of her fellow Harvest Girls, and two random hookups for her supposed last night of freedom before being given to the aliens who are supposed to claim her and be her mates. I'm okay with a heroine having a past and having had previous relationships and sexual experiences but I draw the line at reading about those sexual experiences in the book. I can already tell Carmen is going to be a pain in the rear end and fighting and resisting her alien mates at every turn, and I just do not have time for that nonsense. Yes, I know this is branded as a dark romance but regardless of whether it's dark or not, I tend to prefer a certain degree of fidelity in my characters. So nope, Capturing Carmen is a big ol' of DNF for me because I freaking hate Carmen.
I had heard rave reviews about this series and I was dying to get into the storyline when I picked it up, more excited probably because of the cover. The book started off really intriguing and exciting with the mystery of the unknown with these aliens that the girls knew nothing about but then the main Heroine just really annoyed me. She acted like a child the whole way through the book with paddies and whining, I really could not relate to her, maybe it's just her as a character because I did like the other harvest girls fine.
I loved the four different Heros in the book and thought they really all brought something to the story with their different personalities. However, the sex. Now I love sex in a book as much as the next person, if not more. But this was every other page and I didn't feel like a lot of the story was based on the progression of something developing in the story. I feel like it was focusing more on the sex and how many times the Heroine had sex.
I will continue to read the series because it does have really good reviews and I'm hoping the others are more enjoyable.
For the first 30% or so I was ok. Then there was TOO much sex. Don't get me wrong I don't mind sex in books, it's just this was way too much. I got to the point I was skipping chapters just to get away from it.
The only other part Liked was the fight scene until that led to sex. I just didn't feel a story really. What a shame, thank goodness it was KU. On to find something better.
This was hard for me. I like the plot but HATE the Main Character. How do you read a story where you constantly just hope someone puts a damn bullet in her head so she'll shut up and not be part of the story anymore. She's like a late teen nymphomaniac and most likely psychotic. There are a lot of scenes that feel unnecessarily sexual. Like her trying to bang herself or someone else everytime she showers doesnt have to happen. I dont think I have ever read a book like this where I was disappointed that there were too many sex scenes right away. It honestly made me dislike her and took away my interest. I kept trying to put it down and would force myself to keep reading. I kept hoping it would ge t better, she would..... nope!
Before this book, I didn’t even have a Goodreads account. I usually just came here to read reviews of books I was planning to start. However, this book left me so disappointed that I felt the need to create an account just to share my opinion: unfortunately, this book didn’t work for me.
To be clear, I enjoy romance books with explicit scenes. Out of the last 20 books I’ve read, all of them included that element, and it was never an issue. The problem here is different. This book has very little plot. The story is mostly a sequence of explicit scenes, without solid narrative progression or proper character development.
When it comes to the characters, I’ve read many books, but it’s rare for me to come across a protagonist as difficult to engage with as Carmen. I usually like female characters with a strong or rebellious personality, but in this case, the execution didn’t work. Her point of view becomes exhausting, as most of her thoughts revolve around sex, combined with impulsive behavior and very little emotional depth. The attempt to portray her as “different from others” feels repetitive and unconvincing. Unfortunately, the other POVs don’t make up for these issues either.
Overall, this was a very disappointing read. If it were possible to give less than one star, I would, but since it isn’t, I’m leaving a one-star rating.
Capturing Carmen was my first foray into Alien Romance. Ms. Savage was kind enough to choose me to win a copy. (Me! I never win stuff. Yeah, I was the kid who got picked last in PE, too.) But I digress.
Whoever had the brilliant idea of having these 2 queens write a book together was a bloody genius. Seriously.
I has hooked from the first page. Carmen is my kind of FMC - fearless, snarky and badass-ingly awesome with a huge personality. (What? That's a word.) The guys are badasses in their own right - powerful, deadly and oh, so hot.
This story is wonderfully written, with amazing characters that you will fall in love with. You'll laugh out loud at the comedic points, but don't let that fool you - this is a dark book (with a huge side of humour). And I can't not mention the heat levels - this is a fast burn story, with heat levels through the roof. Scorching hot! Is there a doctor in the house? I need a cold shower, a fan, and a pint of ice cream, STAT! Sexy times don't take over the story though, so don't worry - it has a great plot, too. They add, not detract from the story.
To end this novella of a review...Go. Now. Read this book. You won't regret it. I'm off to stalk the authors and add all their books to my TBR ❤
P.S. While you're at it, add Den of Vipers and Seven Sins of Snow to your TBR. Trust me. 😉
Capturing Carmen – (The Forsaken Book 1) Dark Alien Sci-Fi RH - Knight/Savage Explosive from start to finish – A truly wild ride!
Crank up the heat level to Dante’s inferno! This book packs so much scorching fire that it should carry a warning to wear PPE before you pick it up! Prepare to be burned by a relentless torrent of the steamiest, sexy times that I have read in some time!
Wow - what a powerhouse these characters are! Our FMC Carmen is a Harvest girl. A prize to be won (or reaped) by an alien warrior race that have won the right to mate with human females once they are found to be compatible for breeding! Already a wild child from her beginnings in isolation with her Harvest sisters, Carmen has led the pack into naughty and scandalous forays in the human world. Their final Earth adventure causing their entire Harvest group to be reaped early. Carmen finds herself claimed by the fierce Totiv Warrior Klan Marix on the planet Oxious.
This is a story that is fast burn and fast paced. The four warriors in the Klan each have a wow-factor and bring their own special brand of “OMG - I want to climb him like a tree, right now!” essence to the story. There are also some heavy power exchange scenes and BDSM.
This book is fiercely sexy. At the end of the day, it is a rollicking good time if you heed the trigger warnings. It is also not for the squeamish as there are some gory exchanges in the fight scenes! Definitely an 18+ read and I give it five stars.
I came to “Capturing Carmen” a K.A. Knight fan (Den of Vipers & Wasteland.) If you were like me thinking Kerry Knight + sci-fi romance what could be better - let me 🛑 stop you here. This collaboration will not give you a read to the quality of which you are probably expecting.
What you will get - a reverse harem of “hot” alien warriors and pages upon pages of sex scenes between the main characters.
Where this book goes left and misses the mark (disappoints.)
👎Though the attempt was to depict the heroine as a strong female lead she just comes across as a brat of a horn dog with a one track mind. (And mouth for that matter. Almost all of her lines end with a sexual invitation or reference.) 👎 Zero plot or world building. This is billed as erotica and yes I acknowledge that no one comes to erotica for the gripping story. But this is also trying to be a sci-fi. As readers we do need some basic questions answered. If you don’t want to put in even a little world building just set the book in the modern world. 👎 Repetition. There is only so much of the same sex-ipaide repackaged one can read across 356 pages. Change it up. Give us something new, something happens in the story, a different position, anything new I don’t care.
Alright, so book 1 of this alien Reverse harem series. I accidentally read the 3rd book first but they can be read as standalones so it didn’t throw anything off for me. But the women are all connected so if you can read them in order, do it. The overall gist of the series is that women are tested as babies for compatibilty to a race of aliens who helped humans defend earth many many years ago. These aliens are in need of mates. This book revolves around Carmen and the klan of aliens who win her as their mate. In the 3rd book, I felt like the book was a slowwwwww burn, whereas in this book I felt like the plot took a backseat to the s e x scenes. While there was definitely a plot, I felt like the s e x scenes just completely took over. Don’t get me wrong, it was hot as h e l l, but I hope to find more of a balance between plot and s e x in the next book.
I have to say that I didn't really care for Carmen at all.. She was to manipulative for me. Always manipulating things to entertain herself without stopping to think of the consequences.. as long as she had a good time doing it. It was all about her and what she wanted. I didn't like her at all... I wish her Klan had ended up with somebody else... Her Klan deserved somebody a lot better then her. I actually loved all the guys in the Klan. Each of them brought something to the whole. They completed and complemented the others of the Klan. Each had a unique (gift for lack of a better word) to offer the Klan that made it complete. Other then wanting and needing children... I didn't really see the need for Carmen to be added to the Klan as she didn't bring much to the table other then her ability to have the children.
I will give the next book in the series a chance and hope I like it a lot better then this one.
I love alien romances and alien RHs are even better but throw in some BDSM elements and its straight fire!! I think the 2 authors did a fantastic job creating this world with the different alien races and the idea of the Harvest. Carmen was a funny character who definitely could hold her own. There were times that I wished she would have been more serious rather than make everything a joke. Speaking of Carmen, she was a ball of fire who definitely is a masochist who gets pleasure from experiencing pain so please keep that in mind when reading this. This type of BDSM isn’t for everyone.
There were times where I felt the story kind of dragged on but then a steamy sex scene popped up which spiced it back up for me. I am excited to read the next book so I can follow all the women from Carmen’s life at the Harvest House.
This book contained a lot of sex. Too much sex. I wish there was more chill time to let the characters get to know each other and to have girl time. The world building and her mates were great, now give the book some actual plot. Carmen was a fun MC, she was sassy, loud, and crazy. I've been reading a lot of books recently with this type of MC and it takes me back to my YA or Wattpad days and I love it. The plot should have been more prominent and at least equaled the amount of sex. Don't get me wrong though, I did really like it.
Also there was a thesaurus in the beginning that gave me pause. I don't like when books do that, because I can't remember much. And honestly, yeah I read it, but you don't have to know the terms to enjoy this book.
The aliens had horns and tails, but it didn't bother me at all. I honestly never saw myself reading a romance reverse harem alien book.
First off I was expecting big things for this book, because it’s co written by K.A Knight, it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Who knew that aliens could be sexy and gorgeous. Wow all those little things about Carmen changing, I’m super excited to find out if in the future books that she will have horns and a tail maybe even have there super speed too.
I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to dig in to the rest of the series now. That ending though , omg poor Shiloh. She has so many people ready to tear down the worlds for her !
I really enjoyed this book but it was definitely missing some things... for one the characters were very two dimensional. I loved them a lot but you don't really get to dig under the surface of them. I only knew the basics about all of these characters and that they all love violence, gore, blood, and sex. And that's pretty much it. But as far as the smut goes it was fantastic and I know a lot of reviews have said they didn't like Carmen for her brattiness but I actually liked that about her lol. Over all not a bad read just wish it was more in depth character wise.

I love both these authors and knew there would be spice and plot....everything needed for my kinda story. Warning you will ruin panties, warning you will love Carmen and her 'men'...alien men...warning it is dirty and violent! It is perfect! Get ready for an awesome rebel with a cause and how her mates are just as crazy. I was secretly hoping for a different lead story next because I was more curious about some of the other girls....but how this ended I am now going to enjoy Shiloh and her sexy alien lovers!
Wow oh wow this is so not what I was expecting!! Scifi and reverse harem two of my favorite genres and this is definitely not for the faint hearted but its utterly brilliant! Love the fact its totally different from any other book I've read before and I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next one in the series. I love Carmen she is one crazy badass!!!
Didn’t finish. Was very ... odd. It was not a turn on to hear about the mfc getting aroused by seeing people get dismembered. Or people begging for their life being ignored. The sexual chemistry didn’t seem special even though they are mates because she had the exact same chemistry with her roommate and guards and stranger college boys at a frat house. Just in all a weird read.
This book was HOT. It’s pretty dark, I mean these aliens are warriors and they love their blood and Carmen is just as blood thirsty. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was The last paragraph; Carmen’s little lets-go-get-em speech at the end was just too corny for my tastes lol. So if you like aliens and don’t mind a lot of blood, check this book out. This book is a stand-alone, though the last chapter throws you a hook and drags you into the next book.
OMG, once again K.A. and Loxley have come up with an AWESOME new story that is guaranteed to keep you wiggling in your seat 😆. Sexy as hell, completely intense with drool worthy characters make reading this well worth your time 😋. Thanks so much K.A. and Loxley. I REALLY enjoyed reading this book more than you'll ever know 🤗. I can't wait to read more 🤓.
Had a good start. A girl who embraces badassery without trying too hard? Rare in writing. The humor is wonderful too. Love the overconfidence of the MC because it's rubbing on me in a good way.
But then the middle got me.. eh. It was so confusing and I got a bit turned off with all the action scenes. I usually like action but this one just didn't hook me. Sadly, I didn't finish this and I would not continue reading the series.
The only reason the stars aren’t a four is because of how long the book was without having much twists and turns, it was mostly sex. Don’t get me wrong that wasn’t terrible to read but the novel could’ve been shrunken to a smaller novel.
I loved all the characters, especially Carmen — she’s such a badass that I envy being that tricky and fun.
While the book was good I prob won’t read the rest because that was a long book I wasn’t expecting to be. Alien novels are short asf.
I adored this first installment to this new series! Such great world building and I truly felt as if each character was really fleshed out. It was funny but dark and sexy...all at the same time. These two authors seem to work seamlessly together to make this book come together into the greatness it is and I for one am glad of it!
