A Little Scribble Spot: A Story About Colourful Emotions is a fantastic story to help children understand the different kinds of emotions. The story follows a spot who is all tangled up in emotions so he is helped by separating them out and seeing what each of the emotions would scribble and feel like.

I love books on emotions as with emotions being a tricky subject to understand books like this are perfect to help children understand in a fun way. I think it's great how we get to see the spots being separated and seeing each for who they are.

The illustrations really add to the story in this book and fit perfectly. Seeing each spot with a colour theme and a scribble they'd draw on each page is a great way to show children how the emotion might feel in an easy to understand way. I also like how no emotions are made to be bad as all emotions are beneficial and there for a reason.

This is an amazing book that is a great way to introduce emotions to young children in a fun way, well worth a read!

The first thing we encounter is a multi-colored scribbled spot. The reason this spot is scribbled and multicolored is because it represents tangled and confused emotions. I love that the author gave a page where she showed different colored spots and what they represent. The second thing I loved is that not only did the scribble start to separate his spots by color but the author gave several words that were synonyms of the original emotion. For example the word peaceful can also mean, “relaxed, tranquil, calm, quiet, mellow and serene”. This is a great way to increase a child’s vocabulary. The author also used examples of where we can find these colors when we draw. For example we might color leaves, grass or vines green. All of these represent things that a lot of people find peaceful. This book teaches children that they have all of these emotions inside them, but sometimes they get mixed up.

A little Scribble SPOT: A Story About Colorful Emotions is a picture book intended for early childhood readers and learners.

The story follows Scribble SPOT, a little spot that is tangled in a range of his many emotions. Throughout the book, he learns how to spot and name these feelings.

I rated this book five stars because I genuinely think that its so helpful for children learning to talk about their emotions. I like that the author gave a color to each emotion, so kids are able to remember the names and feelings more affectively. I appreciate that it also gives context to those feelings, like what they might need or want when they feel like that. I think the pictures and words are engaging and interactive, which can help kids learn the important parts of the book most affecively. When I am a teacher, I intend to utilize this book to help the different students I have with emotional regulation and growth. Overall, it was a really short, but sweet book!

Emotions are easy for me to express as an adult but difficult to explain to very young children, which is why I absolutely adore this book!

Alber does a fantastic job of demonstrating a more concrete way to help little kids understand and better express their emotions (as opposed to the good ol' "frowny face is sad", "smiley face is happy" etc.). And the art is simple but sufficient to get the point across.

I'm definitely going to add more of her "Colourful Emotions" series to my collection in prep for my little ones!

This book helps kids understand their emotions through colors. Every emotion is assigned a color and is talked about individually. Then at the end of the book it brings all the emotions together and forms a rainbow that is inside all of us. I think this book is another great tool to use in the classroom to help children understand their emotions and how to recognize how they are feeling. I would recommend this book to children who are between the ages of 2-6.

Good book!

This book is good because it shows you that your emotions are normal. It’s normal to feel angry from time to time; it’s normal to feel sad from time; it’s normal to feel confident and it’s normal to feel happy. It’s normal to feel anxious and it’s normal to be who you are. And it teaches you that you can express that however you like because you are you and there’s no one like you.

The Best

I read this book today in session with a 6 year old client and this client absolutely loved the story, loved the mini stuffies that went along with the story and how relatable the feeling expressions were to him. Couldn’t recommend it more than I already do now. I’ve encouraged other therapists to read as well and use in sessions!

so good!

So great at helping kiddos figure out what they are feeling when they don’t have the ability to describe their emotions. Such an easy way for them to label a concrete color rather than an abstract feeling.

This was cute and I liked the illustrations. I am curious about the rest of the books in the series.
The illustrations were simple but good, and I liked the simplicity of the text paired with synonyms for the emotions.

Emotions

It’s a nice way to teach about the different emotions kids are feeling but don’t always know to put words with how they are feeling.

Introduces seven emotions by color and expands a little on how each might make one feel. Each of these is further examined in a separate stand-alone title.

Great introduction to emotions using colors. I really liked how anxiety was included. Nice and quick for story time geared to towards preschoolers, but helpful for elementary age as well.

This book is an introduction to the "Inspire to Create Better You" series. Each emotion has its own book. This wonderful book will help your kiddo learn how to untangle his emotions to learn what is truly bothering him or her.
Emotions are healthy. When they get all jumbled up together it's hard to know how you're really feeling so you get frustrated. I picked a couple emotions to share. Yellow is happiness that shows as Joy. It scribbled sunshine and flowers. Blue spot is Sadness. It scribbles gloomy clouds and tear drops.
I highly recommend this exciting book for you and me
